Launched in a shell i got this message:

~$ pyrenamer
/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/pyrenamer/pyrenamer.py:120: GtkWarning:
GtkSpinButton: setting an adjustment with non-zero page size is deprecated

According to this thread
(http://forum.elementaryos-fr.org/topic/1281-non-r%C3%A9solu-pyrenamer-ne-se-lance-pas/),
the bug could come from this bug #1376530 which seems patched upstream.

#17 @Colin Law (about Trusty)

Thanks for the report, but it's a different problem for Trusty.

You can't use fglrx-installer on Radon HD [Mobility] 2000-3000-4000
series with Ubuntu ≥ 12.10 out of the box.

See the bug #1058040 : there are workarounds which are explained there
(downgrade Xorg server using a PPA) but I think there's not the the good
place to deal with it.

I had to downgrade manually the driver to the old 8.960 which works without

fglrx-updates in replacement , with the same issues. I experimented
fglrx-update some months (a year?) ago with similar problems, but at that time
it was a conscient experimentation.
The 13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 could maybe stay in fglrx-updates, and no fglrx ?

5) Workaround
I had to downgrade manually the driver to the old 8.960 which works without
problem.

I tried to do an apt-get remove fglrx fglrx-amdcccle but apt-get gaves me
fglrx-updates in replacement , with the same issues. I experimented
fglrx-update some months (a year?) ago with similar problems, but at that time
it was a conscient experimentation.
The 13.101-0ubuntu0.0.1 could maybe stay in fglrx-updates, and no fglrx ?

[Bug 359981] Re: Translations missing in Adobe Reader

2013-03-21 Thread mavosaure
Some bad news :
these 3 packages (adobereader-[deu/fra/jpn] or acroread-[deu/fra/jpn]) became
transitional packages... In other words, they have been emptied.
http://archive.canonical.com/dists/precise/partner/binary-i386/Packages.gz
http://archive.canonical.com/dists/quantal/partner/binary-i386/Packages.gz

Using the main binary from the partner repos, you can access, in
prefernces, to a language selection dialog... but the selection list is
empty (except English)

Some translations are always online on the official site, even with the
disinterest of Adobe for Linux : http://get.adobe.com/fr/reader/otherversions/
Chinese (simplified/traditional), Danish, Dutch, English (US/UK), Finnish,
French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish,
Swedish.

Adobe Reader is now available for Precise in the Partner repository in German,
French and Nippon through dedicated packages:
adobereader-deu
adobereader-fra
adobereader-jpn

But there are only theses languages which are available.

2012-11-22 Thread mavosaure
According to french community documentation page (http://doc.ubuntu-
fr.org/rhythmbox#la_barre_d_espace_ne_fonctionne_pas_pour_la_recherche),
another workardound is to switch the default french keyboard map
(français - variante) to another (french). It's known to work but it
changes map for a lot of keys.

[Bug 1055006] Re: Ubuntu 12.10 beta 1 amd64 installer hanging during boot.

2012-10-27 Thread mavosaure
I experiment a similar bug, but I can't be sure it's exactly the same. I
hope we'll find something to explain and resolve our problems.

After testing without any problem the Kubuntu 12.10 beta 2 (amd64
flavor, install with live-usb on a test partition), I try many times
after the release to set up Ubuntu 12.10 (in replacement of my old
11.10).

Everything I try fails (all with live-usb) :
 - Ubuntu 12.10 64
 - Xubuntu 12.10 64

on messages as stopping save kernel messagesOK
or starting CUPS printing spooler/server OK

I tried boot options as acpi=off, noapic, nolapic without any
amelioration.

Finally, I try Ubuntu 12.10 64 server with a minimal config... and it works.
But after reboot, when I did a sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop, I got many
times the message

FATAL: could not load /lib/modules/3.0.0-12-generic/modules.dep: No such file
ord directory
Amazing if we consider that Quantal uses linux 3.6
After this error, when I rebooted, my install was dead (again).

Finally I tried again Ubuntu 11.10 64 which got installed without any problem.
And now 12.04.1.
But I'd like to understand why I'm damned with 12.10. And if I have to prevent
my system to upgrade to 12.10

It affects me also (Ubuntu 12.10 fresh install).

On Ubuntu 11.10 (and probably 12.04), the desktop file had the line

[Bug 945028] Re: network printing via LiveBox: cups-ipp-missing-validate-job

2012-07-02 Thread mavosaure
Thanks for all Till.

We just had this bug again (as after an upgrade to Oneiric, as reported
in the #881843) after a fresh install of Precise. We are using a modem-
router BBox2 (of the french internet provider Bouygues Telecom), which
is also the same hardware (and maybe software under the rebranding) as
Orange Livebox 2 (Sagem F@st 3504).

The package 1.5.3-0ubuntu2~ppa14 works coming from your ppa with the protocol
ipp14 with no any warning :
ipp14://bbox

But with just the simple ipp, we get the same warning message Print file was
not accepted.
And as job-printer-state-reasons : [u'cups-ipp-conformance-failure-report',
u'cups-ipp-missing-validate-job']

For me it's OK : applying the package-update cups - 1.5.0-13 (from the

Good job!

Hi,

I also experiment the same issue since I updated to Oneiric. My
ADSL/modem BBox2 router is branded by another french provider
Bouygues, but it's in fact the same device : SAGEM f@st 3504.

I'll try you patch and give you some news.

[Bug 881843] Re: CUPS IPP print to Novell servers error since 11.10 upgrade

2011-11-08 Thread mavosaure
Great : using patch of comment #46, it works for me but with two visible
non-fatal errors :

cups-ipp-missing-job-history
spool-area-full

Notice that I had to create a new printer using the new URI
ipp://printserver/ipp/printername?nohttpchunking=yes to avoid to get
the printer status no profiles specified in PPD

I apologize, but I didn't succeed in looging a tcpdump, i got only empty
files (after changing the network device).

[Bug 688146] Re: Maverick: Very slow and unstable wireless connection with BCM4322 on 5, 5 Macbook pro

2011-03-23 Thread mavosaure
I encountered the same bug on two Dell laptops with different Broadcom
chipsets, using Broadcom STA driver :
Dell Studio 1558 with BCM43224 (Ubuntu 10.10 amd64)
Dell Studio 1737 with BCM 4322 (Ubuntu 10.10 i386)

Both are working with Ubuntu Maverick.

Using Anders Hessellund Jensen's workaround (comment #4) make a real
improvement for me! It allows to get a good, stable and reliable
connexion, but if someone is able to find a patch...

Or maybe we'll have to try the natty package? Could it be backported, as
Mark Smith has ever asked it (#8)?

[Bug 359981] Re: localisation missing

2010-11-26 Thread mavosaure
I don't understand why, but acroread is now available in English and in
German. So it's possible to localize it, didn't it?

Today, on the Adobe web site, it's available :
for 8.1.7
both Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Italian and Japanese

8.1.7 and 9.4 :
English (UK US), French, German, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and
Swedish.

So why isn't it possible to get it in these languages?

[Bug 441941] Re: grub fails after running Windows

2010-09-30 Thread mavosaure
@Colin : I hope you 'll find something interesting with my files.

Reading the comment #166 of Gogl make me remember that I have also
LoJack, but in my case it isn't activated. But it may be a service or
something like this which is launching at the set-up and that I didn't
recognize. I read a little about and it seems it's setted up in the BIOS
and in some cases it could write into the MBR :-(.

In other hand, note that I removed Dell DataSafe from the start-up list
of msconfig without any effect.

2010-09-22 Thread mavosaure
OK, I've t many things to do under Windows and Ubuntu, so I can break
my GRUB many times... It's just a question of time :-)

Le 22/09/2010 15:39, Colin Watson a écrit :
It's only bad news in that the contents of the sector that's been
overwritten are almost completely different from what you gave me
before. The only similarity I can see is that there's the following
sequence of characters in your first dump:

77DNN88M71WX

... and the following sequence in your second dump:

XW17M88NND77

The latter is exactly the reverse of the former. Did you receive any
Dell updates in the intervening time?

Could you repeat the procedure (say) three more times - reinstall GRUB,
record image with dd, reboot to Windows, do whatever you need to do to
break things, record image with dd, and repeat? I'd like to try to get
an idea of which features of the overwritten sector are stable and can
 be detected.

[Bug 441941] Re: grub fails after running Windows

2010-09-13 Thread mavosaure
As reported in bug #551721, I experimented this bug since the 20th of august on
my Dell Studio 1558 laptop, just after a Dell update when I was using Windows
Seven. But the little difference is the error message. (Each time I recover
GRUB using the same method, with a the lucid live USB) Most of time, I got :
no module name found
Aborted. Press any key to exit. (as in #551721)
or sometimes , just a blinking _

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.1 amd64 in dual boot with Seven and the problem
is probably caused like other people by Dell Datasafe Local Backup,
that I didn't uninstall.

@ Colin : you 'll find files requested by Felix attached here.

[Bug 551721] Re: [grub2] grub fails to load again (in Lucid)

2010-08-25 Thread mavosaure
I experiment the same problem for a few, on may Dell Studio 1558 laptop.

Am friday 20th of august i was working on Windows Seven When a Dell update was
applied without I should agree or disagree. After reboot I got also the
message :
no module name found.
Aborted. Press any key to exit

I wasn't able to get the GRUB menu to launch neither Ubuntu (10.04
+updates , amd64, setted up on dual booth with default options of the
live CD) nor Seven.

Using a live-USB, I succeeded to restore the grub install using
sudo mkdir /media/ubuntu
sudo mount /dev/sda5# sd5 6 is the partition where is my root of Ubuntu
sudo grub-install --root-directory /media/ubuntu /dev/sda

My partitions are
/dev/sda1 Dell Utility
/dev/sda2 * RECOVERY [sudo os-prober returns : Windows 7 (loader)]
/dev/sda3 OS [Windows 7 directory]
/dev/sda5 Ubuntu root directory [sudo os-prober returns : Ubuntu 10.04.1
LTS]
/dev/sda6 swap
/dev/sda7 Home directory for Ubuntu
(...)

Each time I'm using Windows I had tio restore grub after rebooting. Even
after an hibernation.

Lots of people seem having the same problem as you can read on
ubuntuforums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1343851)

I hope to to find something better as the workaround to remove Dell
utility backup or to restore grub2 each time...

[Bug 529696] Re: brasero can't copy audio cd (useless error message)

2010-07-02 Thread mavosaure
Hi!

Yesterday, we just had the problem with 2 laptop using Ubuntu Lucid, trying to
copy an audio CD.

The first (Ubuntu i386) was asking about cdda2wav which was missing, and the
second (Ubuntu amd64) reported an internal error and create an empty log.

After reading theses comments I tried 2 things ;
 - I installed the package icedax (#4)
 - I updated brasero (3 packages, including the runtime) from the proposed
repository using 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 (i think it has just been pushed into update
today)

With theses 2 actions, simple copy of an audio CD works (I didn't make
any other test). Performing just one is not sufficient.

Burned CD audio are OK but there's still new problem :
 - info text are burned even if there's no one (and the burning process become
longer)
 - progress bar doesn't work any more.

I hope it could be useful.

Type the following command on the shell:

I'm gonna the debug, but before I'd like to relate something amazing :

The reported bug happens when I try to modify the settings of my
printer, when it's plugged on USB Port.

But sometimes, I use it also through my Internet Provider modem/router,
using it as a printer server. And when I print using this way, there is
no problem to edit the printer's settings, all is working perfectly.

[Bug 290068] Re: Freeplayer has to be patched to work with VLC 0.9.x

2009-07-03 Thread mavosaure
As reported, Freeplayer isn't able to work with VLC 0.9.x (Intrepid and
newer release of Ubuntu).

As described on Ubuntu-fr.org (http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/freeplayer), the
workaround is :

Edit the file : '/usr/bin/vlc-fbx'.

Delete –wx-systray from the file

Replace : –config=~/.vlc/vlcrc-fbx
by : –config=~/.config/vlc/vlcrc

Then install  libavcodec-unstripped-51 for Intrepid ;
and libavcodec-unstripped-52 for Jaunty.

Maybe is it possible to commit a patch?

Hi!

Using Intrepid, I've got exactly the same problem with a multifunction printer

Notice that I'm using a laptop (Dell studio 17) with an integrated webcam.
XSane works without anuy problem.

gnomescan: 0.4.1-0ubuntu4

Note although that this bug seems to be a duplicate from the #217753

I'll try the PPA and I'll give feedback.

2009-04-10 Thread mavosaure
@ Étienne BERSAC :
Using your PPA, I've got a warning message about partial update :
Certaines mises à jour ne peuvent pas être installées

I suppose that it's due to the fact of a difference in the name of the packages
:
~$ apt-cache policy gnomescan

So I'll try to remove gnomescan and add your gnome-scan.

I think the status could be changed to fix commited or fix released... but
don't want to do any mistake.

I know that's Jaunty's release is not so far, but it could be a good
idea to backport this package?

Number just after SWT: changes after closing and re-launching OneSwarm
but it's always the same for the 10 warning sentences.

[Bug 309512] Re: Dell Studio 17 (1737), 2 headphones jack do not work in Intrepid 8.10

2009-01-19 Thread mavosaure
Hello guys!

I've got a fresh install of Ubuntu Intrepid on a Dell Studio 17 (but
with a x86-64 kernel) and I experimented the same problem. Following
Stefan Bader's explanations, it's finally working :

  1. Activation of proposed repositories and installation
linux-generic_2.6.27.11.14 (through synaptic, for me... I was afraid of a
mistake with aptitude) and its dependences.
(reboot... don't know if it's necessary)
  2. Download and installation of
linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic_2.6.27-11.23smb5_i386 from Stefan's PPA, using
dpkg -i.
  3. Inactivation of proposed repositories and reboot on 2.6.27-11 kernel.

The headphone jacks are OK.

Thanks for all!

2009-01-15 Thread mavosaure
Hello

I'm on a fresh install of Intrepid Ubuntu on a Dell Studio 17, with an
intregrated webcam.

I've got the same warning message, but not the same troubleshooting :

~$ cheese

(cheese:8497): GStreamer-WARNING **: pad video_source:src returned caps which
are not a real subset of its template caps

Webcam works but just with the poorest resolution (160x120), but image is good.
And nothing with a bigger resolution.

Please note that I've got just an integrated video Chipset... maybe it
could be importan.

4) I use dual boot, with Intrepid and Windows XP. So I shared a music directory
on a partition between Ubuntu and XP. For each sub-directory, Windows creates
an hidden (for XP) file Thumbs.db (a kind of thumbnail, I suppose).
At each synchronization of the music directory, Rhythmbox notices me a warning
for each thumbs.db because it can't recognize their MIME type:

Le type MIME du fichier n'a pu être reconnu in french... Something like :
MIME type hasn't be recognized in English.

The same warnings are given for text files (*.txt in Windows) and Itunes
files (*.itl *.itdb in Windows).

It causes no problem for using Rhythmbox, but I think a lot of newbies could
find it frightening to got so many warnings. These errors couldn't be ignored?
Finally, real import errors are flooded under many useless warnings.

I don't care if my media player is'nt able to import text files or any
thumbnail system files, but I prefer to know if it failes to get audio
files... ;-)

Thanks

[Bug 218439] Re: CPU load randomly hits 100%; XMPP random reconnects

2008-06-28 Thread mavosaure
I've got similar problems :

- CPU came up to 100% untill I kill pidgin
- this problem affects only XMPP (Gmail in fact) account. For MSN, WLM (via
msn-pecan), Yahoo, there's no pb.
- sometimes, it works fine, but in many cases, it failes

Description of the bug :
- CPU came up to 100% untill I kill pidgin
- Tray icon disapear, leavin only a empty place.
- if pidgin window is not minimized, it can't be refresh

Workaround :
 - just kill and try again... if you find better...

Debug-logs :
I tried to prompt a ot of debug log for pidgin. I don't see any critical
message but I'm not developper or hacker.
At the beginning of the logs, I can read :
(23:30:35) dbus: Failed to get connection: Failed to execute
dbus-launch to autolaunch D-Bus session

I founded an explanation here
(http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/DbusHowto#TroubleshootingD-Bus), but I'm not
able to understand what to do. I just can see that the entionned line :
   dbus: okkk
is not in my debug-log.

DistroRelease: Xubuntu 8.04
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/pidgin
Package: pidgin 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2
PackageArchitecture: i386
Kernel : 2.6.24-19-generic, 2.6.24-18-generic and maybe 16 and 17... I can't be
sure.

[Bug 218439] Re: CPU load randomly hits 100%; XMPP random reconnects

2008-06-28 Thread mavosaure
Something interesting to notice :

The other plugins of pigin seem to be continuing to work, even the CPU
reched 100%, and the GUI is frozen. I can read other messages in the
debug log from the msn plugin, for exemple, but at that time there is no
one line of the jabber plugin.

an exemple of the last lines aof the jabber plugin in the debug log :

[Bug 159937] Re: time / size mapping is incorrect for Audio CD

2007-11-27 Thread mavosaure
Same configuration same problem!

Xubuntu Gutsy, brasero 0.6.1-0ubuntu1

I can't burn my list of FLAC files (note: I've installed gstreamer0.10
-plugins-good).

After adding my files I can read : 1h13min50 / 1h20 in TOSHIBA DVD-ROM... (so,
my 700 MB empty CD is welle recognized).
In the statebar (the bottombar... i don't say the good english word), you can
read 25 selectioned files (1h13min44).
I push on Graver (Burn if you prefer ;-) )
With defaults options : (no multisession, maximum speed, without copying image
on HDD, with burnproof, ejecting after burn, no simulation)
A window appear with Gravure du CD - Gravure d'un CD audio : recherche de la
taille. Something as Burning the audio CD: looking for the size.
Cd is ejected and i get this notice: Attente de remplacement du disque - La
capacité du disque dans le lecteur « TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R2312 » n'est pas
suffisante : remplacez le disque par un CD enregistrable avec au moins 744 Mio
d'espace libre.
Something like There's not enough capacity on your fuckµ*@ cd -rom. Put a CD-R
with at less 744MiB of empty space. ;-)
And then, it comes back to the project dialog.

Reproduction and alternatives:
Same results with option
simulation on
simulation on ; copying image on HDD
copying image on HDD

Second test : reducing the number of files to burn, and so, the targeted size
Endly, simulating, it burns a list of 1h09min08s but refuses a list of
1h09min50s.
And, that's interesting : burning the list which has duration of 1h09min08s, it
swows, during the process, a targeted capacity of 696 MiB.
And an audio CD of 74 min needs 650 MiB of empty space.

There's really a problem in calculating targeted space.

If you've got a solution...
