Yes, at login. I see that the syslog error
gnome-panel[1888]: Getting layout failed: 
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownObject: No such object path 
'/NO_DBUSMENU'
is not noted in any search I did.
I decided to do unity (I am not a fan, but it seems to work). Would love to see 
why gnome/gdm3 fails for me, but I can live with unity.

dpkg-query: error: --search needs at least one file name pattern argument

I can also confirm that adding

ad_gpo_map_interactive = +unity

has fixed the lock screen issue. As vargax mentions above, elevated
privileges in the gui is still an issue.

Assuming that you are dual booting, is the keyboard working in grub to
select the OS?  Also, what kernel are you running?  Have you tried other
keyboards?  Is it a USB or a PS2 keyboard.

Confirmed in Hardy x86_64 running on an 8800GT using the restricted
driver installed using the driver manager.  Blue/green skin hues in VLC,
mplayer, and Totem. Everything worked fine in 7.10, so I removed the
driver and installed the 169.12 x86_64 driver from nVidia's site and now
things are back to normal.  Problem w/ the driver in the repo?
