[Bug 1195270] Re: DEFT 7.1 Installer crash
DEFT 7 is based on Lubuntu 11.10 and the project's forum actually contains a topic where is is advised against upgrading to 12.04 (cf. http://www.deftlinux.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=127 ). However I did see somewhere else (sorry, I can't remember where) the problem is that DEF Linux 7 installer crashes instead of warning the user there is not enough space on the destination partition. So the simple sollution is to simply use a bigger partition (about 4.6GB seem to me to be the very least but it will definitelly install alright on a 5GB (for DEFT 7.1, latest release is actually 7.2). There is also an expired similar bug for DEFT 7.2. I could find it when I posted this bug (which I did because the version is different) but now at this moment. Sorry. So I changed this to NEW but the workaround/sollution is rather simple. The "bug" is just lack of information... Not sure how to mark this though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1195270 Title: DEFT 7.1 Installer crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1195270/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1195270] [NEW] DEFT 7.1 Installer crash
Public bug reported: The installer for DEF 7.1 (Lubuntu based distro) crashed after manual disk partioning and zone/keyboard choice, i.e. in the process of or after copying files. No other interaction on my part. [Bug 218070] Re: Nautilus not showing the desktop icons & wallpaper on login
I have had this issue in Jaunty: Desktop background OK. Showing icons and right-click on desktop menu FAILED. Duplication: I'm not sure how this happened - I installed quite a few things (in a hurry) and only later did I notice I had no desktop right-click menu nor icons. However, I would find it more likely that using desktop-switcher was what caused this as it also completely messed the content of my panels (as well as *permanently* removing the bottom panel). Workarounds: Using tweakui as mentioned in #5 on 2008-05-12 by AlexE worked. But after session restart, the problem came back. Deleting the ~/.compiz and ~/.gconf/compiz directories (instead of the, in my system, non-existing ~/.metacity) as mentioned in #19 on 2008-06-22 by kulturschock2000, and *then* using AlexE's trick seems to have solved the problem definitely. -- Nautilus not showing the desktop icons & wallpaper on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218070 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The list of the packages that could NOT be updated (for one reason or the other), til the upgrade process was aborted, is: - gnome-power-manager - gnome-session (I'm using lxp-icewm) - hal - network-manager (which I never used anyhow) - policykit - policykit-gnome - pulseaudio - ubuntu-desktop - update-manager Synaptic shows NO broken packages! (though some of the above allegedly failed due to broken dependencies) Should I try to RE-install them? (Synaptic shows them as installed and up to date!) I mean, the system's got a few glitches right now but it's more or less usable (just very slow) -- package update-manager 1:0.87.24 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/224421 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 224415] Re: package policykit 0.7-2ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade:
Actually, there was another (maybe two other) bug report that should have come out bu... 1. Firefox got in the way with the updating the extensions and stuff and I kind of unmindingly restarted it and then there was already another bug report and I'd overwritten the first link in the clipboard... It was a messa already and I didn't keep myself calm enough to prevent it from going worse... But basically, now I got this (translating from Portuguese): " Installing updates impossible. The update ended. Your system may be in a useless state. A recovery will now proceed " I suppose the "useless state" would be after I restarted were the said recovery not to take place. [Bug 71684] Re: Unable to burn multisession disk
I believe this is NOT a bug particular to GnomeBaker as much as a problem with the backend cdrecord or growisofs, more concisely related to burning a second session on a disk with RockRidge extensions. I get the same problem with Brasero. And if using the growisofs directly I get a message such as: ".rr_moved/content" has the same name as ".rr_moved/content" It seems none of the linux programs I tried like to burn a second session with rockridge on a disc that already has rockridge in it... -- Unable to burn multisession disk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71684 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
