I cannot give you a proc_version_signature.log since the command:
 cat /proc/version_signature proc_version_signature.log

gives me this output:
cat: /proc/version_signature: No such file or directory

[Bug 124431] dvd drive not found

2007-07-06 Thread jmlmrk
Public bug reported:

I installed kubuntu gutsy with cd alternate. DVD drive was seen and
installation went without problem.
on the installed system, the DVD drive is not seen.
when i tried the following command:
sudo mount /media/cdrom

it returns:
mount: special device /dev/hda does not exist

when starting on recovery mode, I can see the message for trying and failing
to mount the drive
I tried to add noapic and acpi=off at boot, but no change.

I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv2500t, Intel 965 chipset (Santa Rosa)
I am using Gutsy 64bits

I am ok to send you any log and report you need and test whatever you
think can help you solve the problem.

** Affects: Ubuntu
