[Bug 375903] Re: ath5k: unsupported jumbo

2010-01-11 Thread mercutio22
^_Pepe_^, I am afraid this package can't be reinstalled.

E: linux-backports-modules-2.6.31-16-generic: subprocess installed post-
removal script returned error exit status 1

I'd be happy to help, but I don't know what to do.

I have visited the forums and someone suggested removing entries related
to that package from /var/lib/dpkg/status.

If I do that the package is not listed as installed in synaptic but as
soon as I install something else it creeps back in, along with the error
message I just posted.

Pepe, I did install the ath5k driver from wireless-kernel.org and still
have the "unsupported jumbo" messages.

I must say I can't remove the linux-backports-modules-2.6.31-16-generic

[Bug 484226] [NEW] Evolution is deleting messages immediately in spite of "delete messages after 30 days" option selected

2009-11-17 Thread mercutio22
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have evolution on two computers. If I receive email on one of them, I
can't get the same message on the other one (they share the same
settings).

Furthermore, I am greeted with the popup message "could not open
www.google.com" everytime I launch evolution mail, but I am not sure if
thats related since it happens both to gmail and the non-gmail email
addresses.

[Bug 442312] Re: Transmission triggers anti-SYN-Flood countermeasures and Wi-Fi connection is killed often

2009-11-10 Thread mercutio22
Hi Charles,

Sorry to take so long, I completely forgot about this.

I am now using Karmic and I am not getting repeated messages about SYN
floods. I only found one in my kern.log from 2 days ago (november 8th).
The connection is much more stable but I still get disconnected
sometimes.

Network manager prompts me for my WPA password and wont reconnect till I
type it but I am not sure if this problem is related. I remember reading
a bug post where a developer named Alexander Sacks mentioned this is
standard behavior in response to wi-fi oscillation.

I attach my kern.log

[Bug 161124] Re: network manager assumes wrong key after wireless is disconnected

2009-11-04 Thread mercutio22
Alexander,

In the current state I frequently waste time leaving the computer on to
download torrent as when the connection oscillates the pc will not
automatically reconnect.

I understand the compromise, but a better solution would be to allow
users to select how to have their system behave.

I would much rather delete an old key from a config file and insert a
new one when needed instead of compromising my ability to download
overnight.

So maybe this feature can be added to a wishlist?

Thanks

[Bug 458491] [NEW] can't select text from a single column

2009-10-22 Thread mercutio22
Public bug reported:

I have experienced this ever since Edgy. I am surprised to not find any

related, but the fact is I can't even select text properly.

I am attaching an example: text on the left is selected as desired and
text on the right column is an undesired side effect.

I take back what I said about the workaround. It stills happens randomly
here.

I see this marked as invalid. Does it mean it won't be fixed or just
that this isn't empathy's bug? In the last case which package should
this bug target?

[Bug 442312] Re: Transmission triggers anti-SYN-Flood countermeasures and Wi-Fi connection is killed often

2009-10-04 Thread mercutio22
I am using the X-updates ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates/ I need the
2.6.30 kernel and latest nvidia drivers to solve compiz issues. You may
close the bug and I will hope this doesn't happen when karmic is
released. If it helps I would willingly downgrade the transmission
package and post more info if that helps.

How exactly can I do it?

I would like to note that twice, this bug surfaced after installing the
file syncing application dropbox, which modifies nautilus and might be
related somehow.

Fix #2 solved the issue.

[Bug 441683] [NEW] compiz fails to load after latest karmic (beta) upgrade

2009-10-03 Thread mercutio22
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

I installed karmic UNR and everything was working fine. I upgrade to the
latest packages by doing "sudo apt-get upgrade" and now compiz fails to
start. Also, the UNR interface is considerably slower even with
metacity.

Some regression must have taken place.
