[Bug 2060947] Re: Warnings produced in apt upgrade processing triggers for initramfs-tools

2024-05-24 Thread joe williams
I am experiencing this as well on a fresh install of 24.04 to a blank
NVMe using the ZFS with encryption option. I see similar error messages
under the password dialog when unlocking the disk. As far as I can tell
things seem to work fine.

[Bug 1938096] Re: [Lenovo X1 Carbon 9th] [SYNA8009:00 06CB:CE57] touchpad lagging after resume from suspend

2021-09-03 Thread joe williams
I am experiencing the same problem. The trackpad seems laggy after
suspend. Also, it seems to commonly get "stuck" in two finger scrolling,
where after lifting one of the two fingers it stays in scrolling mode.
The only way to get it out is to tap on the trackpad randomly to, I
assume, get it to detect different finger actions.

[Bug 829566] Re: igb kernel module reporting fix

2011-08-22 Thread joe williams
@Andy

The basic issue is that we have software that monitors our servers using
these stats and due to how they are tracked in the igb driver in 10.04
we miss our network statistics every other second. Obviously this is
suboptimal, especially considering it seems that most other drivers
don't have this flaw. My thought is that this patch would get igb
statistic tracking on par with the other drivers, making things more
consistent.

[Bug 829566] [NEW] igb kernel module reporting fix

2011-08-19 Thread joe williams
Public bug reported:

On the latest Ubuntu 10.04 LTS kernel version I am experiencing the
issue stated in this commit in Linus' tree,

http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=12dcd86b75d571772512676ab301279952efc0b0

"Stats updated every two seconds, as reported by Jesper. (Jesper
provided a patch for this)"

Would it be possible to merge this patch into 10.04 LTS? I believe it is
already in 2.6.37.

** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)

[Bug 614853] Re: kernel panic divide error: 0000 [#1] SMP

2011-01-17 Thread joe williams
Has this been merged into 10.04? If not, the "paper over" patch should
really get included in my opinion and then be replaced when the correct
fix is available. Myself and others have been running the custom kernel
that includes the fix for a while now with success. I guess I am a bit
more pragmatic than the LKML guys in that I have to make sure my
machines stay up or my bills don't get paid.

seemed to produce was the above dependency list. I have attached uname

I have confirmed this happens with the deadline IO scheduler. Today an
EC2 node of ours running deadline on all the disks got the same "divide
error: [#1] SMP" panic.

[Bug 614853] Re: kernel panic divide error: 0000 [#1] SMP

2010-08-16 Thread joe williams
In an attempt to figure out the issue I decided to change the IO
scheduler thinking it might help considering the contents of the trace.
I set one group of nodes to noop and another to deadline. I have seen
panics on both groups of machines since doing so. From the (partial)
traces I've gotten from those machines the noop trace looks quite a bit
different while the deadline trace looks pretty similar with lots of
bits regarding xfs.

Screenshots:
http://img.skitch.com/20100816-buaaqf6ggdfp6m8y41x4wfyhfy.jpg
http://img.skitch.com/20100816-dnwh8sijt8jnck5k18ewrdcdeu.jpg

Unfortunately the console in the remote management card cuts the top of
the trace off.

[Bug 614853] Re: kernel panic divide error: 0000 [#1] SMP

2010-08-12 Thread joe williams
I have been unable to collect a core using linux-crashdump on my
physical machines, it doesn't seem dump it and reboot automatically.
However it does seem to load the crash kernel (kdump init script).

I did collect another stack trace from one of my EC2 machines:

[Bug 614853] [NEW] kernel panic divide error: 0000 [#1] SMP

2010-08-07 Thread joe williams
Public bug reported:

I have seen this both on EC2 and physical hardware. I installed linux-
crashdump on these machines to see if I can get more information but I
will have to wait for another crash.

2009-09-15 Thread joe williams
Thanks for the reply, kinda surprised I got one. :) Unfortunately I
don't currently have an extra machine to try out karmic out. I do recall
being able to reproduce it and did a few times but don't recall how I
did. I do not currently have this issue, I *think* the fix was to use
the beta 64bit version of flash. I know this isn't much help but thanks
for looking into it.

[Bug 93360] Re: Dhcdbd doesn't recognize permanent (-1) DHCP leases

I am seeing this same issue in the hardy beta:

Mar 29 17:33:11 ubuntu dhcdbd: message_handler: message handler not found under
/com/redhat/dhcp/ath0 for sub-path ath0.dbus.get.reason
Mar 29 17:33:34 ubuntu kernel: [ 449.275313] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): ath0:

My wireless link never seems to activate, the applet just spins
consistently.

I am still seeing this issue in gutsy tribe 5. The only work around I
have found is to switch tty's (crtl + atl f1 etc) and then come back to
the one i was using. This seems to fix the garbled screen.

Since installing Tribe 5 I have been getting the following message after
having long SSH sessions open.

Read from remote host HOSTNAME: Connection reset by peer
Connection to HOSTNAME closed.

I have made sure my SeverAliveInterval is set low to avoid timeouts.
This never happened using Feisty.

I have checked the client and server logs as well and do not see
anything obvious.

Let me know if you have any questions.
