[Bug 2081566] [NEW] Cannot create symbolic link with the mouse
Public bug reported: Up until recently it was possible to create symbolic links in the GUI with "Files" by performing a drag and drop operation with CTRL and SHIFT pressed (or was it CTRL+ALT+SHIFT?) between two Nautilus windows or tabs. Now I can only move or copy files and directories. I tried several key combinations, and the center button/mouse wheel, too. Neither of them worked. [Bug 2079038] Re: [VROC] [Ub 24.04.0/1] Kernel bug and reboot hang during recovery - missing patch
Bun and Kinga, I need you to identify the exact patches with patch ID's from upstream needed from 6.11 to even consider this. Once I see those and if it doesn't take a major effort to backport them to 6.8 then we can consider it. Otherwise you may have to use the hwe kernel when it reaches 6.11. Lets start with the exact patch set in addition the fix you already identified. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2079038 Title: [VROC] [Ub 24.04.0/1] Kernel bug and reboot hang during recovery - missing patch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2079038/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2079184] [NEW] Find and replace dialog does not take focus after user action
Public bug reported: Release: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS Version: Gummi 0.8.1 Package: 0.8.1-1build1 If the find-and-replace dialog is not visible, pressing control+F will open it and shift focus to this dialog. However, if the find-and-replace dialog is already open, then control+F does not switch focus and (as far as I can tell) there is no documented keyboard shortcut to switch focus. This inconsistant focus behavior can lead to unwanted text destined for the search box to be typed into latex source code. It is particularly problematic when the find dialog has opened on a different monitor or become hidden. It can require attention and switching between keyboard and mouse to resolve. Expected: control+F to find always shifts focus to the first text box in the find-and-replace dialog. [Bug 2078675] Re: Unable to upgrade to 24.04.01 because of postgres
Well, of *course* it's easy to blow someone off, especially if you don't stop to look at anything. so thanks for that. My version of postgres that I attempted to install didn't come from a PPA, I had to uninstall postgres-16 and postgres-16-ciient, in order to make the upgrade go. (which I did). Then the upgrade was broken, (it didn't install all the kernel parts) (on two systems). I fixed that. THEN, without enabling any PPAs, I attempted to install postgres. [Bug 2078675] [NEW] Unable to upgrade to 24.04.01 because of postgres
Public bug reported: Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. The package 'postgresql-16' is marked for removal but it is in the removal deny list. To prevent data loss, postgresql packages are not removed automatically during the upgrade. If you are certain you no longer need postgresql-16, you can manually remove it and try the upgrade again. If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at 'main.log' and 'apt.log'. Removing postgres and doing the upgrade results in not being able to re-install postgres, because of unmet dependencies. [Bug 2077495] [NEW] ubuntu-core-installer requires a newer subiquity on noble
Public bug reported: As mentioned in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/noble/+source/livecd- rootfs/+bug/2076307 there is a request to backport the ubuntu-core- installer project to noble. It turns out that the subiquity that is included by default on noble images is too old to support installing core. Rather than updating subiquity on all images this close to the point release, it seems safer to just override the subiquity channel for this build. [test plan] We should build a livefs with a command like: $ start-livefs-build --livefs=~mwhudson/+livefs/ubuntu/noble/test --arch=amd64 --pocket proposed --project ubuntu-core-installer build the results into an ISO and test them. [regression potential] The proposed change https://code.launchpad.net/~mwhudson/livecd-rootfs/+git/livecd-rootfs/+merge/471666 clearly does not affect the build of any other project so at worst, ubuntu-core-installer builds continue to be broken in some way. ** Affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Michael Hudson-Doyle (mwhudson) Status: In Progress ** Also affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Noble) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Noble) Assignee: (unassigned) => Michael Hudson-Doyle (mwhudson) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2077495 Title: ubuntu-core-installer requires a newer subiquity on noble To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/2077495/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2077459] [NEW] gdm-settings mostly ignored after recent updates
Public bug reported: I ran gdm-settings on a clean Ubuntu 24.04 install earlier this year and changed 3 settings from the default: 1. set a background image 2. changed the time in the top bar to AM/PM 3. disabled the user list After running updates and rebooting last week I noticed the background image was gone. I also built a desktop (https://launchpad.net/~mwhudson/+livefs/ubuntu/noble/test/+build/668142) and server (https://launchpad.net/~mwhudson/+livefs/ubuntu/noble/test/+build/668143) livefs. The server build failed but that is true for the current livecd- rootfs in updates as well -- so I think this is verified enough. ** Tags removed: verification-needed verification-needed-noble ** Tags added: verification-done verification-done-noble -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2076307 Title: backport ubuntu-core-installer code to noble To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-rootfs/+bug/2076307/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 2076675] [NEW] [SRU][HPE 24.04] Intel FVL NIC FW flash fails with inbox driver, causing driver not detected
Public bug reported: [Impact] Description of problem: Within 24.04 an intel FVL Idea adapter flash fails through a FW smart component RPM install. The flash successfully completes on the firmware(NVM) and fails on the firmware(ROM). The process takes roughly thirty minutes and still fails. Following this the NIC will not be recognized by the OS or RBSU until the next power cycle. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Kernel 6.8.0-38-generic How reproducible: 100% of the time Steps to Reproduce: 1. Attempt to upgrade NIC (Intel Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X710-DA2 was used in my case) using upgrade located at https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?language=en_US&collectionId=MTX-eeaaff922a754e17 2. Wait 30 minutes for upgrade to fail 3. Observe that NIC is no longer recognized 4. AC Power Cycle to bring the NIC back up Actual results: Upgrade fails and system requires a power cycle to use NIC again. Expected results: Upgrade succeeds [Fix] Additional info: There is an upstream patch from Intel that remediates this issue, where the NIC successfully upgrades in a reasonable amount of time. https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/netdev/net.git/commit/?id=8b9b59e27aa88ba133fbac85def3f8be67f2d5a8 I have patched the kernel, 6.8.0-38-generic, with the patch above and observed success. [Test Plan] Steps to Reproduce: 1.
