[Bug 295414] Re: Wireless network keeps disconnecting in Intrepid

2009-01-04 Thread lifestream
Oops, just wanted to add that my connection is unsecured (at home, on
campus its the campus-wide wireless, and the one at the library). You'd
think its the wireless connection being used by too many people, making
the routers drop connections, but at home, only my laptop's MAC address
is allowed to connect to the router, and there's no one on campus
because it's christmas break.

My connection keeps being dropped in all those places, as said, sudo
modprobe iwl3945 "fixes" it for me so that I am able to connect again.

I'll post the logfiles if requested, but it doesnt seem anyone is
working on this bug anymore.

[Bug 295414] Re: Wireless network keeps disconnecting in Intrepid

2009-01-04 Thread lifestream
Okay, so what can we do now?
I got the same problem, but with the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG.

sudo modprobe iwl3945 "fixes" it for me, so I don't have to reboot. But
my grandma I'm sure cannot remmember that everytime wifi goes down.

[Bug 231508] Re: Variable-width fonts make I and l hard to distinguish

2008-11-20 Thread lifestream
Bitstream Vera Sans Mono is included, and it is easy to read:
http://www.dafont.com/font.php?file=bitstream_vera_mono&page=1&nb_ppp_old=10&text=1ife+life+Iife&nb_ppp=10&psize=m&classt=alpha

The Luxi mono just stinks, though. lowercase L and the number 1 both
look the same :P

[Bug 134410] Re: [needs-packaging] wicd

2008-11-17 Thread lifestream
I would like an update on this too.
I always have to use a friend's computer to download wicd deb, install it on my
machine.. and any dependencies.

:/

[Bug 297886] [NEW] Launching XChat on Xubuntu 8.10 LiveCD auto-joins #debian

2008-11-13 Thread lifestream
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xchat

XChat 2.8.6

A multiplatform IRC Client

Linux 2.6.27-7-generic [i686/1.00GHz/SMP]
Charset: UTF-8 Renderer: Pango
Compiled: Jul 10 2008

Linux ubuntu 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Fri Oct 24 06:42:44 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux

I'm using Xubuntu Intrepid liveCD, and upon launching XChat, it joins #debian
and their irc server (not freenode).
... Why? ;P
I can imagine a newbie getting embarassed when he realizes he is in the wrong
channel. Oops.

** Affects: xchat (Ubuntu)

[Bug 285734] Re: [PATCH] In /etc/issue, tell users how to undo accidental Ctrl+Alt+F1 presses

2008-11-02 Thread lifestream
Mmmm I hope this gets implemented.
If my sister hits that key combo, she's going to FREAK out! "OMIgawds, I broke
my computerzz!!"... Then she'll call me, and ask me to reinstall Windows.

Such a little thing like that message can make a BIG difference.
