[Bug 589342] Re: [STAGING] rt2860 chipset no longer works out of the box

2010-10-17 Thread jhellen
Blacklisted rt2800pci in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and the connection
got more stable but not stable enough. Before it disconnected every
minute and now it keeps connected a few minutes longer.

This worked almost perfectly in 10.04

[Bug 213696] Re: Ubuntu Can't Mount LiveFS CDs Burned on Vista

2010-09-12 Thread jhellen
Found this fix from 2007 in the ubuntuforums. Just move the udf
parameter in the fstab like this:

BEFORE:
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0
AFTER:
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 iso9660,udf user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0

[Bug 102203] Re: [apport] gnome-app-install crashed with AssertionError in clean()

2008-03-21 Thread jhellen
Maybe it has to do with gnome-compiz that I tried to remove but it
refuses to be removed and blocks all other operations. Everything stops
on gnome-compiz, both sudo apt-get remove and synaptic. Tried different
apt-get commands to get it fixed but this is quite stubborn ;) I guess
I'm just not using the right commands to solve this.

connected to the hub. USB-keyboard and USB-wireless mouse works every

working after that. The mouse works if it's connected directly to the
laptop. BTW this setup works fine in Vista.

[Bug 134711] Folder in Bookmark Toolbar makes ff crash

2007-08-25 Thread jhellen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I have a folder in the Bookmark Toolbar Folder that I want to open
(click) but everytime I open it it crashes Firefox. I wouldn't say this
is the same as #25030 beacuse I only have to click once to make it
crash.

When I started with firefox -g and did the same thing the gdb froze and
caused everything else to freeze also. CPU was somewhere between 10-20%
and the only thing I could do was to move the mouse pointer. When I then
killed gdb from another terminal I had this message in the gdb terminal:

Starting program: /usr/lib/firefox/firefox-bin -a firefox

[Bug 125207] [apport] gnome-screensaver crashed with SIGSEGV

I fired up my computer and clicked the update-manager because there were
some updates available. Then it told me that it would be better to do a
smart-upgrade even if I had Feisty already with the latest updates. Then
some update couldn't be fetched and it started to report crashed from
almost every installed application even if they weren't running at the

colors mixed. I tried different layouts but got the same result
everytime.

I chose English as language but Finnish keyboard. I also tried the

Re: [Bug 66376] Re: update-manager -c -d (can't find DistUpgradeViewGtk)

2006-10-17 Thread jhellen
I installed python-vte and the upgrade started nicely. I went away
from my computer and when I came back the screen was all black and I
couldn't kill anything. I had to powerdown and start everything over.
Luckily I could type some commands after this incident. There was
about ten dependency problems that were easily solved just by
installing them. One of them was libnewt0.52

Later it also complained something about sysenter_past_esp+0x54/0x75
but that disappeared after a couple of upgrades :)

Afetr about ten dist-upgrades I finally got my system running again
with all updates.

The upper panel was filled with unknown (gnome-feet) icons. BTW I
found one beside that show-desktop icons also. Everything else works
fine now.

I cannot really tell what's new in this but it feels nice and complete.

Thanks!
- Jukka

Re: [Bug 33933] Re: crashed at login

I'm using Gmail and it's making these replies as a conversation. Last
time you asked me "do you still have that issue?" and my reply before
that was about firefox :)

Concerning that Gnome-applet crash. No, I don't have that problem
anymore.

2006-09-25 Thread jhellen
Yes, I still have that issue and it's really annoying. I don't think
this is a problem with a fresh Ubuntu-install because I haven't seen
it anywhere else.

On my second computer firefox runs just fine and I think I even use
the same extensions and no themes.

I still also have the mousescrolling problem that was fixed some time
ago. The fix worked for my dad but for me it just keeps on scrolling
sideways when I scroll the mousewheel too fast. I have all the updates
installed and tried the manual fix by editing xorg.conf .

I'm really tempted to do a fresh install with Edgy Eft later but it
would be nice to know that these types of problems can be fixed :)

Probably a mistake :) Don't know why I have posted that firefox
information there.

Yes but not as often as before. Haven't tried the new firefox 1.5.0.5 much
lately so the problem may have been fixed.
A week ago I got Segmentation fault with the previous version of firefox in
dapper.

[Bug 42656] Re: [Bug 42656] Re: sk98lin ethernet connection sometimes fails to start

2006-06-30 Thread jhellen
Yes I have to do that every now and then. Sometimes it's almost like opening
the network manager and just doing anything there will get my eth0 up.
Usually I just do deactivat -> activate + gateway eth0 ...then it works. The
weird part is that this problem doesn't occur everytime I start my computer
:(
