[Bug 1315414] [NEW] all etc/'s got replaced during installation

2014-05-02 Thread hejkki
Public bug reported:

i did a backup of the system before installing a fresh ubuntu 14.04
i had a 32bit 13.10 and backed it up and installed 64bit 14.04

i did:
mkdir /tmp/sda3
mount /dev/sda3 /tmp/sda3
mkdir /tmp/sda3/WANAHAT
mv /tmp/sda3/* /tmp/sda3/WANAHAT
umount /tmp/sda3

and then started the installation process.
installed the system on sda3

After intsallation, i noticed that my backup wasn't intact.
/WANAHAT/etc was replaced with the new installations /etc so /etc/ and
/WANAHAT/etc/ were identical after installation.

I needed the /WANAHAT/etc since my configuration files were there (vdr
for example)

[Bug 877188] [NEW] mouse-button-modifier will stuck (super)

2011-10-18 Thread hejkki
Public bug reported:

Gnome 3 here.

I have set mouse-button-modifier as Super
and i have also
Super1
Super2
Super3
Super4
to switch between workspaces. Everything worked fine in ubuntu 11.04 with
manually installed gnome-3
but now in 11.10 ubuntu and gnome 3 the super-key (windows logo key) will stuck
down and i will sometimes only be able to move windows with the mouse and the
workspace switching with super+number will not work.

also the apps menu will not open when pushing the logo/super key (or how
to call it, the same thing that opens when you move the cursor to the
upper left corner)

Sometimes i need to reboot/relogin to get access to these features
again, sometimes it helps when i hit the super key several times.

[Bug 865136] [NEW] javascript confirm-box is ok-ed or form submitted when closing tab

2011-10-03 Thread hejkki
Public bug reported:

1. so you have a page with a code attached..
2. you push submit-button, but don't choose ok or cancel
3. you close the window (at least in ubuntu/gnome3 you can close it)
4. the browser will submit the form anyhow and the script in 'something' will
be loaded in the server side.
5. You will not see this in the browser because the window was closed.
6. see the server log or make a script that does something and you will see
that it was really loaded.

you have for example a product delete button, you push it, close the
window and don't want to remove the product, but it is removed anyhow.

Possible fixes and notes:
1. when a confirm-box (maybe alert box also) is open, disable the possibility
of closing the tab (good)
2. run the javascript code to the end with option cancel chosen (maybe this
is not a good idea because there might be another confirm-box coming afterwards
in the code, or lots of code is run.
3. stop the javascript immediately, don't submit the form and close the tab.
(this also could be good option imho)

[Bug 632317] [NEW] wlan connection breaks when screensaver goes on

2010-09-07 Thread hejkki
Public bug reported:

I have
08:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01)

and when i download a file (big file, full speed download with a 10/10M
connection)
the wlan connection will break and not connect anymore when the screensaver
goes on.
(might have something to do with the spotify problem, the sound stops for a
while when the screensaver goes on, and even goes off totally without the
hack mentioned at the spotify.com page)

I can fix the problem termporarily by pushing on the button on my
laptop keyboard to switch wlan off, and then back on. The connection
comes back till the screensaver comes again and breaks the wlan
connection.

Ubuntu 10.04.

[Bug 475029] [NEW] a line ---- is copied when using enter

2009-11-04 Thread hejkki
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Ubuntu 9.10

ok, so openoffice has the auto-completion when you use - it will
give you a full width line from left to right...

but write some text after and before it and do this:

go to the line abowe the line, and push enter.
It will copy the line instead of move it down one line.

it should give you an empty line abowe the line instead of copying it.

2009-10-24 Thread hejkki
i don't know if there are 2 bugs or 1 only in this topic...

but i think it has to do something with umlauts in the directory names.
my ubuntu cd-image is on desktop (finnish filename Työpöytä) and after moving
it to any other folder that does not contain umlauts, it works 100%

well, it is a default feature of ubuntu that has the bug.
if someone changes the language, it WILL ask you to rename the folder names
(desktop also) after login (in the login screen you choose the language)

[Bug 453424] Re: icons are disappearing after choosing another language for gnome

2009-10-22 Thread hejkki
No, there is no crash, i can't find you a crash file. but it is a buggy
feature.

the files are disappearing one-by-one after you drag-and-drop them inside the
desktop
i think it is showing the old desktop there (old language before the desktop
folder rename) and it notices that it is not there.
So it should reload the new desktop with the new renamed name after renaming
the names :)

[Bug 454906] [NEW] candy settings snap border feature not working well

2009-10-18 Thread hejkki
Public bug reported:

when i turn on the candy feature where the window shape is changing when
moving the window (system - preferences - appearance - visual effects
- extra) and i try to move a window to the edge of my display, it does
not always snap on to the edge but rather the yoyo candy effect (or
something) moves the window over the edge for a fraction of time and
then the snap feature doesn't work.

should it somehow have a hoover-effect? :)

[Bug 421095] Re: Karmic BCM4311 doesn't work with Broadcom B43 wireless driver and Driver Broadcom STA

2009-10-16 Thread hejkki
it worked for me after a fresh install, but
after trying to share the connection from network manager - create new
wireless network...
all stopped working.

Even after i tried to remove the new connection that i made, nothing
started working again.

[Bug 162789] Re: Flash-plugin causes xorg to eat my memory when right clicking

2007-11-15 Thread hejkki
doesn't do anything special if you open the browser and try this.
You need to watch several video clips and so on...

(testing more...)

[Bug 162789] Flash-plugin causes xorg to eat my memory when right clicking

2007-11-14 Thread hejkki
Public bug reported:

example: Go to youtube.com with firefox
play a video, right click on it (it opens a menu) then click somewhere outside
the opened menu and there you have it.
firefox freezes and xorg starts eating memory (go to Ctrl+Alt+F1 and login and
run top to confirm this.)

Sometimes i have to kill firefox, sometimes i can just wait for an hour
or two to let mozilla unfreeze again.

Anyone else with the same problem?

dunno if it has anything to do with my low RAM size
Mem:515984k total,
Swap: 996020k total,

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
