I am also facing this issue in Kubuntu 12.04, KDE 4.10.2

Removing the rc config file and reconfiguring didn't help. Neither did
removing the database file rescanning.

[Bug 607796] Re: Dragging and holding a selection over an entry in the Launcher should spread out windows belonging to that application

2012-08-10 Thread hdpq
it would be very nice if you could file those bugs (if not already
done)

Already done - this one's been here for 2 years now.

OFFTOPIC / TLDR:

I personally have also reported other ones on Unity and Unity-2d, but no
one seems to care about those. Like 2 of them timed out - no one even
bothered to check, and one got closed because I was using Natty instead
of Oneiric (in spite of Natty being officially supported).

What's ironic is that new features and LENSES are getting implemented
continuously, while the usability bugs get no attention at all.

I've given Unity many tries and ended up hating it more and more after
each one. I especially despise it for being forced upon me, as the
classic gnome session on 12.04 and 11.10 is not nearly as good as on
previous versions.

Switching to KDE was the best thing that happened to me linux wise. Not
once has it crashed for me. Not once have I had usability issues. I do
admit having spent 1.5h to configure it but since then it's been pure
bliss. I must also mention that each release sees polishing, fixing and
stability improvements.

-

While I don't mean to blame you or hurt any of the Unity users'
feelings, I do feel frustrated about being proposed the same solution
over and over as it just doesn't work.

Unsubscribing. Bye.

[Bug 607796] Re: Dragging and holding a selection over an entry in the Launcher should spread out windows belonging to that application

2012-05-16 Thread hdpq
When I tried it, I had launcher behavior set to always show. No DnD
there. I even filed a bug which then turned out to be a duplicate of
this one.

Sorry for the off-topic
but every time I decide to give Unity a try it screws me over -_-; it has gone
even further this time - a few days ago I turned on my computer and Unity was
gone from the session menu and I couldn't get it fixed. Wow.

I can reproduce this, with a little difference, though - the video

[Bug 952100] [NEW] Thunderbird is already running message appears when decreasing brightness of a laptop display

[Bug 833057] Re: [panel] Abnormal behavior of keyboard shortcuts

2011-11-17 Thread hdpq
At the moment of reporting, 2011-08-24, I was running Natty (and still
am), because Oneiric hadn't been released yet. After not getting any
feedback for a long time, I gave up and switched to classic gnome. Plus,
if I remember correctly, Unity-2d on Natty hasn't received any updates
recently, so I presume the bug might still be there. Might give Unity-2d
a try again and see how it goes.

Seeing I've finally got some attention, perhaps you could answer my
question here: https://answers.launchpad.net/unity-2d/+question/174938

Thanks.

[Bug 738636] Re: Drag and drop between different windows

2011-11-04 Thread hdpq
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 727903 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/727903

Odd, I've just upgraded my other laptop from 11.04 to 11.10 and drag and
drop (for maximized windows) is completely broken now.

The way it used to be: open 2 nautilus windows, maximize them, drag a
file from window 1 to the launcher, wait for expo, hover window 2, wait
for it to get focused, drop the file to window 2.

The way it is now: open 2 nautilus windows, maximize them, drag a file
from window 1 to the launcher and PANIC because expo never activates no
matter how long I wait. It won't even let me alt+tab while dragging.

What am I doing wrong?
