[Bug 182778] Re: Wrong resolution on Hardy Alpha 3
I updated to Hardy Beta (Averatec 3280) and now the work-around does not work... The live CD booted to the wrong resolution but I could change it on the System Preferences dialog. After the installation, the system boots fine but at the end the screen goes black and nothing happens. After about 5 minutes a windows pops up saying that Ubuntu was booting in low resolution. I said ok, proceed and the PC halted again without showing the GDM. I then booted in text mode and installed OpenChrome from source. After that modified the xorg.cong file to set the resolution to 1024x768. Running "/etc/init.d/gdm restart" brings the Ubuntu Log-in screen. After logging in, the systems shows a light brown screen and halts there... Any ideas? Is there any file I could upload so someone could take a look? Thanks! Re: [Bug 71345] Re: GTK applications crash sometime with gdk_events functions to the backtrace
Hello, I had the gtk-qt-engine installed the last time. The one I had removed originally was the gtk2-engines-qt... Now that I also removed the gtk-qt-engine package GNOME loads and I can modify the themes. However, I still got a crash at startup (Synaptic this time). I am attaching a ZIP file with the crash reports I got in /var/crash/ (Sorry, I cannot send it it is a 21MB file! Can I upload it somewhere?). Just let me say that now KDE looks very ugly without the qt-gtk engine. Especially Firefox looks very creepy. Do you think this bug is fixable? Let me know what else I could do for helping you guys. Re: [Bug 71345] Re: GTK applications crash sometime with gdk_events functions to the backtrace
I installed Kubuntu first and "Ubuntu-Desktop" on top of that. Then I removed the gtk2-engines-gtk-qt or something like that, which also removes "kubuntu-desktop". The problem persists in Feisty, but in Edgy removing the gtk2... package solved the problem of "gnome-theme-manager" crashing (Although now Firefox and all the gtk applications look ugly on KDE). Re: [Bug 87606] Re: [apport] nm-applet crashed with SIGSEGV
Hello, I just double checked, the dtk2... package was NOT installed. So, the problem occured even without the qt-gtk engine... It is curious as I did the same in Edgy, and I had the "gnome-theme-manager" crashing on me. I reported the bug and removing the gtk2 package solved the problem (Although now the GTK applications look ugly on KDE). The system is up-to-date. Hello, I installed Kubuntu Feisty, which works very well. Then I installed "ubuntu-desktop" and GNOME has never ever worked without crashing. Re: [Bug 84448] Re: Theme Manager in Ubuntu Not Working-Hanging
Here is what I get in the terminal when opening the gnome-theme-manager: In Feisty the "volume control" also crashes as soon as Gnome boots...but maybe that's not related? (that does not happen with edgy). Thanks! Hello, Please note that it is not a problem exclusive of Feisty. I have the same problem with Edgy, which has no control center. Re: [Bug 84448] Re: Theme Manager in Ubuntu Not Working-Hanging
Hello Matt, That would be great. As I said in the report, I started with a fresh Kubuntu (edgy and feisty) installation, then I installed the meta-package "ubuntu-desktop". So if someone else can repeat the steps I am quite positive you will be able to reproduce the error. Using the same PCs with Dapper I did not experience such a problem. BTW, I set KDE as the default desktop during the installation of Ubuntu- desktop. Thanks a lot for your help Cheers Mariano On 2/12/07, Matt Medland <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I'm not quite sure what happening to be honest. Re: [Bug 84448] Re: Theme Manager in Ubuntu Not Wroking-Hanging
Hello Matt, Here is the file. The problem is that the report says that the program exited normally. The Theme manager did not work at all, but the exit button is not hanging so I believe that the report is not seeing what is happening when you open the theme manager. For instance, other programs crashed when I was doing the report (Firefox and Volume Control). Moreover, my theme changed randomly and now I cannot set it back to the Human Theme! Let me know how I can help. Thanks! Cheers Mariano On 2/11/07, Matt Medland <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi again, > > It's gnome-theme-manager I believe. Hello Matt, Sure, I think I can do this. I will send you the backtrace in a few. Thanks! [Bug 84448] Theme Manager in Ubuntu Not Wroking-Hanging
Public bug reported: The "Theme Preferences" hangs after opening it in both Edgy and Dapper. Description to reproduce this issue: I installed Kubuntu (edgy and feisty), then I installed "ubuntu-desktop" meta-package. When I log in Gnome and go to "Theme preferences" the Theme Preferences window hangs and I cannot change the themes. All the other buttons (help, quit etc) work but themes cannot be selected. I reproduce this in 2 different PCs doing the Kubuntu and posterior "ubuntu-desktop" installation. Thanks! [Bug 84435] Re: prism2 not working anymore
Similar problem here, but I do not know which modulus is the problem. I have an ACER Aspire with an integrated Intel a/b/g wireless card. The card worked great out of the box since dapper, it is just the latest edgy kernel update (17-11) that broke the card.
