[Bug 1241324] [NEW] openmotif application's window shrinks in Ubuntu 13.10

2013-10-17 Thread john ferrier
Public bug reported:

Nedit is a text editor based on Motif.

After I ugraded my OS from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10, I noticed some wierd
things related with Nedit's dialog window. For example, if I press
ctrl+F (shortcut for Finding string in file.) for the first time, the
dialog appears normal. However, as I use the finding function more and
more, the dialog window would become smaller and smaller.

So for me it seems something wrong with the new Unity in Ubuntu 13.10,
becuase I don't have such a problem in Ubuntu 13.04.

You can find Nedit in Ubuntu's Software Center.

[Bug 1238114] [NEW] Compiz causes Motif dialog window shrunk

2013-10-10 Thread john ferrier
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 13.10 64bit version.

Nedit is a text editor based on Motif and I have used it for many year
on various systems (Redhat *, OpenSuSe *, Ubuntu 9.10 ~13.04) and never
have any major problem.

However, after I ugraded my OS from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10, I noticed
some wierd things related with the dialog window. For example, if I
press ctrl+F (shortcut for Finding string in file.), the dialog
appears normal. However, as I use the finding function more and more,
the dialog window appears in a smaller and smaller size.

So for me it seems something wrong with the compiz in Ubuntu 13.10,
becuase I don't have the same problem in Ubuntu 13.04.

You can find Nedit in Ubuntu's Software Center.

If you need any information, please let me know.

Thank you.

The problem is caused by unity global menu. if I start eclipse env
UBUNTU_MENUPROXY= eclipse then there is no problem.

[Bug 1218687] Re: Top-Panel Menus Won't Drop Down for Dbeaver

2013-09-06 Thread john ferrier
I got similar problem yesterday after I upgarde from Ubuntu 13.04 X86_64
to 13.10 X86_64.

I was using Eclipse-CDT (Kepler) for some development and it works well
on Ubuntu 13.04. However, after upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 (beta 1)
yesterday I found I could not have Eclipse menus (located in Unity's
top-panel ) droped down. I also tried to download a new copy of Eclipse
but it was the same.

It seems for me something wrong in 13.10.

My Eclipse was the latest version (Kepler) downloaded from

eclipse 3.8.1-1ubuntu1 which was mention above. It worked on Ubuntu

[Bug 1156118] [NEW] noticeable resizing of unity launcher

2013-03-16 Thread john ferrier
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

1) Adjust the launcher size from default 48 to 32;

2) Logout;

3) Login again. Then you'll notice the launcher firstly appears at its
default size then resize to the customed size.

This is very noticeable. I didn't see this on Ubuntu 12.04 AMD_64.
