[Bug 587797] [NEW] Monitor Settings Keep Changing

2010-05-31 Thread huepfend_schof
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have an external monitor attached to my laptop through a docking station. I
use Ubuntu Lucid Lynx.
I work only with the external monitor and the laptop monitor should be switched
off. This can easily be done with gnome-display-properties.
But sometimes (after a reboot or even during normal working), the monitor
settings are reset such that the laptop monitor is turned on again. This
implicates, that the panel is moving on the laptop screen, which is closed.
Without a panel it is hard to run gnome-display-properties to change the
display settings again (but I can run it with Alt-F2).
In Ubuntu Karmic, I had no problems. How do I disable this new "feature"?
It is hard to say how to reproduce the problem, because it is not regularly
happening. Sometimes after a reboot, sometimes when I start a video, sometimes
after a screensaver period, but not always after these actions.

[Bug 446182] Re: installation in karmic beta doesn't work when I select "Install Ubuntu" (But works when I select "Try Ubuntu")

2009-10-16 Thread huepfend_schof
The CD has no defect, I checked it.
I can't attach /var/log/installer/dm, because it doesn't exist, when the live
environment starts after selecting "Install Ubuntu". When I open the file
system directory, it is just empty.
Removing "quiet splash" makes no change as well.
Sometimes the live environment is even not started, and the screen stays just
black.
Once I even succeeded in starting the installation process, but I couldn't
reproduce it. This time, when it was working, my laptop was attached to my
docking station and I use the external screen and I remove "quiet splash". But
it just worked once...
I used still the daily-live CD 20091014

[Bug 446182] Re: installation in karmic beta doesn't work when I select "Install Ubuntu" (But works when I select "Try Ubuntu")

2009-10-15 Thread huepfend_schof
I tried now the daily-live CD 20091014, and I have still the same
problem as I described: When I select "Install Ubuntu", first I get the
white Ubuntu sign on my screen. Then the screen gets black for a quite
long while. Afterwards the installation process is not started, but the
live cd with the messages I wrote in the bug description. When I select
there install again, I can choose my time region and if I click then on
next, I receive the message: "Install Ubuntu ubi-timezone failed with
exit code 1 ...".

[Bug 446182] [NEW] installation in karmic beta doesn't work when I select "Install Ubuntu" (But works when I select "Try Ubuntu")

2009-10-08 Thread huepfend_schof
Public bug reported:

When you boot the installation CD you have two main choices "Try Ubuntu
on your computer" and "Install Ubuntu on your computer".

When I make the choice to try Ubuntu, everything works well and I can
install Ubuntu without a problem.

But when I select "Install Ubuntu", the live CD is also started, and I get some
errors:
First I get: "The network manager applet could not find some required
resources. It cannot continue".

Afterwards I get the warning: "The computer has only 0 bytes disk space
remaining". And the installation process is not working.

I have a completely new Dell Latitude E5400.

[Bug 92482] Re: NumLock gets enabled unexpectedly on my laptop

2008-10-27 Thread huepfend_schof
The problem is still not solved in Ubuntu Intrepid!!
I use an IBM Thinkpad R50p.
The problem is very annoying, and I am wondering why this bug isn't fixed after
almost 2 years.

[Bug 269858] Re: ZTE MF628 HSDPA USB modem not recognized by network-manager 0.7

2008-10-13 Thread huepfend_schof
Sometimes the modem is loaded with product=0x2000, sometimes with
product=0x0015. But for me it seems to be chance, if it is loaded
correctly or not.

But the good news are: when the driver is loaded with product=0x0015,
then it works perfectly:) (I have installed: ubuntu intrepid beta with
all updates)

[Bug 269858] [NEW] ZTE MF628 HSDPAUSB modem not recognized by network-manager

2008-09-13 Thread huepfend_schof
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

My HSDPA USB Modem is the MF628 from ZTE.
I installed the alpha 5 of ubuntu intrepid, which uses the kernel 2.6.27 where
the modem driver is included. But with the Network-manager(version 0.7) I can't
connect this modem.

Some more information:

"lsusb -vvv" gives this output:
