I fixed this issue by migrating my department to Debian.

[Bug 304969] Re: Hardy: Flash can't be installed since install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz can't be retrieved

2009-07-27 Thread karmaflux
This is not an invalid bug. Hardy is still the LTS release. This
distribution shipped with the flashplugin-nonfree package. Please alter
the package to point to the latest release of Flash 9.

8.04 is an LTS release. This package is only two years into a five-year
support cycle. Has the LTS policy been abandoned?

This happened to me, too. I was using lilo.

If this package depends on grub, it should probably be advertised
somewhere.

[Bug 346095] Re: notify-osd doesn't honor my preference

2009-04-25 Thread karmaflux
This notification system completely breaks any NX connection that isn't
on a gigabit connection. It also maxes out a CPU core on my server to
render the translucent fade. Was this tested at all in any kind of
multiuser environment?

[Bug 359905] [NEW] nv drivers present wrong resolutions with Geforce 9800 GTX

2009-04-12 Thread karmaflux
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv

This happens with the nvidia drivers as well. Apparently it either
can't read EDID or it misreads the EDID, so it defaults to 1024x768.
The monitor is a 1280x1024 LCD, but it's behind a Dell KVM.

1280x1024 is not in the list of resolutions with which I am presented in
System - Preferences - Display. I can choose 1152x864 or 1360x768.

Attached are Xorg.0.log and the output of xdpyinfo.

[Bug 179497] Re: [hardy] using deprecated update-modules command

2009-03-13 Thread karmaflux
It doesn't work in Hardy, which is an LTS release. The xen kernel
depends on the restricted-modules package, which depends on nvidia-
kernel-common, which is still displaying this behavior.
