[Bug 1380205] [NEW] do-upgrade-release crashes with AttributeError: 'AptCdrom' object has no attribute 'restore_backup'

2014-10-11 Thread mateolan
Public bug reported:

When runnung sudo do-release-upgrade in a laptop-sized terminal window, the
traceback seen below is seen. What is not seen are the instructions for how to
report it. Furthermore, the scrollbar in teh terminal window is disabled during
the process, thereby limiting a users ability to scroll back through the
history. It was only upon expanding the size of the terminal window to an
additional monitor that I was able to see:
"A fatal error has occurred.
Please report this as a bug and include the files
/var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log and /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log in
your report. The upgrade has aborted.
Your original sources.list was saved in
/etc/apt/sources.list.distUpgrade."

So the reality is this is probably affecting lots of people, but they
have no way of knowing how to report it.

Here is the traceback:

[Bug 1357005] Re: release upgrade fails on some aptcdrom atribute error

2014-11-12 Thread mateolan
@Brian Murray, when this happened to me, I was not trying to upgrade via
cdrom or DVD, i was trying to upgrade via command:

sudo do-release-upgrade

When I look at my sources.list it is true that my cdrom lines are
commented out.

However, I hope this isn't the expected result of commenting-out those
lines...right?

I don't want to use the Adwaita Theme, it conflicts with my Cinnamon
settings...it would be helpful for color settings to default to user's
window manager settings, yet parameterizable in a conf editor.
