[Bug 1861278] Re: RTL8821CE - 5GHZ networks not working

2021-07-10 Thread justcomplaining
I have news: I can connect to my 5 GHZ network now. I am not sure why though.
(1) I changed the 5GHZ channel
(2) I changed the frequency band from 80mhz to 40mhz
(3) Maybe the last driver update from March did something?

Here are my current outputs (I don't think there's much change though):

dmesg | grep 8821

I followed the instructions but have no idea whether it worked or not (I
can't take the battery out so I had to take the 15-seconds-power-button
route).

I have now also detected networks on channel 140 (5.7 Ghz) and channel
64 (5.32 GHz) at a different location.

I tried changing the channel in the router configuration to 36, 44 and

[Bug 1861278] Re: RTL8821CE - 5GHZ networks not working

2020-07-08 Thread justcomplaining
I checked some WiFi info via the Android phone. Of the 5 5G networks
shown there, only two show up on the laptop.

The ones that do show up are on channels 48-42 (5240 MHz) and 36-42
(5180 MHz).

The ones that do not show up are on channels 100-106 (5500 MHz), 140-138
(5700 MHz) and 140-138 (5700 MHz).

Three additional networks show up on the laptop, one at channel 44 (5220
MHz), one at Channel 48 (5240 MHz) and one unnamed network without
channel information at 5785 MHz.

[Bug 1861278] Re: RTL8821CE - 5GHZ networks not working

2020-07-04 Thread justcomplaining
Thank you!

A few of the neighbour's 5GHz networks are shown, but my own is still
missing. So it's probably not about 5 GHz networks in general anymore...

Any ideas on what could be the issue? The router broadcasts both a 2,4
Ghz as well as a 5 Ghz network and I can connect to the 2,4 but can not
see the 5 Ghz. On the android phone it shows up and works fine.

Same here. Roughly 130MB. No update possible because of that. There seem
to be unecessary old versions of some files in the directory, but "apt-
get autoremove" doesn't help here.
