For me adding acpi=offwithout the quotes to the line starting
with kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.28 in /boot/grub/menu.lst
turned off the errors in my syslog. Although with this option I have to
manually turn off the computer when I shut it down. Ubuntu will close
everything, but will not power off once it is completed closing.

It is still persistent for me in Jaunty, after upgrading from Intrepid.
I have tried all the above fixes with no luck. I also tried devilspie
to create a rule to close the notification but that doesn't work either.

I upgraded from Intrepid to Jaunty a couple of months ago, and didn't

[Bug 345943] [NEW] timeouts using synaptic and update-manager

2009-03-20 Thread jfulton3
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

I am getting excessive amounts of timeouts trying to update or install
software using either update-manager or synaptic. Is it possible to add
a resume feature? Many ISP's limit daily download limits, and trying to
download a 10mb update dozens of times uses up this bandwidth very
quickly. I have tried gksudo synaptic -o APT::http::Timeout=240 but
I still have the same problems. I usually don't have this problem
downloading from other sources.
