As an update, it's now been roughly a week with no freezes or crashes for me. I have not changed my usage pattern: same dock, same external display, devices, etc., and same applications used. I did change one thing however. When I was switching again to the linux-image- oem-20.04-edge I decided to reinstall it just to be sure. I spotted a post-install warning I didn't notice previously: update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-5.10.0-1016-oem W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/tgl_huc_7.5.0.bin for module i915 W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/tgl_huc_7.5.0.bin for module i915 I indeed did not have tgl_huc_7.5.0.bin on my machine, despite having linux-firmware installed. It did not seem available in any installable package, so I decided to grab this one file from a newer debian package (it was added upstream a few months back) and reinstalled again with it in place. There was no update-initramfs warning this time, and I haven't had a freeze since. /proc/sys/kernel/oops_all_cpu_backtrace seems unavailable in 5.6 (added in 5.8 per a quick search). It's just me twice on two different kernels ;) I'll try doing that. Might takie a while to get a repro since I'm also trying to (a) see if not having the external monitor / connecting it differently helps (b) do actual work on that machine. "; realtime-scheduling = yes" is commented away in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf (this is a very fresh install of 20.04 and I haven't customized much). Should I enable this? Either way, I'll try to exercise suspend and keep an eye out for this issue happening again. I was having the same problem ("If you use one of --cert or --key, you
must use them both" in syslog). Upgrading to 1.8.0-3 fixed the issue for
me.
As a minor caveat, simply pointing to the private key file in the UI was not
enough and I was getting:

/home/tsniatowski/.cert/nm-openvpn/vpn-key.pem
Possibly something else needed tweaking, I fixed this by re-importing
the .openvpn file I got and then the connection worked.

I'm having the same issue as the original poster -- while fully charged, if I set the display brightess to max, or press the brightness-up button while already at max, the Laptop battery is charged noification pops up below the brightness one. This alone wouldn't be a huge problem, only there's more: - the battery notification lasts longer (still minor) - when I press and hold the brightness button while already at max, the battery notification seems to queue itself to appear as many times as there were registered presses, which is usually *A LOT* and takes *A LOT* of time. It appears, fades and nearly disappears after several seconds and then pops up again and again. This is highly annoying.
