[Bug 1306890] [NEW] KDE-Session crashes when configuring positions of multiple monitors
Public bug reported: I'm running Kubuntu 14.04 Beta2 on my Asus Zenbook UX32VD, which has an HDMI and an VGA output. Most often when I try to configure the position of multiple monitors (by using the gui-tool `kcmshell4 kcm_kscreen`) the KDE-Session crashes with this error message: "Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation." It then takes a few reboots (as in more than 2 most of the times) to be able to login into a KDE Session with my user again, because it crashes again instantly when login in after such a crash. (Is there some config file I can edit/remove to work around this problem? I've run into this problem about 5 or 6 times already, and I've never achieved a working setup where the multiple screens where interpreted as having a different y-position (in height, like for example above each other) but I also managed to get the same crash without y-position variations, by simply changing the x-position order (conrcrete from {default}[internal - hdmi - vga] to [vga - internal - hdmi] made KDE crash, while changing to [internal - vga - hdmi] worked. Re: [Bug 577515] Re: Notification area icons overlap each other, in incorrect order
Now that you remember me of that bug report, yes i've seen it again 2 or 3 times after the update Ross talked about. But with me its only visibility issues, I don't have any problems rearanging the icons, however, i don't do that very often. If that bug hits, I only run "killall gnome-panel" to restart the panels and everything is alright again. 2010/6/22 Dave M G : > As of June 22, I am experiencing a bug that seems to essentially be the > same as this. > > My applet icons in the top right of my Gnome panel are offered in a new > random order with each boot. [Bug 577515] Re: Notification area icons overlap each other, in incorrect order
Thanks for the note. I found this other bug-report here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/574978 which states that you can use "killall gnome-panel" to reload the panels which makes them right again. Since I only saw this bug 2 or 3 times yet, this is a sufficient workaround for me. I am currently updating and I will post again if the bug shows again in the future. -- Notification area icons overlap each other, in incorrect order https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577515 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 511001] Re: [i855] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup (needs KMS blacklist?)
I upgraded yesterday from 9.10 to 10.04 and now compiz doesn't work anymore. I never had any problems with Graphics with the past Ubuntu versions. I agree. Do we know when this Bug emerges?
