[Bug 722837] [NEW] Replace gnome-bluetooth-applet with blueman
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth I would like to see Blueman replacing Gnome bluetooth applet in Natty. This is mainly because Blueman has far more features and is a better GUI to handle bluetooth-adapters. For example, with Blueman one can set the bluetooth-reciever as headset/a2dp, which is not possible with Gnome bluetooth applet. It just lacks to manage many of the features bluetooth provides. ** Affects: blueman Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: gnome-bluetooth (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: applet blueman bluetooth ** Also affects: blueman Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/722837 Title: Replace gnome-bluetooth-applet with blueman -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 439448] Re: visual corruption affecting several panel applets
I am affected by this bug as well. On my Computer it happens randomly. That means, even if the applets load well at the beginning, after a while and sporadically a second battery indicator applet appears. I have this problem only with this applet, never had another one doubled. Also it is in two different sizes but their behavior is the same (clicking on them opens their context-menu). This applet appears sometimes when opening Openoffice, opening pdf-files and so on. Restarting the panel with killall gnome-panel does not solve the problem. The icon is still there. Ok, the status is the follwing with my 0ac8:0321 Z-Star Microelectronics Corp-Webcam. i've installed libv4l 0.5.3. Ekiga: The Webcam works with the LD_PRELOAD-trick. [Bug 205990] Re: [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds
I just got it fixed now. I found on another website the tip that the resume-file in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d is not working together with encrypted swap (swap encrypted with /dev/urandom). The author of the tip wrote: "delete or comment out (#) the "RESUME=" line. Otherwise the splash screen (usplash) will show the console while boot i.e. the splash won't show the full booting time." So i did, and now bootsplash does not disappear anymore. -- [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/205990 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 205990] Re: [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds
Jeffery Davis, except your suggested workaround, is there any progress about this bug? Using a passphrase instead of /dev/urandom is possible but it's not an acceptable solution. Also, what i do not understand, why /dev/mapper/swap is also not working? I understand that if i use /dev/urandom for the swap-partition, the UUID of this partition changes at every boot. But /dev/mapper/swap is always the same. gerstrong, i did it exactly the way you describe above, but for me this does not work. Neither for skype nor for cheese. And, what i wrote above is wrong. [Bug 205990] Re: [hardy] splash screen disappears after a few seconds
In my case, the fixes above don't work. This is because i have a encrypted swap with /dev/mapper/swap. The problem is, that the UUID of the swap partition is changeing every reboot. So it ist not possible to solves this problem. because it is changeing i have in fstab: /dev/mapper/swap But unfortunately this is not accepted by usplash, so the splash-screen goes away at "Reading files needed to boot". I use 7.10 but i didn't know that urandom saves the random seed during start, restart and shutdown. [Bug 62751] Re: Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes (also non luks) in cryptsetup
Patrick J. LoPresti and mish, thank you both for the help. indeed /dev/random is the problem. Like mish said i could use /dev/urandom. I don't have /dev/hwrandom, so the urandom solution or the script mentioned in the manpage of random is the one i need. As a theoretically question, how can i use this script mentioned in the manpage? Mishs tip is helpful not to save entrophy in /var/run. but i stuck with putting the scripts at the right place. I put them to /etc/rcS.d for sart-up and there i put it with a name like S25... but this seems not to working as i get something like "dd: cat unknown command" or something equal like that. the shutdown-script i put in rc0.d and rc6.d but also there i don't know if this is correct and which numbers i should use. i assume it should be something like S... because if i understand this right, S is for starting the script. rc0.d and rc6.d are for shutdown and restart, if i am right. can somebody help me with this please. thanks in advance -- Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes (also non luks) in cryptsetup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62751 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 62751] Re: Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes (also non luks) in cryptsetup
Well it seems that is is a problem with the encrypted swap. i changed the lines in fstab and crypttab this way: fstab: /dev/mapper/swap noneswapsw 0 0 /dev/mapper/home /home ext3defaults0 0 crypttab: swap /dev/sda4 /dev/random swap home /dev/sda3 none luks,retry=1,cipher=aes-lrw-benbi in fact, it seems that for the encrypted swap an input is needed otherwise boot does not go on. so in this case, i first see "Starting early crypto disks..." and then nothing comes until i move my fingers over the touchpad. after i did this, "Enter LUKS passphrase" appears. I enter it, press "enter" and boot-up goes on. So is this a upstart problem, or a configuration problem? -- Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes (also non luks) in cryptsetup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62751 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 62751] Re: Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes (also non luks) in cryptsetup
I have to say that this bug is not completely solved. Some problems still exist. this is what i experience. Using gutsy, up-to-date as of 08.03.2008 Encrypted partitions: home and swap Type of encryption: Luks crypttab: home /dev/sda3 none luks,retry=1,cipher=aes-lrw-benbi swap /dev/sda4 /dev/random swap fstab: /dev/mapper/home /home ext3defaults0 0 /dev/mapper/swap noneswapsw 0 0 During boot-up the following behavior i can report: boot-up starts, splash goes away and i see "Starting early crypto disks..." then there is "Enter LUKS passphrase:" And i enter the passprase. After that i press "Enter" and can see "key slot 0 unlocked. command successful" but then boot doesn't continues until i move my fingers over the touchpad. well, pressing any key doesn't let the boot-process continuing. so it seems that there is an input expected which in my case only with the touchpad can be made. after moving the fingers over the pad, i can see "Starting remaining cryptodisks..." and boot-up goes on. could it be, that the swap is the problem or the order of the lines in the fstab/crypttab Could this be explained and or confirmed by somebody? ** Changed in: cryptsetup (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Confirmed -- Upstart doesn't activate luks volumes (also non luks) in cryptsetup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/62751 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Sebastian Bacher: To answere your questions: in my case i use totem-gstreamer Well: on a new system i do the following and i can reproduce it: starting with gconf-edit values of totem which are: brightness 32639 contrast 16191 hue 32767 saturation 8135 I open totem, play a normal dvd-vob file. after first play, lets say i play it for about 20 sec. (but the playing- time doesn't matter) the values i can see with gconf-editor changed itself to: brightness 32382 contrast 15934 hue 32767 saturation 8007 after next play (just closing totem and open it some seconds later) brightness 32125 contrast 15677 hue 32767 saturation 7879 next play: brightness 31868 contrast 15420 hue 32767 saturation 7751 and so on. after resetting the values, the changes are exactly the same with the same steps. it seems that the values are constanly going down. this also affects the values from mplayer as well. system specs: xorg-video-intel: 2:2.1.1-0ubuntu9.1 xorg: 1:7.2-5ubuntu13 kernel: 2.6.22-14.52 lspci: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. after some testing i have to correct my posts above. for me it works (cryptsetup without luks) but mostly not. this means on boot - mostly the "Enter passphrase" message does not appear until i press some buttons. system seems to hang at "Starting early crypto disks". only a very few times the message "Enter passphrase" appear without pressing anything. and also pressing is different from time to time. sometimes pressing only one key is enough, and sometimes, i had to press more than one (but not at the same time). ** Changed in: cryptsetup (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Confirmed -- [Feisty] crypted root doesnt mount on start (cryptsetup) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85640 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
