[Bug 1106954] [NEW] Package Owners should have ability to contact authors of comments

2013-01-27 Thread icb410
Public bug reported:

Some comment authors incorrectly state problems with packages or have
other issues that may be easily addressed, but they do not use support
resources and leave negative comments instead. Package owners should
have ability to contact them privately to address issues and provided
better customer service (especially for paid apps). This would hopefully
lead to comment edits that would improve software usage/sales.

I tried a work around posted on askubuntu
(http://askubuntu.com/questions/247531/can-i-respond-to-comments-in-
software-center-as-app-developer/247679#247679), however I get no
results back for my package. I don't know if the api changed or
something.

** Affects: software-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 510059] Re: Gvfs keeps asking for password when trying to mount Samba share

2012-04-04 Thread icb410
Solution in #29 fixed it for me. I already had the client lanman auth =
yes from 11.10 to get it to work. It was the ntlmv2 line that was
needed for 12.04. I am connecting to a netgear Nv+ NAS.

Re: [Bug 940603] Re: white box randomly shows up at top left corner blocking applications from using stuff under it

2012-03-29 Thread icb410
I haven't had the issue occur since I changed one setting in ccsm
animations plugin: Focus Animation>Focus Effect>None. Previously it was
N/A which seemed very strange to me so I changed it. Now there isn't even
an N/A in the selection box. Haven't had a white box since then (couple of
days).

2012-03-16 Thread icb410
Hi,

Just tried printing the above files(#28), In the first
(brother-t3-font-01.ps), I get a mostly empty page with two lines at the
bottom (1:) and (2:) and 3 repeats of _ _ triangleglyph squareglyph

The second file gives two pages, the first is blank except for the gedit
header. The second does not have the header, but the following text:

Yep... the header was present in all of them. I have the same issue
printing from Geany, though the only thing not lines and dashes are the
header box and side line for the line numbers. I'll attach that printout
in case that helps with anything.

Neither nocache file worked (got dots and dashes).

I used the following commands to test:
 lpr -P Brother-HL-5250DN-series -oraw
Downloads/printout-uncompressed-nocache-02.ps

I guess the -oraw ignores the ppd file and sends it unfiltered... sorry
for not really understanding what I was doing.

None of them worked. #2 and #5 had the header and no text or weird

printed out 2 pages on my HL5250DN printer using the Brother-HL-5250DN

[Bug 776435] Re: Window maximizes on the wrong workspace

2012-03-14 Thread icb410
I still have this problem with:
Compiz 0.9.7.0 (1:0.9.7.0+bzr3035-0ubuntu1)
unity 5.6.0 (5.6.0-0ubuntu4)
Linux ubuntu 3.2.0-18-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 9 21:36:08 UTC 2012 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Both the maximize bug to wrong monitor on multi-monitor displays and the
maximize to wrong workspace occur.

BTW, is the maximize to wrong monitor on mulit-monitor displays really
related to the maximize to wrong workspace? I don't need the window
size to be half on the wrong monitor (in fact it doesn't even need to
be on the monitor it ends up maximizing to). It seems like a separate
issue to me and I don't understand why it's been marked a duplicate of
this bug.

Using the files above, I can print the 11.10 file with
> lpr -P Brother-HL-5250DN-series -oraw printout-11.10
but not
> lpr -P Brother-HL-5250DN-series -oraw printout-12.04

Again, I don't know if it's meaningful, but there is quite a delay with
the working file (like the printer is parsing data) and none at all with
the non-working file (get blank page spit out immediately).

I finally fixed it by going through all the drivers... This one works for me:
 Brother HL-5250DN Foomatic/pxlmono

I'll attach the output from the original, recommended driver (BR-
Script3) that doesn't work and the new driver.

Here's the one that doesn't work.

[Bug 948151] Re: Large windows switch monitor when maximized

2012-03-11 Thread icb410
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 776435 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776435

Is this really a duplicate of bug #776435? The windows aren't being
maximized to the wrong workspace, but to the wrong monitor on the same
workspace in a dual-monitor setup. You also don't need the window to be
half on the other monitor as was reported for the workspace bug, but
just slightly wider than the smaller monitor dimension. In fact, if you
put the window on the smaller monitor and shift it so that half of it is
in the bottom workspace and maximize, it goes to the bottom workspace
AND to the wrong monitor. This bug also did not occur in Oneiric, while
the workspace one did.

[Bug 948151] Re: Large windows switch monitor when maximized

2012-03-09 Thread icb410
Here's a video of the behavior. Sometimes it actually does work properly.
Usually this occurs after snapping the window to half the monitor and then
resizing across the desktop (see ~1.5-2min), however I can't consistently
reproduce it or sometimes get it to go back to the buggy behavior. Hope this
helps. Sorry for the poor quality of the video (it was my first screencast and
I scaled down to make it a smaller file size).
Ian

[Bug 948107] [NEW] Maximize window on multi-monitor display puts it on the wrong monitor

2012-03-06 Thread icb410
Public bug reported:

When a dual-monitor display with different resolutions are used, if a
large window is moved from the large display to the small display
(completely) and then maximized, it is maximized in the large display
rather than the smaller monitor. This doesn't happen if the size of the
window is smaller than the width dimension of the monitor (height
doesn't matter). It occurs when pressing the maximize button, dragging
the title bar to the panel, or double clicking the title bar.

Placing the window on half the screen by dragging to the edge works fine
and then it can be maximized to the full monitor.

This behavior should be fixed so that if the majority of a window is in
monitor X, it will be maximized to monitor X.

[Bug 938758] Re: AutoHidden launcher reveal sensitivity adjustment should allow disabling push-past for wacom tablets

2012-03-02 Thread icb410
Found the setting using ccsm to manually make this happen. In the
experimental tab of the unity plugin turn the "Launcher Reveal Pressure"
setting to 1. I assume that the sensitivity adjustment slider in the
system settings changes the "Launcher Reveal Edge Responsiveness" from
1-8, which the tooltip says is a "conglomerate setting". Maybe you
should refactor that conglomerate.

[Bug 930148] Re: Dodge windows is down but what about making the launcher autohide only on maximised apps ?

2012-03-02 Thread icb410
I 100% agree... I can't stand the new algorithm for the auto-hide since
it relies on moving the mouse past the edge to activate. I have tried
turning up the sensitivity, but still have to hit the side more than
once! I want my dodge windows/intellihide back!

So far every other part of the new unity at 12.04 experience I love.
Please fix this!

[Bug 938758] Re: AutoHidden launcher reveal sensitivity adjustment should allow disabling push-past for wacom tablets

2012-03-02 Thread icb410
I'm on a laptop and can't stand this feature! I have to move my mouse
against the edge several times sometimes if the algorithm thinks I
didn't hit it hard enough. That's with the sensitivity turned all the
way up!

Bad enough you took away dodge windows functionality. Please make this
work at least or I can't use autohide.

[Bug 757221] Re: [q45] unlocking screensaver - graphics are not updated any more

2011-10-25 Thread icb410
I'm testing it now (3.1-rc10)... so far so good but I want to keep
testing it for a couple of days since it sometimes seemed a little
random. Also, turns out my grub wasn't updating properly before and I
never realized I wasn't running an up-to-date kernel (2.6.38-8.42) so
this may have been fixed in a v3.0 kernel . I'll post back in a couple
of days if everything goes well or not.

[Bug 757221] Re: [q45] unlocking screensaver - graphics are not updated any more

2011-10-24 Thread icb410
I have this bug as well, usually I observe it after suspending my laptop for a
long period of time (closing the lid). I'm running Oneiric with

I don't run a screen saver but the screen lock dialog when I fire back
up the computer doesn't appear. To unfreeze I drop to a terminal (ctl-
alt-F1) and sigkill compiz (using htop) which restarts it. Then I get
the login screen (unless I type my password and enter in the graphics
terminal before killing compiz). I get the same errors in my Xorg.0.log

unexpectedly- but there's no other problems. The crash dialog is only
shown once (and apport isn't run).

This is affecting me as well and not giving a good impression of linux

The document saves just fine in .odt and as a pdf (at least) but I am
going to be forced to find a mac or perhaps fire up a VM to run MSword
unless this gets sorted out.

[Bug 717843] Re: python2.7 & python imaging (PIL) dumps core with buffer overflow

2011-04-02 Thread icb410
I have this issue too with some custom scripts that reads the intensity data
from a grayscale TIF image of the output of a CCD detector (7_WAXS) and then
radially averages. Occurs with python2.6 as well. Another TIF image from a
different type of detector works, but I'm not really sure of the difference in
files. One may have 32bit samples (the one that works, 7_SAXS) as imagemagick
gives an error (it's also smaller ~400x600 vs 1042x1042).
The output of file gives:

7_SAXS: TIFF image data, little-endian
7_WAXS: TIFF image data, big-endian

I'm attaching the two images, and here's the output of the core dump:

Re: [Bug 409819] Re: [regression] Built-in mic not working after pulse updates on Karmic. Intel 82801H (ICH8 Family) sound card.

2009-09-26 Thread icb410
This fix (setting to Analog duplex) doesn't work for me, neither does the
options position_fix=1 in alsa_base.conf. I can get microphone 2 to work by
plugging in something to the front mic jack, but microphone 1 never picks up
any sound.

[Bug 429523] Re: bluetooth-wizard will not run - assertion failure

2009-09-24 Thread icb410
I get slightly different error message about being unable to open a
library:

$ bluetooth-properties

** (bluetooth-properties:19667): WARNING **: error opening /usr/lib
/gnome-bluetooth/plugins/libnma.so: libnm-glib-vpn.so.0: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

existing type `BluetoothClient'

(bluetooth-properties:19667): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion

^C

The libraries are present.

[Bug 430071] Re: no network since last update

2009-09-15 Thread icb410
This is the same as Bug #430405. Network manager does not start
automatically anymore. I'm not familiar with the upstart system, but
"sudo start network-manager" gets everything up and running. However,
it doesn't work on the next boot. From the /etc/init/network-
manager.conf file, it should start automatically if the hal and dbus
services are started:

# network-manager - network connection manager
#
# The Network Manager daemon manages the system's network connections,
# automatically switching between the best available.

description "network connection manager"

start on (filesystem
  and started dbus
  and started hal)
stop on (stopping dbus
 or stopping hal)

expect fork
respawn

exec NetworkManager

dbus and hal are started through /etc/init.d/ scripts. Does the Upstart
system recognize this? If not, I suppose we'll have to make do until
someone converts them to start through Upstart.

[Bug 429523] Re: bluetooth-wizard will not run - assertion failure

2009-09-14 Thread icb410
I get a similar message with bluetooth-properties:

i...@ubulaptop:~$ bluetooth-properties

** (bluetooth-properties:12151): WARNING **: Could not open RFKILL
control device, please verify your installation

(bluetooth-properties:12151): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register
existing type `BluetoothClient'

(bluetooth-properties:12151): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave:
assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed

These commands start and peg the CPU near 100% until I kill them. The
bluetooth-sendto dialogue seems to work ok.

[Bug 423090] Re: "setup new device" doesn't do anything

2009-09-14 Thread icb410
The wizard is no longer working for me at all. If I run it from a console, the
error is now:

The process consumes all of my CPU until I kill it. If this should be
considered a new bug, I'm sorry for posting along the old thread.

[Bug 409819] Re: [regression] Microphone not working after pulse updates on Karmic

2009-08-16 Thread icb410
ok... I plugged a pair of headphones into my front microphone jack and
that gives input on Microphone 2. I can record sound and play it back.
Microphone 1 still does not work. Note that I had to toggle all the
input switches on gnome-soundmixer and switch the input to Microphone 2
under gnome sound preferences. If I switch back to microphone 1 on
sound preferences, the input 1 box comes unchecked in the soundmixer.

[Bug 409819] Re: [regression] Microphone not working after pulse updates on Karmic

2009-08-16 Thread icb410
Hi,

I'm having this issue as well. Here's my hardware:

i...@ubulaptop:~$ lspci | grep Audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 02)

i...@ubulaptop:~$ arecord -l
 List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: STAC92xx Analog [STAC92xx Analog]
  Subdevices: 3/3
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
  Subdevice #1: subdevice #1
  Subdevice #2: subdevice #2

In volume controls, mic 2 has more background noise than mic 1, but
recording from either produces just noise. Attached is my pacmd list
sources as well.
