[Bug 1341944] Re: 32-Bit UEFI bootloader support needed
Hello, Just bought an Acer Switch 10, same issue... No way to boot anything. Anyone successful so far? Tried to disable everything related to booting in the BIOS, downgraded BIOS, used rufus + jessie ISO... Bought an OTG adaptor to have usb stick directly on the tablet micro usb port... NOTHING WORKED. The whole purpose of buying this machine was to actually get Kali 2.0 on it... OUCH. Should I be patient and wait for distros to get compatible one day, or just return the device? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1341944 Title: 32-Bit UEFI bootloader support needed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1341944/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 298597] [NEW] 2 NICS with static IPs = NO DNS
Public bug reported: On intrepid Ubuntu 8.10 final official version, no backport nor proposed updates sources activated, with either NIC configured alone with a static IP, everything is OK. If both NIC with, of course, different IP, are configured and operating together, NO ACCESS to internet, but all LAN traffic works just fine. At first the problem occurred after an upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10, then I wiped everything besides the /home partition and reinstall very cleanly a brand new system, the first thing was to install all updates on Intrepid, with only eth0 setup in DHCP. Then after all updates were installed I setup eth0 and eth1 statically, SAME ISSUE, NO DNS ... I uninstalled network manager and edited interfaces and resolv.conf, no more luck. This is clearly a bug on Intrepid. This is the interfaces file (works fine with eth0 commented) if I uncomment eth1 = no DNS or access to internet: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.22 hwaddress ether 00:0f:b5:f9:30:bc netmask 255.255.255.0 network 192.168.0.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 gateway 192.168.0.1 dns-nameservers 68.105.28.12 68.105.29.12 68.105.28.11 #auto eth1 #iface eth1 inet static # address 192.168.0.21 # netmask 255.255.255.0 # network 192.168.0.0 # broadcast 192.168.0.255 # gateway 192.168.0.1 # dns-nameservers 68.105.28.12 68.105.29.12 68.105.28.11 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 2 NICS with static IPs = NO DNS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298597 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 292824] Re: No static IP on Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10
I'm now sure this bug comes for the new network-manager that comes with Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 But I can't find a way to fix it. ** Description changed: - After upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid, /etc/network/interfaces was ignored, no matter what I tried, this files was ignored by Intrepid. I ended with a dynamic IP address. I thought it was related to the upgrade, so I reinstall everything and kept my /home. Same problem, no static IP possible but this time /etc/network/interfaces was empty, only the loopback was present, but I still had connection / internet through dhcp. This particular machine and 2 others MUST be in static IP (I only use dhcp on my 2 laptops). So I edited /etc/network/interfaces like this: + After upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid, /etc/network/interfaces was ignored, no matter what I tried, this file was ignored by Intrepid. If I go back to DHCP my IP address will be *.51 or *.52 I set only 2 IPs for dhcp and they are for my laptops, and no I do not want to change all my router's settings, because then I will have to change a lot more things on all my stations (and even more than that). [Bug 256054] Re: [intrepid] new 0.7 branch ignores /etc/network/interfaces
No I use a desktop edition as a server, because I need it as a station too. It worked like this for years, that an old dual athlon MP server. So no, I do not use server edition, I have the GUI, it is just on 24/7 on a ups... Here is my problem: I installed cleanly a brand new intrepid by keeping my /home from hardy. First boot I noticed that it was dhcp, so I started to change ip settings (using system - preferences - network config.) but after every boot it went back to dhcp. Then I foud out that /etc/network/interfaces was empty (only loopback setup) so I edit it... after restarting the service, no internet ! after reboot no internet ! I try to remove NetworkManager from rc.d, no luck, so I restore defaults in rc.d, I commented all I added in interfaces, and I'm back to dhcp. So no progress at all. I thank you for your help but that was a very very bad idea, let me explain... After sudo aptitude remove network-manager*, I uncommented all about eth0 and eth1 in my very good interfaces file then rebooted... NO internet, no dns, but eth0 and eth1 worked and had correct static IPs, so no change... EDIT= If you have wrong IP setting, it seems like you need to enter them manually in system - preferences - network connection... then in the nm-applet on the top bar right click on it and uncheck enable connection then recheck it: IT WORKS as long as you do not restart your machine.
