[Bug 443113] Re: "Error probing SMB2" boot message on nVidia ION chipset (Acer Aspire Revo, ASrock ION 330, ASUS netbooks...)
Same with a Asus M3N78-EM Motherboard. To get Ubuntu booting every time you can disable the splash screen in the kernel parameter or hit ESC while Ubuntu is showing the splash screen. With this booting won't stuck. To disable splash screen modify as root in /etc/default/grub GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="" Save it and run as root: update-grub -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/443113 Title: "Error probing SMB2" boot message on nVidia ION chipset (Acer Aspire Revo, ASrock ION 330, ASUS netbooks...) [Bug 446510] Re: Evince refuses to load remote pdf files (http) which it will load nicely once they are downloaded.
* Is this reproducible? Yes. * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? If you have a remote PDF file with relative links to an other file on the server, evince can not open it. I investigated on this and it seems that evince can handle this properly if the file is opend directly (e.g. via shell # evince http://www.example.org/pathto/file.pdf). But when open a pdf file via browser while surfing (in my case Firefox) it doesn't pass the url to evince but the path to the downloaded file. To fix this, the browser should only pass the url to the external application. * Expected behaviour As Adobe Reader BrowserPlugin: Render the pdf 'on the server'. Then the relative links to others documents on the server would work. And: Do not open relative linked Documents in an new window, replace the existing document instead. * Testcase I've made a simple testcase with two files. Extract those into a local folder. Open Mainfile.pdf and click on the link. Second_file.pdf is (as expected) opend in an new window. Now upload the files to a server and open Mainfile.pdf on the Server via Browser. ** Attachment added: "Testcase with two linked files" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/446510/+attachment/1836549/+files/Testcase_rel_links_evince.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446510 Title: Evince refuses to load remote pdf files (http) which it will load nicely once they are downloaded. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 633256] [NEW] Ubuntu freezes during startup (hit esc solves this)
Public bug reported: When booting up the splash-screen freezes Hitting once the esc key while boot resolves this temporarily. This workaround fixed the issue: (stolen from bug #620606) Modify as root: /etc/default/grub GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="" save file and run as root: update-grub This removes the splash screen from system boot and makes the boot process visible on screen as text. [Bug 519535] Re: Shift + Alt Gr no longer works as the Compose key
Same here: According to Documentation (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ComposeKey) the use of shift+ AtlGr should be the default Compose Key (Multi_Key). 1. Shift + AltGr doesn't behave as compose key even if Compose Key isn't defined. 2. Go to Layout Options (System → Preferences → Keyboard →Layouts → [Layout Options]) and change 'compose key position' to any key. Close. Now you can make all characters defined in GtkConmposeTable (eg compose_key + o + r [®]). 3. Go back to 'Layout Options' and deactivate all 'compose key postitions'. Close (you can even relogin). 4. None of the charakters defined in GtkConmposeTable can't be typed using shift + AltGr as compose key (eg Shift + AltGr + o + r ). It isn't a solution to choose AltGr manually as Compose Key because afterwards AltGr and AltGr + Shift (as 4rd Level Chooser) won't work anymore. -- Shift + Alt Gr no longer works as the Compose key https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519535 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
