[Bug 773295] Re: Sudo asks for root password instead of user password
I'm running Lubuntu 11.04 x64, fresh install, and I have this issue. I note that my applications in the menu [that need privileges] have a gksu, and changing them to gksudo makes them launch just fine. It's just when I launch apps with gksu that it happens. Changing the application menu entries to use gksudo is not really the fix, though, for if I install a new app with privileges or if I reinstall something like Synaptic, they'll be back to gksu. I've ran $gksudo gksu- properties , and it showed that su was being used, so changed to sudo and rebooted, with no luck. Is this a policy-kit issue? I just mention that because I note that when I run an app with gksudo it comes up with a window asking for *my* passwd and gives a little plus-sign with a polkit entry, but when running apps in my main menu (and those run with gksu, as I said earlier), those come up with a slightly different auth window that asks for the "administrative password", and asks if you want to remember it for the session, or forever in the keyring. As a side note, I installed with the Ubuntu 11.04 x64 Alternate CD, changed the mode to command-line only (forgot the wording), and installed a minimal Ubuntu desktop, then after the install did a $sudo aptitude install lubuntu-desktop , to get Lubuntu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/773295 Title: Sudo asks for root password instead of user password To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sudo/+bug/773295/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 558581] Re: Indicator-applet forcibly overrides Super+m key combo
Who in the frick actually *wants* a key that drops down the Indicator Applet, but doesn't bring it back up??? And what's the purpose of it?? It asks me if I want to setup email, broadcasting, and messaging now I have to bring my mouse on over there to close it back. yes, i realize that's just a rant, but it sure seems that a lot of energy has been put forth into a feature that nobody's screaming for... Alex Beels: running "/usr/bin/gtk-window-decorator --replace" after logging in doesn't bring back my windows+m key (using the default of inverse colors for entire screen). Of course windows+n always works (inverse colors for current window). Because this is after the Indicator Applet has ran it's "/usr/lib/indicator-applet/indicator- applet", I'm thinking the order does not matter. I randomly can use the windows+m to do my compiz goodie of inversing the colors, but I haven't been able to detect a rhyme or reason to it. How do you replace indicator-applet with indicator-applet-complete? Can you give the details?
