I can browse around, transfer files, etc. Things are normal. After some time, the drive will unmount. Power-cycling the bay does not help. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I plugged in my Dell 24" S2409W with HDMI into my Lenovo IdeaPad Y650 (418534U) and turned on the dual monitor using the Display applet. Correct resolution found: 1920x1080 but the full screen could not be used. It's as if the screens are overlapping, but they are not set to do that in the applet. 2 screenshots are attached. One is a photo of my computer when the screensaver was on. You can see the area that is essentially inactive. @Robert thanks, that solved it. It's strange though, because some update to mono that came down from Ubuntu must've uninstalled the posix2.0-cil package.
