Re: [Bug 769229] Re: There is no way to restart evolution after forced closing
I tried to do it, but when I do CTRL + C (following the instructions on that webpage), gdb gets stuck as well. By the way, the IMAP account is separate from the Exchange account, and I think that it is the Exchange engine the one which is failing. I have learnt that I can kill Evolution if I kill evolution-exchange-storage (I think that's the name). If I restart without killing evolution-data-server, then the window does not show up. However, if I kill the three of them (evolution, evolution-exchange-storage and evolution-data-server), then I can restart Evolution, but it will continue to hang at some point. I really don't know how to reproduce the problem. I just try to open an e-mail from the IMAP account, then go back to the Exchange account and return to the IMAP, and at some point, it hangs. I don't know if it is related or not, but sometimes, it takes forever to load the e-mails. --- On Mon, 25/4/11, Pedro Villavicencio wrote: > From: Pedro Villavicencio > Subject: [Bug 769229] Re: There is no way to restart evolution after forced > closing > To: efr...@yahoo.com > Date: Monday, 25 April, 2011, 9:01 > When it hang may you please get a > backtrace? that's probably a bug and > should be investigated, there's no need to ask for a > workaround to close > evolution. please read > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace#Already%20running%20programs > and get a > backtrace, thanks. > > ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) > Importance: Undecided => Medium > > ** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu) > Status: New => > Incomplete > > ** Summary changed: > > - There is no way to restart evolution after forced > closing > + evolution hang when using imap > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are a direct > subscriber > of the bug. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/769229 > > Title: > evolution hang when using imap > > Status in “evolution” package in Ubuntu: > Incomplete > > Bug description: > Binary package hint: evolution > > Many times, it hangs up. [Bug 769229] [NEW] There is no way to restart evolution after forced closing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Many times, it hangs up. I am using IMAP and Exchange accounts (not my choice). When it hangs, I have to force-kill it. Then to open Evolution again, I have to log-off from my account. I tried to kill it with killall and even with kill $(ps ax | grep evolution | grep -v grep | awk '{print $1}') to try to restart it, but when running the command "evolution" again, there is no GUI, just a stuck background process. [Bug 657540] [NEW] initdb missing in /usr/bin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: postgresql-8.4 I wanted to initiate a new database using initdb -D /newdir The prompt would always tell me it could not find the command. After a while (a day or two; I'm not an expert) I realised that most probably the reason would be that the initdb was just missing from my /usr/bin folder. I just added a ln -s /usr/bin/initdb /usr/lib/postgresql/8.4/bin/initdb This may sound dumb, but I guess it could happen to anyone. I just wonder why the command wasn't available from the beginning. May be there is a "for the greater good" explanation. Hopes this helps. Sorry to bother you again, but this is not solved for me yet. I changed my location and the wlan does not detect any networks. I wonder why. [Bug 464559] Re: ifconfig returns SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132 when running commad ifconfig wlan0 up
I know this has been closed. I don't think it should, since many people are affected by this. Today, I found the post with a probable solution. It seems, indeed that it has to do with the SOFT and HARD locks. The link to the solution is posted at the end of: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1311886 (the direct link is http://www.opennet.ru/tips/info/2214.shtml). They provide code to cope with the problem. It has worked for me (for now). I have been having this problem since Karmic. I did not read the full posts, thus I don't know if some other people have been struggling with the nm-applet disabling the wireless connection. At first, I thought that my enable/disable physical switch was the problem, but no. Then I thought it was network-manager: nop. Now, I can run ifconfig wlan0 down && ifconfig wlan0 up without loosing my connection. See the links for an explanation. I am posting this because I really consider that there are a lot of people looking for a solution. By the way, I also tried the ath5k path, but it did not fully work. [Bug 392304] Re: Friends lists wiped-out when accepting new friend
Well, I am sorry to tell you that I cannot (or would like to) reproduce this problem. In the first place, I would need that someone tried to be added to my list of friends. Then again, I would not like to have to re- add everybody else in my list of friends. I was using MSN. I am usually willing to help as much as I can, but I guess that you understand the complications that could result from this, right? It was not the first time it had happened to me.
