[Bug 1022124] Re: wget 1.13.4 crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc_consolidate()
Giuseppe, I'm sorry, but this is a pretty odd corner case I've had trouble reproducing outside a proprietary site I can't give anybody else access to. I would like to help, though - if you can give me a binary for the new version which will run on Ubuntu Precise, I can re-break the dev copy of the site in the same way (wget only segfaulted on the broken version of the site, which used typographic quotes in a script src instead of standard quotes) and test your new version against it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1022124 Title: wget 1.13.4 crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc_consolidate() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/wget/+bug/1022124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I had trouble reproducing it in a clean environment too, Jason - I made a plain HTML file that had the include line in it and fetched that recursively, but like you, just got a 404. I can't give you a copy of the bad stuff, because it's a production website - database-and-PHP, on Apache, very few actual files involved. I could get you a gdb trace, if you'll give me an example command line to follow, though. All I have to do is put the pretty quotes back in, and I'll get segfaulting wget once more - and I don't mind doing that on a dev environment. ** Description changed: wget on Precise (wget v1.13.4) crashes with segfault when mirroring sites. [Bug 1022124] Re: wget 1.13.4 crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc_consolidate()
That's correct Jason - when I fix the include in header.php to use normal quotes instead of typographic quotes, I can then mirror the entire site without segfaulting. Put the typographic quotes back in, and poof - segfault, at the same spot every time. Interestingly, *every single page* has the bad include in it - so wget has already mirrored several of the 404's generated by the bad include by the time it segfaults. I don't know why. Some kind of corner case, pretty apparently. (But, again, wget 1.12 does not segfault at all. So it's a regression, not just a weird corner case nobody has ever ever seen before.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1022124 Title: wget 1.13.4 crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc_consolidate() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wget/+bug/1022124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1022124] Re: segfault in wget 1.13.4
Ah HA! I don't know about the bug in wget, but I found the oddness in the site being crawled which was *causing* wget to trip *its* bug: script src=”http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5/jquery.min.js”/script Took forever to spot this: somebody put pretty quotes in a CSS file in a WordPress theme - browsers, wget included, don't recognize the pretty quotes as quotes for coding purposes, so you end up trying to fetch a really, really broken URL: http://www.[redacted]/%E2%80%9Dhttp:/ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5/jquery.min.js%E2%80%9D Most browsers just try to get that URL, fail at it, and move on with life: but the new version of wget in 12.04 actually *segfaults* when it encounters that, which of course it only will if recursion is turned on. If it helps: you really do ONLY get this in recursion; an attempt to fetch the botched URL manually - either using the HTML escape codes, or using the prettyquotes directly at the shell - results in the expected 404, not a segfault. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1022124 Title: segfault in wget 1.13.4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wget/+bug/1022124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 998589] [NEW] remmina 1 button broken in Precise
Public bug reported: Broken on my recently-upgraded-from-Oneiric workstation: Suddenly, clicking the resize window to remote display button (the 1 button) in a Remmina connection results in a really bizarre, stretched- taller-vertically-than-my-monitor window with nothing but featureless grey in the middle of it. It's basically screwed from that point on out (right-clicking the window handle on the taskbar and maximizing will at least bring the display visible, but all the controls - including tabs to select different sessions - will still be missing) until I close remmina and delete the preferences file from ~/.remmina/. After deleting the prefs file and restarting Remmina, things will be back to normal - but if I click the 1 button, they'll screw right back up again. [Bug 956374] Re: KVM: Windows Server 2008 VM bluescreens on install
Hm. I take it back about the problem not existing in Oneiric - I wiped the machine and reloaded clean with Oneiric Server, and am encountering the same bluescreen during installation at the same place. This may be related to the hardware platform - I *JUST* did several of these installs onto Intel i7 and AMD Opteron machines this week, but this particular host is an Athlon X3-based machine. Maybe there's a bug related to the hardware? I don't think it's actual *faulty* hardware; the problem is too consistent and only occurs during guest installation - also, I've switched from a ripped ISO image (which worked fine for previous installs) to reading /dev/sr0 directly (from a different disc, yet) and got the exact same bluescreen. Retrying yet again with a non-SP1 Windows Server 2008 disc at /dev/sr0 now to see if the results are any different. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to kvm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/956374 Title: KVM: Windows Server 2008 VM bluescreens on install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kvm/+bug/956374/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 956374] Re: KVM: Windows Server 2008 VM bluescreens on install
OK, I did some more testing in between last post and logging in again to see your request Serge - changing hardware did not resolve the problem, but removing the VM entirely and recreating it *did*, both on the new hardware and on the old hardware. At this point my best guess is that something was screwy in the Precise installation, since the bug followed me from hardware to hardware but went away when I deleted and re-created the VM definition itself. Note: the definition is 2 CPUs, 4096MB RAM (of 16GB available), Windows, Server 2008, all else left to default, as created by virt-manager. If it helps, I am using LVM2 and have a 40GB LV defined to use as raw storage for the guest. I did not blow away the LV or VG from the Precise install when I reverted to Oneiric; I wiped and formatted the system LV but imported the VG and all other LVs as they were from the Precise install. I don't have the machine in front of me right now, but I'll run apport for you as requested as soon as I'm in front of it again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/956374 Title: KVM: Windows Server 2008 VM bluescreens on install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/+bug/956374/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Fully documented workaround for Ubuntu Karmic is here: http://ubuntuwiki.net/index.php/Xrdp,_installing Instructions at that page are full and complete for using xrdp to connect to currently logged in local user's session (with Vino) and to an arbitrary vnc-only session (with tightvncserver). Vino does not have the keyboard hashing problem at all; tightvncserver does but the disable active keyboard workaround DOES work - the important part is that you MUST run gconf-editor as the user who owns the vnc session, as it's a per-user preference, not a global one! -- keyboard unusable after logging in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/320393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 200127] Re: ubuntu incorrectly believes I enjoy staring at progress bars
Personally, I like the way update-manager works... if you don't want to watch the progress, the dialog can easily be placed in the background, so no problem. Perhaps making a configurable option somewhere to default minimize update-manager, for users who are particularly offended by the sight of technical things happening? -- ubuntu incorrectly believes I enjoy staring at progress bars https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200127 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
