[Bug 1950104] [NEW] Touchpad and WIFI randomly stop working

2021-11-07 Thread lsmobrian
Public bug reported:

Just based on environment it seems that the wifi is crashing and results
in other Intel to crash as well. Dell 7390 XPS 13 (dev) has been fine
but after changing wifi router I started noticing dropped wifi with
firmware crashes in dmesg on 18.04, upgraded to 20.04, updated BIOS,
updated all other firmware using firmware update manager and the wifi
problem persisted, but now the touchpad has become a noticeable issue as
well. One the wifi signal comes back the touchpad works again.

[Bug 722027] [NEW] Description text in wrong location on info

2011-02-19 Thread lsmobrian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

Using 3.1.19 in natty.

The description text on the info page sometimes is in the wrong location. It
doesn't happen with every case.
1. Choose provided by Ubuntu
2. Use the quick search for "ubntu-" (should result in ubuntu-restricted and
edubuntu packages)
3. click more info on tertiary bundle
4. go back to list by clicking search results
5. click more info on secondary bundle

If bug occurs text normally next to screenshot will be at the upper-left
corner of window pane, resizing the window resets to correct position.

[Bug 629870] Re: 10.10 beta : Installer does not work

2010-09-06 Thread lsmobrian
I also have run into this problem. installing beta from usb onto an hp
1035 mini. The installer window is not sized for a netbook and therefor
a user cannot see anything below "retrieving file 2 of 6" and that line
for me was cut in half... so it could be 2 or 3. I am doing a guided
install on the entire disk, with internet access. I also checked the mp3
fluendo box. attached are my syslog and debug ... they may be a bit
large, i left it sitting a while

[Bug 566390] [NEW] USBCreatorProcessException FAT vs any other format

2010-04-18 Thread lsmobrian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usb-creator

My usb drive is ext2 (the default that gparted used) after formatting.
When I try to use usb-creator, I select the iso and parition on the usb
drive and 'make startup disk' is still clickable, but immediately when i
click it 'Failed to install the bootloader' and then usb-creator just
closes (as an aside, could it just go back to the main screen instead of
closing on fail? close on completion only)

When I checked the log, it turns out it failed because the partition was
not FAT. No where in the help documents does it actually say this is
needed, and since it's writing boot media.. isnt it going to partition
the drive anyways so it knows everything is correct instead of assuming
the user has inserted a correct usb drive.

Lucid 2.22

[Bug 484252] Re: Wrong behaviour on format action

2010-04-16 Thread lsmobrian
I have a 2GB usb drive split into two 1GB partitions. I dont recall
what format and usb-creator just formatted both. I used sdb2 to hold
the lucid iso that i zsync'd and sdb1 to make into an install partition.

usb-creator listed /dev/sdb, with sdb1 and sdb2 in the tree. I loaded up
usb-creator and selected the iso from sdb2 and selected sdb1 as the
drive to write to, however 'make startup disk' was grayed out. I closed
creator, umount'd sdb1 and reopened creator, still no make button. so i
tried the 'erase disk' option next to sdb1 to find that it completely
wiped /dev/sdb not just sdb1 .awww there goes my awesome zsync
script i wrote on sdb2 to update my iso

2008-08-18 Thread lsmobrian
gdm 2.20.7

running 'watch cat ~/.gnome2/Empathy/geometry.ini' I can see the x and y
change. I know the #s would be specific to my setup probably, but the x
increases by 10 everytime(including after it has hit bottom and begins moving
right) and the y increases by 48(stops increasing once it hits bottom) (10 and
48 are constant if i resize or move window if that matters)

[Bug 258080] Re: collapse gmail buddy list

2008-08-18 Thread lsmobrian
I added an AIM acct(add acct->aim) and a gmail acct(add acct->google
talk, switches to jabber after adding ).

My AIM contacts are in their groups that I can collapse and expand

My gmail contacts are not in a group, they are just listed without a
grouping. So it would be impossible to collapse my gmail acct contacts.
Should gmail(jabber) contacts be included in a group if not already? I
suppose this could be considered a feature request, but with a large
number of contacts I would think this would be a bug.

[Bug 249680] Re: Eclipse upgrade

2008-07-17 Thread lsmobrian
Ok, so you may not be able to do version upgrades, so ignore that
part... but it still just sits there and times out on upgrading a
regular user without any obvious reason

[Bug 249680] [NEW] Eclipse upgrade

2008-07-17 Thread lsmobrian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eclipse

Trying to upgrade eclipse from repo's 3.2 version to new 3.4

as a regular user, when I did Help->Software Updates->Find and Install->Search
for updates...
I could get as far as selecting a mirror, but download never starts

when i run gksudo eclipse and repeat update process it works right away.

If eclipse cant update due to permissions as regular user rights, should
there be an option to unlock.. or very least a prompt to run as root

2008-03-06 Thread lsmobrian
Confirmed. After pressing esc to canel, fsck runs in text mode. Does not show
text based status bar
I thought I locked my system up when i hit escape so i pressed ctrl+alt+del and
let it run in graphical then tried it again
sudo touch /forcefsck

/var/log/fsck/checkfs and /var/log/fsck/checkroot look normal
