[Bug 1730909] [NEW] plymouth cannot coexist with console-common
Public bug reported: Plymouth has the following entry in the control file: Conflicts: console-common The reason for that is found in the following bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=606132#44 In the latest version of console-common, the problem service "keymap.sh" has been removed for a number of reasons: console-common (0.7.89) unstable; urgency=medium [Felipe Sateler] * Drop keymap.sh script, superseded in favor of console-setup Closes: #796606, #677314, #276220, #516002, #723987. -- Alastair McKinstry Tue, 29 Dec 2015 01:04:20 + Therefor the "Conflicts: console-common" should be removed, as the reason is no longer valid. Not only is invalid dependency information generally a bad thing, we have a requirement for both the co-exist, and this is obviously getting the way the way. Sorry James - this was fixed in 14.0.0 by the a patch from the calico guys. I backpacked the patch to the 13.2 mitaka packages, and it works. [Bug 1668704] Re: Cannot type any input into web pages with epiphany browser after upgrade
I just had a look at what other versoins might be available in the repos, and found the security repo has a lower version: $ apt-cache madison epiphany-browser epiphany-browser | 3.18.10-0ubuntu1 | http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/universe amd64 Packages epiphany-browser | 3.18.5-0ubuntu1.1 | http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-security/universe amd64 Packages I just downgraded from 3.18.10-0ubuntu1 to 3.18.5-0ubuntu1.1 - which has fixed the issue. So the problem is introduced somewhere between those two versions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1668704 Title: Cannot type any input into web pages with epiphany browser after upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/epiphany-browser/+bug/1668704/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1024475] Re: libnss-ldap causes boot hang on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise
At some point, this started working again after a dist-upgrade, so nss_initgroups_ignoreusers is working for me. The only thing I've done on top of that for house keeping purposes, is to modify the init script to remove the ignoreusers line on system start (the configs are controlled vi puppet, and the file will keep changing otherwise). For anyone else with a similar issue, I'm using this: ~~ #! /bin/sh -e ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: libnss-ldap # Required-Start: # Required-Stop: mountall.sh # Default-Start: 2 3 4 5 # Default-Stop: 0 1 6 # Short-Description: Updates /etc/ldap.conf # Description: Updates nss_initgroups_ignoreusers based on #nss_initgroups_minimum_uid ### END INIT INFO PATH="/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin" . /lib/lsb/init-functions case "$1" in start) log_action_begin_msg "Removing nssldap-update-ignoreusers changes" if sed -i "/^nss_initgroups_ignoreusers/d" /etc/ldap.conf ; then log_action_end_msg 0 else log_action_end_msg 1 exit 1 fi ;; restart|force-reload|stop) log_action_begin_msg "Running nssldap-update-ignoreusers" if nssldap-update-ignoreusers ; then log_action_end_msg 0 else log_action_end_msg 1 exit 1 fi ;; *) echo "Usage: $0 {start|restart|force-reload|stop}" exit 1 ;; esac exit 0 ~~ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1024475 Title: libnss-ldap causes boot hang on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnss-ldap/+bug/1024475/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1024475] Re: libnss-ldap causes boot hang on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise
This is still an issue on 14.04 LTS. This was fixed ages ago with this change: libnss-ldap (251-5.2) unstable; urgency=high * Change the init script policy. Instead of stopping libnss-ldap.init on clean shutdown (touching a file) and starting it after networking (rm-ing it), we touch the file in /lib/init/rw as soon as possible (right before udev is started, touching a file) and stop it after initial system bootup. This fixes both issues with /var being on a separate partition, and unclean shutdown where the file would not be created. (To make sure we don't get similar problems during shutdown, we create it in runlevels 0 and 6 as before, but we don't assume it's still there when we boot, since it's on a tmpfs now.) (Closes: #375077) ..but at some point got removed with this change: libnss-ldap (259-1) unstable; urgency=low * Remove old kluge /etc/init.d/libnss-ldap Not totally sure what was supposed to be replacing that "kluge", maybe it was the "nss_initgroups_ignoreusers" thing, but it's not working currently, that's for sure. Boot time is well over 2 mins atm, verses about 5 seconds with the ldap entry removed for groups in nsswitch.conf Someone must have some ideas for this. [Bug 799938] Re: Trackpad of Dell XPS 15z not working
Hi, I also have the XPS 15z running Oneiric, it's got a lovely big touchpad, but because it's so big it's hard not to accidentally touch as you type! That is very annoying. So wile forcing the psmouse kernel module into a "fail safe" mode does make it work, we still need to be able to get it properly recognised as a touhpad to allow us to set "disable touchpad while typeing". Not to mention, this a multitouch touchpad :) How can we move forward with this? The kernel.org bug tracker is offline :( Any suggestions? So no one wants to fix it then..? I started this bug report, and my original problem remains. I'm glad that someone else's issue was fixed, but that was not the subject of this bug. I supplied info when requested. Indeed, the last comments on this bug were from me. My original problem remains. This doesn't really make me feel like raising any further bugs, even for the good of the project, as the response I received on this one has been poor. Indeed, now it's closed due to lack of activity. If further information was required from me, then it should have been requested, I'm not psychic. [Bug 541857] Re: Boot stalls waiting for Luks encrypted external disk after upgrade to Lucid from Karmic
Hi, I believe our disk problems are actually slightly different. My system won't boot if I have the entry in fstab, but without the external encrypted disk attached. If I remove the entry from fstab, the system will then boot without the disk. In addition, after testing again, I also realised that boot fails with the disk attached as well! If I remove the entry from fstab, the system boots with or without the disk. This config was fine with Karmic. I was able to leave the entry in fstab, and boot with or without the drive. I updated the packages on this system today, added the entry back into fstab, then tried to boot without the disk attached again. The problem is still present, it fails to boot in the same way as before. I'll attach screen shots of the boot with and without the disk, with the entry in fstab. [Bug 541857] [NEW] Boot stalls waiting for Luks encrypted external disk after upfrade to Lucid from Karmic
Public bug reported: After upgrading from Karmic to Lucid, I rebooted to complete the upgrade. However, early in the boot process, it displays a message like "Waiting for /data (SD)", and never proceeds any further. I believe the system was attempting to fsck the drive, but the drive was not attached at the time attached. fstab entry: LABEL=DATA /data ext4relatime0 2 If I choose to boot without splash, the process halts after displaying a message: Init: Unreadable other main process (896) terminated with status 4 I did not have the drive to attach, so the only fix was to remove it from fstab after booting off a live CD. Whenever I add the entry back into fstab, the boot process halts at the same point again. That configuration was fine under Karmic. Packages are fully up to date as of now. If I need to provide more info, please let me know. [Bug 372345] Re: Compiz memory leak / Xorg memory leak
Hi, I'm experiencing this exact same issue with Jaunty, but using the Intel driver. I have to restart X twice a day at work! :) Can we get a similar fix for Intel users?
