[Bug 1854798] Re: Synaptics s3203 touchpad not working after update to kernel 4.15.0-72-generic
@vivkar, in response to your last question, you should have kernel 4.15.0-70-generic already available to boot from, since an update wouldn't have replaced the old kernel version. Make sure it's not available by going to /boot/ folder on your machine and looking for any files named 4.15.0-70-generic. If it is not available, perhaps you can try manually downloading the kernel version and then following the instructions in https://superuser.com/questions/208502/how-to-add-a-new-kernel-to-grub2. I'm a complete linux newbie, so take my advice with a grain of salt. If the the 73 version of the kernel is working for you right now, I think you should stay on it until an update becomes available. [Bug 1342175] Re: [upstream] Poor performance with find & replace with empty value on large data set
Hi Seyeong Kim Thanks for the message and updates. I tested the above and there does NOT appear to be any change in performance: a. It takes about 2 minutes for the "Search Results" window to appear (using the file provided in comment # 36 above) b. After clicking on the "Close" button, it takes about 1 minute before the focus gets back to the Main Search and Replace window c. It takes another 1 minute to "Close" the Search and Replace window. As an end user, if appropriate, I would like to make a request / suggestion about the Search results window: 1. Can the "Search Results" window be made as optional with a check box where the default set to NOT display results, thus reducing overhead? 2. The cells are already replaced and the only functionality in the Results window is an ability to go to the replaced cell. Already the changed cells are highlighted and the user can see these, thus making some of the functionality redundant. I am not sure if you can take this forward? Thankful for any help that can be given for fixing the problem. Dear Seyeong Kim Thanks for the quick reply and sorry to trouble your busy schedule. I just need to know how to download the exact version that you mentioned as I was unable to locate it. [Bug 1342175] Re: [upstream] Poor performance with find & replace with empty value on large data set
Hi Could someone help in pointing me in the right direction to upgrade our current version to the one that fixes the problem? I have tried this on Linux Mint 18.1 Beta which installs Libreoffice Calc 5.1.4.2, and the problem still exists. The real issue seems to be that the Find/Replace function is trying to populate thousands of records into a small window for display to the user and the system takes a very long time (> 15 min) to display this. In any case, the window is of not much use especially if more than 20-30 records are being replaced, as the user cannot do much with the information once the replacement has taken place. Alternatively, is there a patch that can be applied for only Calc which resolves this issue? My sources.lst.d contains this file and this entry: File:libreoffice-libreoffice-5-1-trusty.list Contents: deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/libreoffice/libreoffice-5-1/ubuntu trusty main I oversee an environment of around 50 PCs that are all running the same version of Linux Mint (17.1) and Libre Office. In order to keep all the systems up to date, we have a local mirror of a part of the Linux Mint / Ubuntu repositories and this includes LibreOffice locally mirrored, using the same ppa mentioned above. We would like to be on at least 5.1.x for all our client systems and would like to remain on this version or move to 5.2.x if that is stable. Could you please tell me where and how to download / install the bug- fixed version (deb version, please) that you mentioned in your comment, so that I can test the same and also deploy it to all the client machines via our local repository? [Bug 1100843] Re: Live Migration Causes Performance Issues
Few updates from a few tests we ran: Setup: hypervisor ==> Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS libvirt ===> 0.9.8-2ubuntu17.7 qemu-kvm ===> 1.0+noroms-0ubuntu14.7 storage: NFS exports Guest VM OS: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS Test 1: Created a new VM and kept it Idle for 60+ hours, then ran Unix benchmark test against it. (NO Live-migration/migration) Result 1: The performance was NOT affected and the result was the same as a fresh VM. Test 2: Created a new VM, and perform a "virsh save " followed by a "virsh restore " on the SAME hypervisor. Then run unix benchmark against it. Result 2: The VM is AFFECTED (cost to perform system calls degraded by ~21% ) Test 3: Rebooted the affected VM from test (2) and re-ran unix-benchmark tests against it. Result 3: Performance is back to normal and is identical to a newly created and non-migrated/not-saved VM. Thus, it seems the problem is also exposed by "saving" the running precise domain (memory pages) to state file followed by a "restore" even on the same hypervisor and not necessarily live-migration to a different host. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1100843 Title: Live Migration Causes Performance Issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-kvm/+bug/1100843/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 653843] Re: system does not hibernate
OK, I have to correct myself. If you do a fresh start into 10.10, then start one instance of evince (might be every other program), then hibernate: everything works as supposed. Hibernation stops working if you start more programs, like firefox+ooo+gimp and some other memory hungry ones. In /var/log/syslog, I found something that may either be connected and helpful or not. I will post the snippet here and the other files as attachment in the next comment (launchpad responds with error 414 (url to long), when i try to attach to this comment). ###SNIPPET starts ... [Bug 653843] Re: system does not hibernate
Same problem here; nothing more than the blinking cursor. Changing to another terminal via ctrl+alt+F1 first brings up the usual login. Then everything freezes, even before being able to enter the first letter. Not sure whether evince is responsible for this. Rather not, since same thing is happening after a fresh start of Gnome, without additional starting of programs. Hibernation has been working perfectly well in 10.04, until I chose to upgrade via "update-manager -d" just recently. Would like to give more help, but I don't know how. -- system does not hibernate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/653843 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
