[Bug 1896443] Re: The latest Ubuntu base image for armhf return random values for date/time
Hello John, Thanks for the investigating. My test system is a Raspberry Pi 4 running Raspbian (Buster). But I can reproduce this problem on all my systems with armhf cpu. For example I have an industrial PLC (WAGO PFC200) with ARMv7-CPU and docker support which has exactly the same problem. [Bug 1764596] Re: vanilla-gnome-desktop dependencies too strict
Now that certain utilities are being shipped as snaps by default this might be more important. E.g. default install of 18.04 includes gnome- system-monitor as a snap but if you want the vanilla gnome desktop you end up with the deb version as well. If you're using snaps it makes more sense to use the snap version as it can see the snap processes (doesn't look like the deb one can) so would be nicer to be able to remove the deb version rather than the snap if the duplicated menu entries got annoying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764596 Title: vanilla-gnome-desktop dependencies too strict To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-gnome-meta/+bug/1764596/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm this still happens with gnome-shell 3.24.1-0ubuntu1. It appears that you can stop this from happening by blocking gnome- color-panel in /etc/geoclue/geoclue.conf: [gnome-color-panel] allowed=false system=true users= Just to add some confusion, it appears that GDM sometimes starts using geoclue which then makes then location icon appear in the user's desktop once logged in. [Bug 1661983] [NEW] Ubuntu Software shows irrelevant snaps first in search results
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS gnome-software 3.20.1+git20161013.0.d77d6cf-0ubuntu2~xenial1 When searching in Ubuntu Software for typical terms such as "Word Processor" or "World Clock", various snaps appear at the top of the list that have no relevance to the search. Then scrolling down to the bottom one can see actual relevant results. For example, searching for "World Clock" brings up ubuntu-social-kit as the first result, followed by minetest-luk3yx and dwarf-fortress. Scrolling down a few pages brings up ubuntu-clock-app but it is followed by kgeography. All the snap results seem to be at the top of the list which I would consider a bug in itself. Once I scroll far enough down to get past all the irrelevant / badly categorised snaps, *including "hello-snap-test"*, there are then more normal search results such as "Clocks" and "twclock". This seems to be a pretty major issue because it makes it look as though there is no useful software available. Clearly "hello-snap-test" should not be higher up the list than "Clocks" when searching for a clock program. ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1661983 Title: Ubuntu Software shows irrelevant snaps first in search results To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1661983/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1051625] Re: nautilus crashed with signal 5 in _XEventsQueued()
POTENTIAL FIX: This got too annoying and was also happening with screen resolution changes so I looked into it further and found this: https://github.com/opinsys/puavo- rules/commit/b047b8058d72daea74cfaea2923cfdcad3a2a401 After setting the dconf key org/gnome/desktop/background/draw-background to false, the problem appears to be completely resolved. I no longer get crashes on wallpaper change, or on screen resolution change which were happening consistently before. Setting this key back to True and changing screen resolution produces a crash 100% of the time when I mouse over a desktop icon; with this key set to False, the problem does not happen. I note that this does not actually fix the bug itself; there appears to be a problem to do with this setting, but perhaps it should not be being read in the first place? The key description in dconf-editor says "DEPRECATED: This key is deprecated and ignored." but the default is still true, and it appears that the key is NOT ignored and in fact leads to these crashes unless set to false. Hope this helps somebody fix this properly. In the meantime anybody having this problem might want to try changing the key (install dconf-editor, then use the Find function to search for "draw-background" or navigate manually to the key above and setting it to false (unticked). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1051625 Title: nautilus crashed with signal 5 in _XEventsQueued() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1051625/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1627171] [NEW] Suspending Sony Vaio laptop results in system hang occasionally
Public bug reported: Sony Vaio VPCEA3C5E Normally suspending this laptop works fine, but if I have been using the system a lot (lots of applications open, etc.) there is a high likelihood that it will freeze when suspending. [Bug 1551273] Re: Software Center only provides a subset of software available in repos
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1548933 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1548933 I do not think this is a duplicate of bug #1548933. That bug is in reference to the Software Centre not showing any software except the software already installed. This one is in reference to the Software Centre not showing all software that can be installed, even though it does show *some* software. For example on my system, the new Ubuntu Software does not show FlightGear, but the old Ubuntu Software Centre (which I still have installed) does. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1551273 Title: Software Center only provides a subset of software available in repos To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1551273/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 415888] Re: Installation fails on Crucial/Micron M225 256gb SSD
What happens if you make your partitions yourself using fdisk/gparted before doing the installation? Afaik the alignment of partitions affects performance on SSDs but shouldn't make it not work at all. -- Installation fails on Crucial/Micron M225 256gb SSD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/415888 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 281683] Re: Incorrect partition creation when on an SSD (EXT3 instead of EXT2)
I'm not sure that all SSDs should only be used with ext2. Early/cheaper JMicron-based SSDs have lots of issues with small writes which can cause big slowdowns, and certainly journalling wouldn't help for that. But there are now several drives that dont have anywhere near the same performance problems, and since SSDs are still an emerging technology really, I'd expect things to keep improving. Point is, just because someone has an SSD, doesn't mean they need to use ext2 to cut down on writes. -- Incorrect partition creation when on an SSD (EXT3 instead of EXT2) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/281683 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
