Re: [Bug 1587749] Re: random 1-2s black screen
Hi Christopher, I'll check if I'm able to update, it's a business notebook where I have limited access. I have to check what's possible there. What I tried is the latest stable mainline kernel 4.6.3 which improves the situation significantly. At least the NB doesn't crash any more putting it back to the docking station. The mainline kernel doesn't support Docker (AUFS missing) which makes it problematic for me. I keep you posted Haug Am 03.07.2016 um 00:59 schrieb Christopher M. [Bug 1587749] [NEW] random 1-2s black screen
Public bug reported: I have a Lenovo T450s with docking station and 2 display port monitors on it. I experience black screens for about a second. Usually one of the external monitors only. One external display turns black and comes back after 1 or 2 seconds. This happens >10 times a day and is really annoying. My colleague experiencing the same issue, also using Ubuntu 16.04. Same hardware. At home I have a similar issue, also with Intel motherboard graphics. Different hardware. Re: [Bug 292214] Re: Xinerama broken since intrepid on MGA
Your logfile ends when the server tries to initialize DRI. I have Xorg ver 1.7.6 (part of Ubuntu 10.04). My logfile contains the lines (WW) MGA(0): Direct rendering is not supported when Xinerama is enabled (EE) MGA(0): [drm] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI. Maybe somebody realized that DRI doesn't work with dual heads and disabled it. To find out, try Option "DRI" "off" in the device section (and make shure it's really in effect by looking at the log file) -- Xinerama broken since intrepid on MGA https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292214 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 292214] Re: Xinerama broken since intrepid on MGA
Here's a Andy's patch against the new source version on http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-mga/xserver-xorg-video-mga_1.4.11.dfsg.orig.tar.gz (15-Aug-2009) I did an additional change for the framebuffer unmapping: The dev->regions[] array always contains the full size of the framebuffer bar. In Xinerama mode, temporary mappings of smaller sizes are created. The unmapping of these failed in my case if the size was taken from the regions[] array. In the new patch, pMga->FbMapSize is used instead. binaries might eventually appear in https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-syntacs/+archive/ppa ** Patch added: "mga-driver-4.patch" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/43115869/mga-driver-4.patch -- Xinerama broken since intrepid on MGA https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/292214 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Works with 2.6.24-23-generic, e.g. ethtool -s eth1 speed 100 autoneg off. Autonegotiation standard is on and will immediately switch back to 1000. -> switch autoneg off to keep non standard settings. [Bug 181996] Re: NFS server: lockd: server not responding
(Storm) I was using the nolock option since then - that means work with locking disabled, wich - of course - worked. On 10.02. I enabled locking again to give it a try. No problems since then. Kernels are 2.6.24-23-generic on both client and server nfs-kernel-server and nfs-common are 1:1.1.2-2ubuntu2.2 I still don't think it's a new problem - it just shows up in very special cases, whch we don't know. Over here it disappeared as randomly as it appeared before - and you still have it. When did it appear in your site ? Which changes did you make before ? [Bug 181996] Re: NFS server: lockd: server not responding
I tried the generic kernel (as opposed to server). Worked for a couple of days, then same again. Until about 4 weeks ago, the problem appeared sporadically, then almost every day - without any change to the server (no automatic updates). It might depend on configuratin or certain packages on the client. My home resides on the server. Within the time under question I installed virtual box on the client. It adds a script which adds a tap device (but doesn't activate a bridge). Might also depend on my slow server hw (PIII-866/256MB). I'm mounting nolock for the moment :-)), seems to work fine -- NFS server: lockd: server not responding https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181996 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
