This issue does not occur when launching Nautilus from the terminal, where it opens and functions normally. The problem seems to occur randomly, as there are times when clicking the icon does successfully open Nautilus. Additional Context: My installation of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is fresh, installed just a week ago. I have the "Dash to Panel" extension installed, though I'm not sure if it's related to the bug since the problem occurs even when using the application menu. I also installed the "Folder Color" script, but I don't believe it is related because Nautilus works fine when launched via the terminal. [Bug 1896137] Re: syslog flooded with "Lockdown: systemd-logind: hibernation is restricted; see man kernel_lockdown.7"
I am using an old laptop as server. The internal screen has been removed. When no external display is connected, the system quickly goes to sleep mode. To avoid this I had masked sleep.target and suspend.target, which resulted in the described repeated "systemd- logind: hibernation is restricted; see man kernel_lockdown.7" and 80% load by systemd-logind. I could avoid suspend without triggering this issue by modifying /etc/systemd/logind.conf: HandleSuspendKey=ignore HandleHibernateKey=ignore HandleLidSwitch=ignore HandleHibernateKey=ignore -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1896137 Title: syslog flooded with "Lockdown: systemd-logind: hibernation is restricted; see man kernel_lockdown.7" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1896137/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1916603] [NEW] Desktop icons mess up after plugging in and unplugging an extra monitor

For the record, for Mint-20 or Ubuntu Focal using stock `rsyslog` this prevented the log spam but isn't a real fix: ``` sudo vi /etc/rsyslog.d/10-nrpe-log-spam.conf sudo systemctl restart rsyslog ``` File contents to "fix" NODE spam: ``` # /etc/rsyslog.d/10-nrpe-log-spam.conf # 2020-07-26 Sun: Suppress useless NRPE log spam # See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios-nrpe/+bug/1888184 :msg, contains, "Request packet version was invalid" stop :msg, contains, "Could not read request from client 192.168.1.11, bailing out" stop :msg, contains, "INFO: SSL Socket Shutdown" stop ``` File contents to "fix" Server spam: ``` # /etc/rsyslog.d/10-nrpe-log-spam.conf # 2020-07-26 Sun: Suppress useless NRPE log spam # See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios-nrpe/+bug/1888184 :msg, contains, "does not support Version 3 Packets" stop ``` -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1888184 Title: nagios-nrpe-server-4 is creating incorrect log spam To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nagios-nrpe/+bug/1888184/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1888184] [NEW] nagios-nrpe-server-4 is creating incorrect log spam
Public bug reported: Server: Debian 10 (buster), nagios-nrpe-plugin-3.2.1-2 Node: Linux Mint 20 (Ulyana), using Ubuntu Focal, nagios-nrpe-server-4.0.0-2ubuntu1 Icinga1 server on Debian monitoring a bunch of LinuxMint-19.3, using protocol v3, and working just fine since last year. I just built 2x new install Mint-20.0 nodes and on *both* of them, for every single `check_nrpe` from the server to the node, the node spams its logs with: * Jul 19 22:02:56 node nrpe[13152]: Error: (use_ssl == true): Request packet version was invalid! * Jul 19 22:02:56 node nrpe[13152]: Could not read request from client 192.168.1.11, bailing out... * Jul 19 22:02:56 node nrpe[13152]: INFO: SSL Socket Shutdown. And the server spams its logs with: * Jul 19 22:02:05 server check_nrpe: Remote 192.168.1.120 does not support Version 3 Packets Yet despite all of that noise, the checks actually work just fine. Expected: the checks using nrpe-v3 should Just Work with no incorrect log spam What happens: the nrpe-v3 checks work but spam the logs on both sides Nice-to-have: any clues on how to cut down the log spam until the fix is released. Using `/etc/nagios/nrpe.d/node.cfg` to set `debug=1` or `debug=0` works to turn debugs logs on and off, but that has no effect on the rest of the spam. Server side sanity checks: ``` $ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H node-mint20.0 -n CHECK_NRPE: Receive header underflow - only -1 bytes received (4 expected). $ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H node-mint20.0 -2 # (NO LOG SPAM) NRPE v4.0.0 $ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H node-mint20.0# (v3 STILL WORKS, but with log spam) NRPE v4.0.0 $ /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H node-mint19.3 NRPE v3.2.1 ``` SERVER side test run, with deliberate errors to bracket the logs: ``` [root@drake:T1:L1:C4975:J0:2020-07-20_01:02:04_EDT] /root# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H node -c check_load_start NRPE: Command 'check_load_start' not defined [root@drake:T1:L1:C4976:J0:2020-07-20_01:02:07_EDT] /root# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H node -c check_load OK - load average: 0.33, 0.14, 0.05|load1=0.330;3.000;5.000;0; load5=0.140;2.000;4.000;0; load15=0.050;2.000;4.000;0; [root@drake:T1:L1:C4976:J0:2020-07-20_01:02:12_EDT] /root# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H node -c check_end NRPE: Command 'check_end' not defined ``` NODE side debug log, notes the errors, note the LOG SPAM, note the check still runs: ``` Jul 20 01:01:52 node systemd[1]: nagios-nrpe-server.service: Succeeded. [Bug 1872501] [NEW] Modifications ALT R mapping at xmodmap not taking effect
Public bug reported: How to map ALT Gr key as ALT R on Ubuntu 20.04? As described in an Ask Ubuntu post, I've executed xev at Ubuntu 20.04 in order to discover ALT L and ALT R keycodes: - ALT L: keycode 64 (keysym 0xffe9, Alt_L) - ALT R: keycode 108 (keysym 0xfe03, ISO_Level3_Shift) Running xmodmap -pke > ~/.Xmodmap, the following configuration was saved: keycode 64 = Alt_L Meta_L Alt_L Meta_L Alt_L Meta_L keycode 108 = ISO_Level3_Shift NoSymbol ISO_Level3_Shift NoSymbol ISO_Level3_Shift Theoretically re-mapping 108 at ~/.Xmodmap should be enough: keycode 108 = Alt_R Meta_R Alt_R Meta_R Alt_R Meta_R However, even running xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap and also saving this command at ~/.xinitrc, the modifications did not take effect immediately or after login again at Ubuntu. Thus it is not possible to execute extensible commands in Emacs using ALT R + X at Emacs So what is the proper way of changing ALT R behavior? Or is it a bug at 20.04 release? [Bug 1757202] Re: xubuntu / bionic / nvidia-driver-390 can only be used by one user at a time
I just had this problem on a Mint-19.3 XFCE upgraded from 18.3. For me, the fix was: * `sudo nvidia-xconfig` * `sudo vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf` The 'Section "Files"..EndSection' block already existed but was empty. I added this: Section "Files" ModulePath "/usr/lib/nvidia-340/xorg" ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules" EndSection * Then `sudo systemctl restart lightdm.service` which logged me out of my sessions! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1757202 Title: xubuntu / bionic / nvidia-driver-390 can only be used by one user at a time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-390/+bug/1757202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1813604] Re: Lineout and headphones audio keep switching automatically -- broken audio
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I have been a long-term Ubuntu user (since 10.04) and take pride in having fixed all problems on my own thanks to the excellent documentation, but this time I am utterly stumped and have run out of ideas (hence this report). With my headphones jacked in, the line out and headphones output options keep switching automatically, resulting in crackling (and broken audio). I have tried many solutions I found online but none of the suggested fixes work. I am attaching a video of what I see (note that this happens automatically, I don't click anywhere) This is not a hardware issue (the headphones work fine on another machine running Ubuntu 16.04, and as far as I'm aware this problem only appeared after I upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04). $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Release: 18.04 I have uploaded two different videos showing what I see here: https://youtu.be/S49cEC5DRsk https://youtu.be/zSfi5ko5nBY + --- + ProblemType: Bug + ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.5 + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: jp 5422 F pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC1: jp 5422 F pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC2: jp 5422 F pulseaudio + CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=84a04536-72b0-461c-99b3-6dd8190bd471 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-05-12 (992 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160420.1) + IwConfig: + docker0 no wireless extensions. + + lono wireless extensions. + + enp4s0no wireless extensions. + MachineType: System manufacturer System Product Name + NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcEnviron: + TERM=xterm-256color + PATH=(custom, no user) + XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.15.0-44-generic root=UUID=38883a30-ab46-453d-af78-cd67fe68236b ro quiet splash acpi=force + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-44.47-generic 4.15.18 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-4.15.0-44-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-4.15.0-44-generic N/A + linux-firmware 1.173.3 + RfKill: + + Tags: bionic + Uname: Linux 4.15.0-44-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to bionic on 2018-08-23 (159 days ago) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip docker lpadmin lxd plugdev sambashare sudo + _MarkForUpload: True + dmi.bios.date: 01/26/2016 + dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. + dmi.bios.version: 0601 + dmi.board.asset.tag: Default string + dmi.board.name: Z170-P D3 + dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. + dmi.board.version: Rev X.0x + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Default string + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Default string + dmi.chassis.version: Default string + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr0601:bd01/26/2016:svnSystemmanufacturer:pnSystemProductName:pvrSystemVersion:rvnASUSTeKCOMPUTERINC.:rnZ170-PD3:rvrRevX.0x:cvnDefaultstring:ct3:cvrDefaultstring: + dmi.product.family: To be filled by O.E.M. + dmi.product.name: System Product Name + dmi.product.version: System Version + dmi.sys.vendor: System manufacturer ** Attachment added: "AlsaInfo.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813604/+attachment/5234067/+files/AlsaInfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813604 Title: Lineout and headphones audio keep switching automatically -- broken audio To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1813604/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1756597] [NEW] Rhythmbox plugin "Song Lyrics" not working
Public bug reported: With either rhythmbox-plugins-3.0.2-0ubuntu2 (Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon) or rhythmbox-plugins-3.3-1ubuntu7 (Linux Mint 18.2 XFCE) when the "Song Lyrics" plugin is enabled and the following are checked, lyrics are never displayed: * WinampCN (www.winampcn.com) * Dark Lyrics (darklyrics.com) * Jetlyrics (jetlyrics.com) * I didn't use the other two since I speak only English Looking at the code in '/usr/lib/rhythmbox/plugins/lyrics/' and experimenting with the queries suggests that the remote web sites have changed. For example, 'JetlyricsParser.py' has: * q = title + ' - ' + artist * url = 'http://www.jetlyrics.com/search.php?q=%s' % (q) But http://www.jetlyrics.com/search.php?q=acdc-hells+bells is 404, while doing it manually from http://www.jetlyrics.com/ yields http://lyrics.jetmute.com/search.php?q=acdc+hells+bells&search=Search with some results. Likewise DarkLyricsParser.py has: * url = 'http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/%s/%s.html' % (best_match.artist, best_match.album) But http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/acdc/hells+bells.html returns a 404/search page and the search "acdc hells bells" from that page is null but manually working through the form you can get https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/acdc/hellsbells.html. In those examples both the base web site and search strings have changed, rendering the plugin code out of date. Also, CTRL-L no longer works in either Mint 17's RB 3.0.2 or Mint 18's 3.0.0, but "View > Song Lyrics" works. ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1756597 Title: Rhythmbox plugin "Song Lyrics" not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1756597/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1756198] [NEW] Intermittent HDMI sound, working with some videos/audios, failing with others
Public bug reported: I'm using Lubuntu 17.10 on an ACER REVO RL80 connected to my TV through HDMI. The sound output is configured via sound settings (pavucontrol) to HDMI ouput. The sound is OK with some apps, and KO with some others. For example in VLC, it works usually fine. But on chromium/youtube, the sound is HS. Actually, i think it's not really a per app problem, but it might depend more on the type of audio being played. I thought the audio was working fine on firefox youtube at first, but once I ran into a specific video with the audio HS (and I checked this video had sound). When the audio is HS on a video play, if I start a video that usually doesn't have the problem, this video has the audio HS too. And reversely, if the audio is OK on a video, and if I start a video that usually have the problem, this time the video has its audio OK. Knowing this, I made a small sript to "fix" the audio of a video witht he problem. I pause the video with the audio problem, I start a sound hat usually doesn't have the problem, and I change the audio output back and forth to HDMI output again. It usually fixes audio, and I jsute need to resume the video with the problem BEFORE the good audio is over, and it's OK. This is my script mpv /path/to/whitenoise_48k.wav & pacmd set-card-profile 0 output:analog-stereo pacmd set-card-profile 0 output:hdmi-stereo And it's interesting to note that the same sound in 44k doesn't work (whitenoise_44k.wav). Weird stuff... These are the outputs of some commands, can make more if you want. aplay --list-devices List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC662 rev3 Analog [ALC662 rev3 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 1: ALC662 rev3 Digital [ALC662 rev3 Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 lspci -v 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04) Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 30 Memory at f7e3 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel pacmd list-cards 1 card(s) available. index: 0 name: driver: owner module: 22 properties: alsa.card = "0" alsa.card_name = "HDA Intel PCH" alsa.long_card_name = "HDA Intel PCH at 0xf7e3 irq 30" alsa.driver_name = "snd_hda_intel" device.bus_path = "pci-:00:1b.0" sysfs.path = "/devices/pci:00/:00:1b.0/sound/card0" device.bus = "pci" device.vendor.id = "8086" device.vendor.name = "Intel Corporation" device.product.id = "1e20" device.product.name = "7 Series/C216 Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller" device.form_factor = "internal" device.string = "0" device.description = "Built-in Audio" module-udev-detect.discovered = "1" device.icon_name = "audio-card-pci" profiles: input:analog-stereo: Analog Stereo Input (priority 60, available: no) output:analog-stereo: Analog Stereo Output (priority 6000, available: no) output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo: Analog Stereo Duplex (priority 6060, available: no) output:iec958-stereo: Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output (priority 5500, available: unknown) output:iec958-stereo+input:analog-stereo: Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output + Analog Stereo Input (priority 5560, available: unknown) output:hdmi-stereo: Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output (priority 5400, available: unknown) output:hdmi-stereo+input:analog-stereo: Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output + Analog Stereo Input (priority 5460, available: unknown) off: Off (priority 0, available: unknown) active profile: sinks: alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.hdmi-stereo/#5: Built-in Audio Digital Stereo (HDMI) sources: alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.hdmi-stereo.monitor/#5: Monitor of Built-in Audio Digital Stereo (HDMI) ports: analog-input-mic: Microphone (priority 8700, latency offset 0 usec, available: no) properties: device.icon_name = "audio-input-microphone" analog-output-headphones: Headphones (priority 9000, latency offset 0 usec, available: no) properties: device.icon_name = "audio-headp
[Bug 1718482] Re: byobu launch unknown icon on Ubuntu Dock
I had byobu pinned to the launcher in Zesty. Directly after having upgraded to Artful, byoby had been removed from the launcher (similar to bug #1628975). When launched, byobu would show the "unknown icon" and could not be pinned to the launcher ("Add to Favorites" was greyed). Now, byobu use the terminal icon and can be pinned to the launcher. However, it will then start as a normal terminal, without byobu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1718482 Title: byobu launch unknown icon on Ubuntu Dock To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/byobu/+bug/1718482/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1619969] Re: xubuntu crash trying to do new install
Hard power off and a second install keeping only to the defaults worked. What I was trying to do the first time was add more swap that was there by default. I guess if I really want to do that now I can fiddle with it in LVM. So I probably goofed something up when manually partitioning, but the error message was totally worthless: install crashed or something similar... I didn't notice any indication of where to do looking for logs, and though perhaps I could have found some logs it was easier to just start over. Also note, if it matters, that the machine is a circa 2009 Dell mini9 (Atom), hence the need for 32-bit. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1619969 Title: xubuntu crash trying to do new install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1619969/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1311158] Re: WebUI do not work after fresh install
Thanks Jonathan for the work around. I tried the MAAS install option with a network connected machine, I got the error. I tried a server base install, then adding MAAS components (apt-get) with a network connected machine, I got the error. But installing from ISO with network card configured and cable unplugged delivered a working solution. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311158 Title: WebUI do not work after fresh install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/1311158/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
