[Bug 398531] Re: CREATIVE X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB bad sound, no remote control

2009-10-31 Thread marcello100
Sound on Ubuntu 9.10 works, also software volume control and it's more or less
plug and play.
Remote control doesn't work, same with hardware volume control.

I'm attaching also wireshark log of what was transmitted during plugging
in the device and then when I press any key on remote control or
hardware volume button(all interrupts were when I pressed something). Is
it normal, that when I press different keys, wireshark shows always the
same datagram?

** Attachment added: "some wireshark sniffing of the usb device"

** Summary changed:

- CREATIVE X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB bad sound, no remote control
+ CREATIVE X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB no remote control

** Changed in: alsa-driver (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Confirmed

** Description changed:

+ edit: the sound and soft. volume control works on 9.10

  hw not working: CREATIVE X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB

  what should work:

  1clear sound,
  2 infrared remote control and hardware volume control button,
  3 no volume control
  4. device works with full speed, which is according specification USB 1.0
speed, it should be high speed USB 2.0.

  what's the problem:

  1sound has pops and cracks few times per second.

  2 remote control in this sound card is not implemented in driver, so no HID

  3. no mixer
  4. USB 1.0 speed prevents special features like surround and crystalizer to

[Bug 34501] Re: touchpad lockup/drag and lost scroll

2009-07-11 Thread marcello100
I didn't have this bug on my machine, since 8.10 I think it worked
pretty well.. Now I use 9.04 and it works.

But... 9.10 Alpha 2 has the same old bug. I know it's alpha and I don't
want to let the bug come to stable release.

Also doubleclick on touchpad doesn't work, touchpad button works.

[Bug 349412] Re: GMA950 + external lcd does not work on high resolution

2009-07-11 Thread marcello100
Today I tried Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 2.

No change at all.. Only loss of wallpaper and everything except the
cursor, which was normal in laptop screen and horizontally distorted on
2nd monitor. I tried EXA and UXA also.

Offtopic: performance on glxgears was once 1000FPS, now on 9.04 about
400, and 9.10 300 on exa and uxa also.

I know it's, it's alpha.

It's weird, that on my Atom based PC HD works just fine, on Acer with
Core2 with the same graphic card it don't.

[Bug 349412] [NEW] GMA950 + external lcd does not work on high resolution

2009-03-27 Thread marcello100
Public bug reported:

I have Acer Aspire 5710Z with Intel GMA950 graphic card and VGA out.
Last week I bought a new lcd monitor Samsung SyncMaster 2343nw with VGA
input and with resolution of 2048x1152. My operating system is Ubuntu
8.10

When I plugged it in, I can only get 1440x900 out of that external lcd with
1200x800 on internal monitor. I changed Virtual resolution in xorg.conf to
2048x2048(maximum for GMA) and set my external monitor to be on top. I can get
then 2 monitors with extended desktop and Compiz fully working, but anything
above 1440x900 resolution on external lcd cause some strange artefacts on it. I
can't see anything there on that desktop.

I configure only the virtual resolution in xorg.conf and resolution in
gnome with "screen resolution" applet.

I was quite interested, how well would it work on Windows. XP no
problem, now using Vista with 2048x1152, so it is possible, it's not
that my card is not possible to drive it or the DAC is weak.

Any solution? Is it bad configuration or bug in driver?

[Bug 34501] Re: touchpad lockup/drag

2008-07-09 Thread marcello100
Ok.. maybe I did it... I was experiencing the same bug and it sucked me
a lot(#96596, cursor out of sync).

this is the relevant part of dmesg

...
[  794.450212] psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver
resynched.
[ 794.451978] psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte

[  795.740513] input: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint as

So I did this:

sudo echo 1 > /sys/module/psmouse/parameters/resetafter

Now it works well, however, when I type "cat
/sys/module/psmouse/parameters/resetafter", there's still number 5.

The trick is, that after "issuing reconnect request" the bug instantly
dissappears. So I wanted to reset the device immediatelly. Changing to
number 1 solve it.

This is the part of the driver, which I believe resets the device
psmouse->pktcnt = 0;
if (psmouse_resetafter > 0 && priv->out_of_sync == psmouse_resetafter) {
psmouse->state = PSMOUSE_IGNORE;
-   serio_rescan(psmouse->serio);
+   printk(KERN_NOTICE "synaptics: issuing reconnect request\n");
+   serio_reconnect(psmouse->serio);
}

I don't know, if it works for you, but if yes, write some feedback. If
no, write it too :)
