In fact after the upgrade that didn't finished well. Computer was frozen on installation but didn't progresss anymor so I had to reboot it. Then it refused but using the repair session and repairing file system I could get 11.10 working. I removed today virtual box and tried to get all what was missing but it didn't downloaded anything neither repaired any missing package I assume I shold be ok by now and I reinstalled virtualbox.. In fact ther it complains for old package. I am suspecting that ubuntu doesn't support very well installation over isntallation (I mean starting form an old vesion and upgrading to a newer). It would be really better to reinstall instead of upgrading but up to now I'd like this to happen without having to reinstallat all additionla software / and tweeking i've been doing on my ubuntu version. I saw this is to become possible but I am awaiting feed back (i've already had in the past to reinstall and reconfigure everything and always you forgot one thing) Again thks for your help Regards Marc -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876764 Title: package ubuntu-desktop 1.245 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/876764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 134668] Re: In gutsy gibbon tribe 5 there is no sound
Hi thanks for this input but it wasn't the case of any muted "source" I've checked. Since yesterday (after linux a linux module upgrade from the repository) I have the sound almost as expected for sure now I can ear sound from the rear output. The only missing feature that was working on feisty but that was missing with tribe cd 4 is the soubnd control for mut and volume up , volume down from my keayboard : I mean volume + canonly go up to 11% and volume - goes to 0 but not effective. On top of that mute makes teh speaker symbole on my kubuntu desktop as being muted but in fact it is not muted at all. THis problem I had already with tribe cd 4. not reported by myself. As you could notice I am using Kubuntu so might be an issue from the desktop I don't know Best regards Marc technogran a écrit : > Re- no sound in Gutsy Gibbon now have sound! same problem for me with realtek, it was working fine with the tribe 4 but soon I upgraded to tribe 5 I can't have soun from my realtek, the only sound I have is coming from the front headphone output plug on my PC (and i am not sure this interface is managed by the realtek device HAL device manager sees pcspeaker output differently than the audio card) detail : lspci gives for audio 00:05.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP61 High Definition Audio (rev a2) Subsystem: Elitegroup Computer Systems Unknown device a88d Flags: bus master, 66MHz, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 23 Memory at fe028000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: -- In gutsy gibbon tribe 5 there is no sound https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134668 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo apt-get purge console-setup Password: E: L'opération purge n'est pas valable meaning with a rough traduction purge operation is not valid this other suggestion sudo apt-get --purge remove console-setup this will remove all the configuration files of console-setup. Then install with: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-minimal doesn't give any error message (against what happened in the past) and nice to see that console-setup is installed (during my tries I could remove console setup and of course after that nothing was complainning about error in consol-setup) Thanks to all of you it looks fine now, you are marvellous I can go sleeping it's enough for today ;-) -- fail to install with subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 3 https://launchpad.net/bugs/91399 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry if my question seems stupid but I understood martin suggestion as remove the console set-up package and then reinstall it (apt-get remove and then via adept manager request console-set-up install) and I get again the error for this console setup package So either i didn't understood Martin suggestion either there are still a problem dpkg : erreur de traitement de console-setup (--configure) : le sous-processus post-installation script a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 20 Des erreurs ont été rencontrées pendant l'exécution : console-setup E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) -- fail to install with subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 3 https://launchpad.net/bugs/91399 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 87641] Re: [apport] dpkg-preconfigure crashed with SIGSEGV in xcall_QGroupBox()
happened to me too, I can't use anymore adept update cause a few days ago as it was never ending stopping and crashing I lost totally control of my PC and it wasn't possible to stop it the right way. I had to switch off wrong way (power down) and then the fils system refused to start-up any more. i had tyo resintall again averything. I use the alternate amd64 6.10 that after hand I UPGRADE to feisty (editing source list). Reason is from the live cd rom it refuses to format and install in teh partition I want it goes to. BUT with the 6.10 alternate cdrom it does what I want then I just need to update. It goes fine and I can do some upgrade untill it complains for thoses missing values. -- [apport] dpkg-preconfigure crashed with SIGSEGV in xcall_QGroupBox() https://launchpad.net/bugs/87641 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
