2009-08-31 Thread lizardmenke
I do agree with you there Pjotr12345.
The 2.5GB may be enough for installing Ubuntu, but as soon as there are updates
(and there almost always are right after installing) a new user will
immediately be confronted with an error! (not enough disk space)
Not something a first time user would want to see I imagine. ;)

[Bug 377549] Re: Sound notification doesn't work

2009-05-17 Thread lizardmenke
This is a static situation.

To reproduce:
Start xchat-gnome open preferences-scripts and plugins- notification sounds.
(these may be called differently as I have a dutch install)
Then enter a few words that should be highlighted when mentioned in a
conversation in the section preferences.

Now there should be played a (ping..) sound every time one of these
words occurs in a conversation (i.e your callsign).

In hardy this works fine ( I have one laptop still on hardy), But in
Jaunty there is no sound anymore. ( laptop, desktop and netbook).

** Description changed:

  in Hardy Heron (8.04)

Nautilus does *not* ask me to confirm my choice, and goes ahead to empty the
trash. Eventhough I selected the option to ask me for confirmation,
+ If after a fresh boot I click the trash icon and then 'empty trash' button (I
hope that is the right name , I have dutch version), Nautilus does *not* ask me
to confirm my choice, and goes ahead to empty the trash. Eventhough I selected

[Bug 191137] Re: [Hardy] ACPI Embedded Controller (EC) stops boot when kernel boot 'quiet' option is enabled or AC power is connected

2008-05-25 Thread lizardmenke
I have this problem with sony vgn-n11s kernel 2.6.24-17-generic and dualboot
with Win-XP.
When the problem occurs I push power button to stop the laptop.
Then I boot into Win-XP and let win do a disk check-and repair on C: drive.
Win does the check next time it boots up.
After Win did the C: drive check and the obligatory reboot, I shut down the
laptop.
Then I start it up again and everything is fine and the system boots
automaticaly into Ubuntu.
Until after +/- 30 days or so and as many or more boots (only Ubuntu) It
happens again and I must do the same 'trick' once more.

I'm running Ubuntu gutsy and I can confirm the problem: Sending a file
from the computer to, in my case, a mobile phone is No problem. But if I
try to send a file from the phone to the computer, the phone can not
connect or doesn't 'see' the computer at all.

[Bug 178530] Re: hardy alpha2 PRO/Wireless 3945ABG does not work

2008-01-13 Thread lizardmenke
Trying [Hardy Alpha-3] (Live-cd session) Iwas able to make a wireless
connection and it seems to be stable. Eventhough the ssid is not listed,
using the 'connect to another wireless network' function helped me
establishing a WEP encrypted connection. The LED is still not showing
however.

All files I sent you come from the same machine, and that is why I wondered why
it works in Dapper and Edgy, but not Feisty.
I indeed do use WEP and mot WPA. When I use another pcmcia card (netgear
WG511T) I have no problems connecting.
 http://acx100.sourceforge.net/wiki/Distribution_list/Ubuntu indeed confirms
the ACX not working by default anymore in Feisty.
