[Bug 1819119] [NEW] plantuml does not use system proxy

2019-03-08 Thread hd
Public bug reported:

---
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Release:18.04
$  apt-cache policy plantuml
plantuml:
  Installed: 1:1.2017.15-1
  Candidate: 1:1.2017.15-1
  Version table:
 *** 1:1.2017.15-1 500

500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
---

PlantUML does not consider any of the system proxy environment variables
like HTTP_PROXY or HTTPS_PROXY.

Java has a system property java.net.useSystemProxies to use system proxy
varables in all http calls:
https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/technotes/guides/net/proxies.html

The startup script under `/usr/bin/plantuml` can be updated to change this. If
the last line in the startup script is changed with this one, it'd be fixed:

$JAVA -jar -Djava.net.useSystemProxies=true
/usr/share/plantuml/plantuml.jar ${@}

[Bug 1610106] Re: Shift+Tab / Backtab does not work as hotkey

2017-03-24 Thread Ron HD
I have the same problem. It was in KDE 5 on PCLinuxOS as well, but there
I was able to work around it by manually editing the shortcuts file to
say "Ctrl+Shift+Backtab" instead of "Ctrl+Shift+Tab". Apparently, the
Shift+Tab was mapped to Backtab, but the Shift modifier was still
presented. However, this workaround does not work in Ubuntu.

[Bug 292648] Re: Cannot open shared object file while starting Gnucash

2016-12-07 Thread Ron HD
I just ran into this same problem in Kubuntu 16.04, in the process of
migrating from PCLinuxOS. The same solution also worked for me.

The command "which gnucash" revealed that I have a script in my ~/bin
that was used to work around a problem in a previous gnucash problem
(IIRC, the guile library was missing). Removing this script resolved the
issue.

[Bug 999638] Re: Acer Aspire One 722 doesn't resume from suspend

2012-11-30 Thread hd
Hi,

this problem can be solved if you install the current ATI drivers (Catalyst
12.10) from the AMD Page.
Before you run the ati installer you need to install those packages first:

*1) First, check the software sources, then paste this command into the
terminal:
sudo apt-get install build-essential cdbs dh-make dkms execstack dh-modaliases
fakeroot

*2) If you have a 64 bit system, do this step:
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs-multiarch:i386 lib32gcc1 libc6-i386
cd /usr
sudo ln -svT lib /usr/lib64
*(Just copy this from a tutorial - don't really know if it's really needed,
because i use 12.04 32-Bit)

Then install the .run script from ati with 'sudo sh amd*.run'. Notice
that you download the correct package (notebook -> APU -> C-Series ->
...).

After i have rebooted my netbook i initialized my X Config with 'sudo aticonfig
--initial'.
Now EVERYTHING works really nice. Even the heat is lower now.

Hope it works for you all.

[Bug 282302] Re: Ruby 1.8 package breaks the Metasploit Framework (short-named constants)

2008-11-06 Thread HD Moore
>From the looks of it, even though the behavior is different between
1.8.6 and 1.8.7-patched, it was addressing an ambiguity in the first
place and the 1.8.7-patched behavior should be considered correct. The
8.10 release has shipped with the broken 1.8.7 interpreter and no way
for users to downgrade to 1.8.6. Any chance a new package can be pushed
fairly soon for 8.10?

[Bug 282302] Re: Ruby 1.8 package breaks the Metasploit Framework (short-named constants)

2008-10-22 Thread HD Moore
I was not able to trigger this with a standalone test case, but it is
easy to reproduce using the svn version of the Metasploit Framework. The
example below assumes you have a Windows server somewhere with port 135
open:

$ svn co http://metasploit.com/svn/framework3/trunk/ msf3
$ ruby msf3/msfcli exploit/windows/dcerpc/ms03_026_dcom
PAYLOAD=windows/shell/bind_tcp RHOST=10.10.10.250 E
(change 10.10.10.250 to a machine with DCOM open, patch level does not matter)

[*] Started bind handler
[*] Trying target Windows NT SP3-6a/2000/XP/2003 Universal...
[*] Binding to 4d9f4ab8-7d1c-11cf-861e-0020af6e7c57:[EMAIL
PROTECTED]:10.10.10.250[135] ...
[*] Bound to 4d9f4ab8-7d1c-11cf-861e-0020af6e7c57:[EMAIL
PROTECTED]:10.10.10.250[135] ...
[-] Exploit failed: uninitialized constant Msf::ModuleSet::NDR

A working/patched version of Ruby will not trigger that "uninitialized
constant" error.

[Bug 282302] Re: Ruby 1.8 package breaks the Metasploit Framework (short-named constants)

2008-10-22 Thread HD Moore
Sure, let me write a script that demonstrates the bug, its a little
tricky because it only occurs in some convoluted Ruby objects (classes
which inherit from mixins which define short-name constants, with a
different base class than the class which includes them). I had a link
to the Ruby patch which solved this, but need to dig it up again.

[Bug 282302] [NEW] Ruby 1.8 package breaks the Metasploit Framework (short-named constants)

2008-10-12 Thread HD Moore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ruby1.8

The current stable release of the Ruby interpreter (1.8.7 in Ibix)
breaks any software using short-named constants. The latest stable
version from ruby-lang.org has this issue as well, but it has been fixed
in the latest stable snapshot.

To summarize, this version is bad: ftp://ftp.ruby-
lang.org/pub/ruby/1.8/ruby-1.8.7-p72.tar.gz

This version is corrected: ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/stable-
snapshot.tar.gz

When the bug triggers, it looks something like:
[-] Exploit failed: uninitialized constant Msf::ModuleSet::NDR

Since we recommend Ubuntu as a stable platform for the Metasploit
Framework, we would really like to see 8.10 ship with a working version
of the Ruby interpreter.

[Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working in Ubuntu Gusty/7.10

2007-11-08 Thread hd
on my PC at home XDMCP with gdm is not working, XDMCP with kdm does, both with
cygwon or Igel Thinclient.
At school we need gdm. With 12 Igelclients it is working, 2 can't login, first
the gray window appears and then you
can see for a short moment the start of gdm, and this behavior repeats, also
with cygwin. All Igelclients have the
same configuration. I need gdm working as soon as possible.

I use 14 thin clients to login via XDMCP on feisty. Since the update
yesterday 12 of them get an login screen and work, 2 not, also cygwin
connect fails. The login screen starts , you can see just the cursor,
and then restarts. Feisty was working very well with all clients ( even
cygwin ).
