[Bug 643910] Re: No effect when unchecking "Compress weekends in month view"

2010-10-07 Thread hiker
Let me add that also the problem that end times of appointments are
always shown is

fully reproducible.

STR:

1. Open Evolution.
2. Uncheck the "Calendar and Tasks > Display > Show appointment end times in
week and month view" option
3. Switch to calendar month view (or week view)
3. Observe that appointment end times are still shown

I have the same problem. Moreover, end times of appointments are always
shown, regardless, whether the corresponding box is selected or not.
Interestingly, the other two options (week numbers and scroll month
view) do work.

[Bug 462735] Re: No sound input or output.

2009-12-27 Thread hiker
magneze,

are you sure that there is NO audio? Shortly after upgrading to karmic,
I have thought of having no sound (it work initially, but after a few
updates, it seemed to have stopped). However, using external speakers at
full power via the headphones plug I can hear sound at perfect quality,
yet still very quiet. I tried various models in the respective alsa-
base.conf file, but without success. So, I am waiting for help...

[Bug 451330] [NEW] ubuntuone kidnapped

2009-10-14 Thread Hiker Hauk
Public bug reported:

After updated all my installed packages for 9.10, every single folder
and file, except the special ones like "Music" or "Videos" are marked as
ubuntuone-synchronized. See the image attached.

Because I disabled the auto-start of ubuntuone client and have never set
anything to sync with or to, because you already created a special
folder called Ubuntu One in my home, I kindly think this is a bug and
not a policy issue. During my 6 years of linux experience, never had a
distro done such things to me.

Yes, I am a bit angry and annoyed. Given the chance, every corporation
will do what Microsoft do? I hope this is a bug and get solved soon.

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha, up-to-date. Network Manager cannot connect to my AP.

I can confirm this issue, but it is more severe than it seems. When
Empathy crashed, the user has already signed in. Maybe a certain library
Empathy uses already set to receive Internet traffic. A buddy sent me a

crashing and showing up. It would use up one of the CPU cores. I ended

To solve this, execute,

the solution is to delete cache and index (and execute #sudo update-apt-

[Bug 112780] Re: [apport] supertuxkart crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-12-10 Thread hiker
Hi,

thanks for the bug report and the many details, highly appreciated. I am
one of the STK admins, and it would help us if you could report problems
on our web page or on the development list (see
http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=202302).

I haven't heard of any problems with this part of the code (since I
fixed one compiler bug causing a crash like you have described). What
track were you driving in?

Well, the good news is: this problem is fixed in our current SVN version
- since the function causing the crash has been replaced :) So I would
recommend to check out our current SVN version. I don't think that we
have the time to fix an old 0.3 bug.

Best regards,
   Joerg

Some other application is using the soundcard, so it can't be used by STK. Make
sure that all media players etc. are shut down (or at least not active). There
isn't much we can do about this problem.

> 2. Sound effects are a bit off
That's caused by using plib sound. We strongly recommend using OpenAL sounds,
since this fixes the delay (and will be the only supported sound version very
soon anyway).

> 3. When finally getting sound turned off it comes back on later when i press
> esc and return to race on like one of the levels.
Again, I put this into our tracker.

> 4. The Star Track messes up the AI players and when I am in the lead and they

Hmm - we have fixed a few places in the tracks where the AI got stuck, so I
think this issue should be fixed. But I am not aware that the AI can actually
win (not with 0.3, since it should detect any shortcuts which the AI might take
involuntarily when falling down the track). Could you try to reproduce the
problem: jsut drive it again, and when you see that the AI wins (or is suddenly
ahead of you) press F10: this will create a history.dat file for the last 5
frames or so in the current working directory. Please compress this file and
send it to the development list. That would help a lot!

> .2 was okay - had VERY FEW bugs and I mean very very few why did you
guys switch - the New grass/side slowdown is awful and hard to navigate
a bit with the keyboard - that could just be me. I think the only thing
was to add new tracks only and maybe the new writing would of been okay,
but this version for gutsy has tooo many bugs to be playable.

I still think the 0.3 release made quite a bit of progress (but then I
wasn't aware of some of the problems you have reported). The slowdown
was actually done on request by players who were taking way too many
shortcuts, which made the highscore lists kind of useless. People
started comapring the shortcuts they were taking, and not the actual
times anymore

I always play STK with keyboard, and find that the 0.3 release requires a bit
more skill with the slow down. You can't simply drive high speed all the time,
you have to brake and slow down, so a bit of an attitude (or driving style)
change is necessary for 0.3. Is this more or less fun? It probably depends on
your taste. But we welcome all feedback, esp. from people just playing it (they
just have a different perspective from us developers).
But I (and the other developers) all agree that this slow down is not that
good, and we will fix this in the next release. Suggestions are welcome: the
main problem is how to avoid people taking unwanted shortcuts, but not
punishing them too much when being only a little bit off track. One solution
would be to redesign the tracks to avoid any possibilities of shortcuts (e.g.
by adding barriers, rocks, ...) - but that on the other time makes impacts the
visual appeal somewhat. The next release will have significantly better physics
(no more stupid stopping when hitting a kart), and we are looking at tweaking
the friction parameters to get a better behaviour.

Cheers,
   Joerg

[Bug 114824] Re: music is disabled in supertuxcart when playing same track a second time

2007-12-10 Thread hiker
Hi,

I am one of the STK admins: it would be very useful for us if bugs are
reported on our web page (or the STK development list, see
http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=202302.

I've put this into our bug tracker (since the 0.3 release a lot of work
has been done, and the issue might already be solved).

Thanks for reporting this!

   Joerg
