[Bug 1160626] [NEW] (have not noticed operational problem) virtualbox-dkms 4.1.12-dfsg-2ubuntu0.2: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2013-03-26 Thread martinholsinger
Public bug reported:

I just installed virtualbox and got an error/bug message. I started to
set it up, but decided to wait until another time to do so because my
son installed it for me on my other computer and it was asking me
questions i didn't know how to answer, so i'm going to wait and finish
the installation when he can talk me through it. I use virtualbox
because there are several windows-based fractal programs that i like to
use that do not, as far as i know, have linux versions available.

Re: [Bug 1050139] Re: dash home disappears except for bar at top of screen

2012-09-15 Thread martinholsinger
Thanks--that appears to have fixed it! It's worked several times in a row,
although I had to wait until it "chose" to appear when it was irregular in
order to get into a terminal window and type in that command.

[Bug 1050139] [NEW] dash home disappears except for bar at top of screen

2012-09-12 Thread martinholsinger
Public bug reported:

i changed the visual effect in compaiz ..i lost the dash home bar and
everthind in the desktop winow even the shutdown button was gone

I didn't do what this guy did, it just disappeared except for a bar at
the top of the screen, which has a max button and a min button that
don't do anything, and a close button that will close it--then every
once in a while, it will load OK. I tried the solution suggested, and
it didn't change anything or make anything happen. Furthermore, LIVES,
a video program I have been using, completely freezes up after opening.
It's not an easy program to use in the first place, but under the new
version of Ubuntu it is completely dysfunctional. I have been using
Ubuntu Linux for years and it's always worked pretty well, but this new
version seems to have a bit too many bells and whistles.
