[Bug 790435] Re: Adjusting brightness is impossible
Hello, I installed these now. My nVidia drivers broke because of them, so I'm back to Gnome. Brightness switching is just as troublesome as it was originally. Readding acpi_backlight=vendor. *sudo update-grub* *reboot* It isn't exactly fixed, I noticed when the problems occur now, it is when I adjust the brightness fast and repeatedly. It then goes a bit up and down, but no more than one step, with acpi etc. So it behaves the same irregardless of kernels. I'll attach the attachements anyway: ** Attachment added: kern.log https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/790435/+attachment/2164438/+files/kern.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/790435 Title: Adjusting brightness is impossible To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/790435/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 790435] Re: Adjusting brightness is impossible
Thanks for staying with me, Fabio. Here is what I have done so far: - Removed 'acpi_backlight=vendor' from kernel boot parameters, since that fixed the problem - *sudo update-grub* - ls /sys/class/backlight/ dell_backlight (because of «Checking the kernel interfaces»). *reboot* Nothing changed, that is: Brightness is still awkward. Do you want me to add the line back to boot parameters before trying your .debs? Should I install them all at the same time?
