[Bug 1009967] Re: Installed programs disappear from “What's new” and “Best rated” sections after restarting USC

2012-06-13 Thread mmiicc
Hi Gary, thanks for answering and pointing out the spec.

What I've noticed there:

“On the home screen, the “What’s New” area should use tiles to list,
newest first, the applications that appeared most recently in any of
your software channels, excluding items that you have already installed”

OK, it looks like USC works like this now, but further in the spec I
see:

“Choosing “More” in the home screen area should navigate to a separate
“What’s New” screen that uses a software tile view to list, newest
first, the 60 applications that appeared most recently in any of your
software sources, regardless of whether they are installed.”

According to that, I should see installed applications there but it's not the
case at the moment in USC.
Also, I see only 20 (not 60) programs listed and in the list view (not tile
view), but these are problems for another bug reports.

Anyway, thanks for not ignoring our bug reports and improving Ubuntu!

[Bug 1009967] Re: Installed programs disappear from “What's new” and “Best rated” sections after restarting USC

2012-06-10 Thread mmiicc
Hi Gary, thanks for explanation. I tend to disagree with this behaviour though.
Is this backed up by some user research data? And why installed programs
disappear from “Best rated”? Is the installed app no longer best rated?
Regarding searching for istalled app to review it, I see it as adding another
step if one wants to review an application.

[Bug 1009967] [NEW] Installed programs disappear from “What's new” and “Best rated” sections after restarting USC

2012-06-07 Thread mmiicc
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04, USC 5.2.2.2

I've installed an app which was in “What's new” category. Later on, after
restarting USC, I noticed the app I installed disappeared from “What's new”
list. I was confused because I wanted to review the app. Well, I thought,
probably there was a problem with the app and it was removed from USC. Tough
luck.
After few days I've installed another app from “What's new” list and again
noticed the app is no longer there after restarting USC. This time I thought it
can't be some coincidence. I've tested a little more and it looks like a bug in
USC.

The problem also affects apps listed in “Best rated” and “Recommended”
categories.

[Bug 975950] [NEW] It's not obvious what will happen if I hit Enter after typing something in Dash

2012-04-07 Thread mmiicc
Public bug reported:

Currently there's no hint what happen after pressing Enter in Dash. IMHO it'll
be nice to highlight an icon of the application (or file) which is focused and
which will start (open) after hitting Enter.
Look at the attached screenshot. I'm not sure what will happen after pressing
Enter now:
- will it start Beneath A Steel Sky?
- will it open next 48 results?
- will nothing change?

I have a game Braid installed from Humble Indie Bundle
http://www.humblebundle.com/. It's listed in USC as installed but when I click
“Write your review” (might not be right, I use Polish localisation), I get
window with an error telling something about “Unknown source”.

[Bug 342890] Re: Cannot play DVDs - Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file

2011-11-28 Thread mmiicc
Hi Bryce, I haven't commented before because I've just marked this bug
as “affects me”. I experience it as long as I remember (for at least 2
years).

I've just checked with some random VideoCD from cornflakes pack or
somewhere. In attachment there's short screencast. It shows my desktop
from time when I put the disk into my machine. After about 15s a dialog
appears which ask me what to do with the disc. I'm selecting “open with
Totem”. Then Totem starts with the message “Could not open location; you
might not have permission to open the file. I close the warning and
select from File menu to open that film. After that it starts playing
just fine.

I noticed different name in “Now playing” list when video plays well and
when it does not play.

Beware: It's all in Polish, so my English translations of errors and
messages might not be accurate.

I was able to fix this using this guide:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2896078postcount=2
Quote:
“It is a known bug and there is a workaround by changing the video output
device on your video player.

* GStreamer (The default video player in Ubuntu, totem-gstreamer, and any video
player that is based on the gstreamer backend)
o Open a terminal and type gstreamer-properties. Press Enter.
o Click the Video tab.
o Under Default Video Plugin select X Window System (No Xv).
o Click Test to verify that video playback is working (you should be able to
see the standard TV testing colour stripes).
o Click Close ”

[Bug 878510] Re: Can't open dockable dialogues if I close them and other strange behaviours

2011-10-20 Thread mmiicc
I've reported this bug upstream:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=662240 and after suggestion from
Martin Nordholts (GIMP developer), I compiled GTK+ from 2.24.5 from
ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/2.24/ and than BABL,
GEGL and GIMP from git. The bug does not appear after that (for GIMP from git).
So it looks like the problem is Ubuntu's implementation of GTK+.

2011-10-19 Thread mmiicc
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10
GIMP 2.6.11

Problem with dockable dialogues (windows).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start GIMP
2. Drag and drop tab with brushes (for example) somewhere
3. Close created window with brushes
4. Go to menu: Windows-Dockable dialogues-Brushes or Ctrl+Shift+B

Expected result:

Problem with duplicating resources (I thing it goes together with above).

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start GIMP
2. In Gradients (for example) tab click icon “New gradient”
3. Close window which appeared
4. Click the icon again

Expected result:
The window appears again

Result in my case:

Gradient is duplicated every time I click “New gradient” icon.
