[Bug 1885359] [NEW] FTBFS: circular dependency golang-github-viant-{assertly, toolbox}
Public bug reported: golang-github-viant-assertly [1] currently fails to build because golang-github-viant-toolbox-dev is missing [2]. This package is built by golang-github-viant-toolbox [3]. However, it fails to build because golang-github-viant-assertly-dev - from the first package - is missing [4]. Bonus round: further up the chain, a third package [5] is waiting for toolbox-dev, while itself being the dependency of a fourth [5]. These two will likely automatically build once the circular dependency is resolved, but I've included them for completeness. Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better. Error messages like this usually indicates that the file in question (/usr/share/mime/packages/qlcplus.xml) is present in two packages, so one is preventing the other from being installed. When comparing https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/amd64/qlcplus/filelist and https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/all/qlcplus-data/filelist that doesn't seem to be the case though... I was a bit puzzled why you had an older version number, untill I saw you seem to have installed from the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Beta release. Could you please run `sudo apt update` or similar and apply any upgrades. It might have tried to fetch and install the older version, though updating the system should resolve that. [Bug 1878206] Re: will not load firmware on 20.04
Ok, good :) Thanks for checking. I must admit I am not sure what caused the lock in the first place, though it may have been a check for updates running in the backgorund. I believe this sometimes happens right after booting, so if it became ok after waiting a while that might have been it. In any case, since the issue seems to have been resolved, I've taken the liberty of closing this issue. If it should happen again, please leave a comment and we'll reopen it. If the error message lists a process as in the first example " It is held by process 4155 (apt-get)", please run `ps -ef | grep 4155` (replace the number with the process id given). [Bug 1876788] Re: libboost-signals-dev not present in focal (64 bit)
Indeed, I saw this too. It appears that libbost-signals-dev is no longer built by the 1.71.0.0ubuntu2 source package ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boost- defaults/1.71.0.0ubuntu2). It is also absent from the Debian experimental package (https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/boost-defaults). I didn't find any mentions of the package in the change logs so it is hard to tell if it was intentional or not. It could perhaps be explained by the jump from 1.67 to 1.71, but I am not familiar enough with upstream to tell if the library was dropped or not... ** Changed in: boost-defaults (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: packaging -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876788 Title: libboost-signals-dev not present in focal (64 bit) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boost-defaults/+bug/1876788/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1878206] Re: will not load firmware on 20.04
Thanks for reporting. Based on the error message, this doesn't seem to be directly caused by firmware-b43-installer. It looks like there's a different apt-get process currently running, perhaps installing other packages in a different terminal? Could you check if all other apt-get processes are finished and if you still get the same error? Normally it is only possible to run one apt-get process at the time, though it should remove the lock once finished. If a lock is still "left behind" that might be a bug in apt. ** Changed in: b43-fwcutter (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878206 Title: will not load firmware on 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/b43-fwcutter/+bug/1878206/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1878709] Re: prometheus is unbuildable in Focal
>it was copied over from Debian, Yes, the sourcce was copied/synced from Debian, but to my knowledge all binary packages are rebuilt on Ubuntu? Anyways, I did some digging [1] and found the build log for amd64 [2]. When searching for any of the troublesome dependencies, I see that they were installed from focal-proposed, for instance: Get:105 http://ftpmaster.internal/ubuntu focal-proposed/universe amd64 golang-github-prometheus-client-golang-dev all 1.2.1-3 [100 kB] So it looks like the newer versions were in -proposed, and prometheus built successfully the first time round. It then looks like the newer versions never migrated from -proposed to the -release pocket for unknown reasons and they are currently in groovy-proposed. Prometheus on the other hand, did end up in -release and without the dependencies it now fails to build. (I am not sure how prometheus migrated to -release before its build dependencies were, I thought that was a requirement in order to avoid issues like this...) [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
As workaround for those with just one monitor (or many but the same size), I tried what Kristo Ojasaar (kristoo) already suggested and I found something even simpler. There is no needs for the 'Tweak'-tool: For a 4k monitor, set it to 100% and go to Settings -> Universal Access and activate 'large text'. Now the 'scaling' is more or less what 125% under Ubuntu 19.10 used to be. Seeing something so simple solving this, I wonder why the developers do not a define a css style-sheet (or however the gui colors / font size etc are defined) for the different scaling options and apply these as soon e.g. '125%' scaling is activated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1870736 Title: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200% To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1870736/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1878587] [NEW] pk-client-error-quarl could not get lock when selecting driver from synaptic
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce (Ubuntu 20.04, synaptic 0.84.6ubuntu5, software-properties-gtk 0.98.9) 1. Open synaptic 2. click in "parameters" menu, then "repositories". This will open a "Software and update" window 3. click on "additional drivers" tab 4. select a new driver (example : I have nvidia 435 installed, I select nvidia 440) 5. click apply Expected behaviour : the selected driver is installed Actual behaviour: you get an error window with message: "pk-client-error-quark: E: could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-front-end. It is held by process 9246 (synaptic)" Workaround: launch "software update" directly without synaptic I understand that synaptic must be closed in order to let another software updating process operate. But this software update has been initiated from synaptic and I cannot close synaptic when software update is opened. It is opened like a modal window... Ithink either this feature should be removed from synaptic or avtrick must be found to have it releasing the lock as long as the "software update" window it has triggered is opened; or maybe synaptic and software-update-gtk could share the lock in this situation ? For now it is impossible to install additional driver if you launched it from synaptic. [Bug 1877650] Re: Fails to remove /var/lib/command-not-found/ when package is purged
Thanks for reporting. I get the same warning when running `sudo apt purge command-not-found` on Ubuntu Groovy. I suppose these files are generated, but not marked as part of command-not-found. `dpkg -S /var/lib/command-not-found` correctly identifies that the directory is part of `command-not-found` (when the package is installed), but is unable to find matches for the files contained within. ** Changed in: command-not-found (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: groovy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1877650 Title: Fails to remove /var/lib/command-not-found/ when package is purged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/command-not-found/+bug/1877650/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Closing marked on your latest comment. Note that you can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current status in the yellow line and then choosing a new status in the revealed drop down box. :) Also, when reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected.
