[Bug 1559308] Re: Plugging HDMI screen in causes system hang

2017-09-15 Thread johnnynobody
I have this problem running 16.04.3 with the kernel package and drivers
from https://github.com/M-Bab/linux-kernel-amdgpu-binaries. Those
binaries are the only solution that I've found to fixing the problem of
the display going to a blank screen and won't "wake up". But when I try
to use the HDMI port the screen goes blank and won't wake up and nothing
gets displayed on the TV - I'm still able to ssh in from another PC and
reboot the PC that's "frozen" but I don't get a login screen if I leave
the HDMI cable plugged in. I have tried the oibaf and padoka
repositories, also, but that hasn't solved the problem either.

[Bug 1577074] Re: [HP Pavilion 15] Intermittent black screens

2017-07-06 Thread johnnynobody
I have the same problem with my brand new Pavilion 17 (product: HP
Pavilion Notebook (N9E13UA#ABA)) with the AMD A10-8700P Radeon R6, 10
Compute Cores 4C+6G, and graphics VGA compatible controller: Advanced
Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Carrizo (rev c5). I tried the graphics
PPA's but "no joy". Ubuntu 16.04.2 (64 bit), kernel
4.11.9-041109-generic. Seems to be a buggy driver since I can eventually
get a desktop after multiple reboots but after 30+ minutes the screen
goes dark and won't come back which, of course, means more reboots.

[Bug 1651801] Re: ethernet does not autostart when associated with openvpn

2017-02-04 Thread johnnynobody
/etc/openvpn/

I had my certs and keys in my encrypted /home. For some reason, the
system can't see the certs and keys at boot time. Moving all those files
to /etc/openvpn solved my problem.

[Bug 1651801] [NEW] ethernet does not autostart when associated with openvpn

2016-12-21 Thread johnnynobody
Public bug reported:

I'm having this problem with an ethernet connection configured with
openvpn on Ubuntu 16.04.01 LTS. When booting or rebooting, the network
won't come up at all. But, if I select "Disconnect VPN" with network-
manager the network comes up automatically. After the network comes up,
I can enable the VPN and the client connects to the server. No error
messages in syslog regarding the ethernet interface or openvpn. Also,
the network interface will autoconnect if I unassociate openvpn with the
ethernet interface.

[Bug 1069451] Re: Launcher and global menu bar get invisible after a program is minimized from full screen mode

2012-10-27 Thread johnnynobody
So far, this only happens on my Dell Inspiron 14R running Ubuntu 12.10.
When I launch Firefox, the side application launcher disappears
(autohide isn't used). Even after minimizing Firefox, the side
application launcher is still missing but there is a thin bar across the
top of the workspace and when I click on it the bar goes away and the
side application launcher becomes visible again.

[Bug 212453] Re: Rhythmbox library removes itself

2012-10-27 Thread johnnynobody
I've had this problem on 2 laptops so far. Dell Inspiron 14R and Dell
XPS15. The alsamixergui seems to have fixed the Inspiron but I've had no
luck with the XPS.

I should mention that the audio works fine with headphones.
