Installation of Ubuntu 10.04 forced me to take another look at this bug. The workaround in the first post originated from this link: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=102344. I reread this thread and found out there were some new posts advising to update the BIOS. I downloaded an update from the ASUS site (which adressed this problem) and made the upgrade. I had the same problems within minutes or even before logging in (as described in the bug), for me the fix worked. Now I'm using external LAN and my dualboot Vista is working great with the internal card. No corruption with me. If someone wants safe, use Hardy, Gutsy, Feisty or Debian..
