[Bug 2077920] Re: [RTL8821CE] awful performance
The machine is getting more and more inresponsive the longer the machine is running. There are lots of "Application x" is not responding" - windows. I only run Chrome and Chrome Remote Desktop. Top cpu eaters are "chrome --type =renderer --crashpad-handler-pid", 20%, gnome-shell 10-20% If I look at ressourcen in system monitor cpu1 and 2 is 100% busy. ram at about 75%, swap at about 50%. Will update the post if at home later. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2077920 Title: [RTL8821CE] awful performance To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2077920/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2077920] Re: [RTL8821CE] awful performance
Thanks for the answer. Wired network is not possible here, so wifi is required. :( Reinstalling with an older version is currently also not possible due to missing usb sticks. So at first I need to be home to decide which way is the best. But building a new kernel and switching to it without deeper experience and a fallback would be too hard for me.
[Bug 2077920] [NEW] awful performance
Public bug reported: In most application there is "not responding" window displayed. Firefox, Google Chrome, Google Remote Desktopm (=Chrome). In Google Remote Desktop the sound is transfered in a "okish" delay. The display of the remote machine is delayed by about 2-5 seconds. The laptop is connected by wifi, the remote machine is connected by lan cable. The problem also occur if the laptop is used in the same network about 2-3 meters away. There seems to be a driver issue. If graphic, "chipset", ram or harddisk: I dont know. The machine is very old but is quad core with 4 gb of ram. There SHOULD be a better performance. I used a dual core about 3-4 years ago and the performance was similar to this laptop now. [Bug 1882464] [NEW] menu icons in top bars exceed their boundary
Public bug reported: Sometimes the top bar icons (battery icon, wifi, sound etc...) are going out of their boundary at the top bar. when doing so they take over any maximized window top bar (e.g. browser, file explorer or any other app). By doing so it prevents the user from reaching the X, resize, and minimize buttons at the top right bar of the app. Sometimes the app menu on that same top bar is exceeding as well causing the same problem on the left side of the screen. It happened several times, but i cant seem to notice what cause it... The problem also disappear quite easily, but the only time i noticed something that stopped it is when i toggled off the "application menu" option in "Extensions" - i.e. made any structure change in the top bar. I'm using ubuntu 20.04 LTS "focal fossa". I use a workspace indicator, and a horizontal workspace structure which i both toggled on from "Extensions". ** Affects: distro-info-data (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "probelm visable on top right" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1882464/+attachment/5381409/+files/Screenshot%20from%202020-06-08%2000-50-33.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1882464 Title: menu icons in top bars exceed their boundary To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/distro-info-data/+bug/1882464/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1880404] [NEW] graphic app list does not scroll/scrolls partly with touchpad
Public bug reported: I have just upgraded to 20.04 LTS Focal Fossa GNOME version 3.36.2 and now experiencing some (minor) issues. When entering the app list (through the graphic button on the edge of the dock) and trying scrolling through my apps using the touchpad, scrolling is either not working or works partly - i.e i'm being able to move only between the first two pages. If moving to a different page by clicking the dots to the right side (say page 3 or 4), scrolling is locked. Interestingly, scrolling works fine when using my mouse wheel, and depending on what page i'm ending up in, trying to use touchpad afterwards allows me to scroll through the 3 pages - the one i started in, the previous one, the one after. I'm certain my touchpad is not damaged, as it works as usual when browsing the net with several browsers. I used to have this problem as well back in 18.04: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1694373 and it seemed like the scrolling response improved majorly in the sense that gradual scrolling is now possible, making the experience more fluid than it used to be. ** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1880404 Title: graphic app list does not scroll/scrolls partly with touchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1880404/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1211110] Re: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses
@andrea-lazzarotto thank you for your information. I saw, that it is fixed in 17.04, but I would like to stay on long-term-support version and I still hope that it will be fixed for 16.04 too. I understand that it cannot be fixed for all possible versions, but IMHO LTS version should have this privilege. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120 Title: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/120/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1578045] Re: Attempted to install ubuntu 16 on a secondary SSD for a dual boot setup and received grub installer error
Excellent! Thank you for the reply. I am new to Ubuntu and Linux and there is a learn curve. Based on some other articles that I have read it looks like what I should do is start from scratch and install Ubuntu first to get grub in the partition tables first. Then install Windows afterwards. I was try to avoid this and was attempting to install Ubuntu on a system that had an existing win 10 install. An advise on installation of OSs on separate HDD / devices? Would be helpful as most docs are geared toward installation of OSs on one partitioned drive. Thanks. -Sean On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, Phillip Susi wrote: > Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted > the 16.04 installer in EFI mode.
