[Bug 1904568] [NEW] Noise on screen while using

2020-11-17 Thread Mohammad Kazemi
Public bug reported:

When I'm using my laptop, I sometimes see some noises on screen. they're mostly
horizontal noise lines in panels (but sometimes on other parts). I attached a
picture of the problem.
I use Kubuntu 20.10. The problem is present when I connect my laptop to
external screen (so it's not monitor's problem).

[Bug 1899361] Re: udisk prevent disk from standby, standby timer is broken

2020-10-13 Thread Mohammad Kazemi
I'm using smartmontools to check my drive every 30 minutes. It has an option to
don't check if the drive is standby. Can't they at least do the same?
And I had a question. Why does udisks checks smart data? Is it going to notify
me if there's a problem, or ... ?

P.S. My hard drive model number is TOSHIBA MQ04ABF100

look like it is because of dropbox.

[Bug 1891510] [NEW] Advanced power management value doesn't change on power

2020-08-13 Thread Mohammad Kazemi
Public bug reported:

I recently edited /etc/hdparm.conf file to and set two different values for AMP
level. One is "apm_battery = 128" when using battery and "apm = 255" when it's
plugged to charger.
But it seems this setting is only checked when system is starting and when I
unplug charger, it can't distinguish and the value of `hdparm -B /dev/sda`
doesn't change.
I don't know if it's a bug or not. But it should probably work.

[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10 & 20.04 (see comment 93)

2020-05-17 Thread Mohammad Ali Toufighi
You can upgrade only related packages (Taken from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/3.36.2-1ubuntu1~20.04.1):

mutter
mutter-common
libmutter-6-0
gir1.2-mutter-6

To rollback, remove proposed packages from your sources.list. Then, run
apt-update and install them.

2020-05-14 Thread Mohammad Ali Toufighi
Regarding my previous comment, it seems I must've restarted the process
before the upgrade taking effects. After restarting Firefox, I can copy-
paste from and into it.

For me, the upgrade seems to have solved the issue!

[Bug 1852183] Re: [X11] copy/paste (clipboard) is broken in Ubuntu 19.10 & 20.04 (see comment 93)

2020-05-14 Thread Mohammad Ali Toufighi
After upgrading to proposed packages, I can also confirm that unfortunately the
bug is still present. But its effects are much less than previous.
I copied an image from Telegram and I was unable to paste it in Firefox (in a
textbox where I could paste to it usually). However, I could paste it in
Telegram itself and also LibreOffice. This also applies to texts.
Also copying from Firefox and pasting into anywhere (including Firefox itself)
didn't work. Even copying multiple times doesn't make any effect.

P.S.: This problem doesn't happen always, but usually.
P.S. 2: It seems to me to be a problem with Firefox or whatever it uses.

firefox 75.0+build3-0ubuntu1
libreoffice-writer 1:6.4.2-0ubuntu3

[Bug 1877270] Re: Devlink - add RoCE disable kernel support

2020-05-14 Thread Mohammad Heib
Hi Jeff,
after testing the feature we see that some devlink functionality is missing in
our driver and we must add them before adding the ROCE feature.

This missing functionality is the implementation of devlink reload and
it was introduced upstream by the following two patches:

4383cfcc65e7 ("net/mlx5: Add devlink reload")
32680da71034 ("net/mlx5: Remove unneeded variable in mlx5_unload_one")

the above patches applied cleanly over your tree but we have some
compiling issue since the following patch are missing:

070c63f20f6c ("net: devlink: allow to change namespaces during reload")

these compiling issues can be resolved by aligned
mlx5_devlink_reload_down to Focal devlink_ops->reload_down by removing
the 'bool netns_change' parameter from mlx5_devlink_reload_down
function.

Thanks,

[Bug 1877270] [NEW] Devlink - add RoCE disable kernel support

2020-05-07 Thread Mohammad Heib
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

RoCE disable feature was added to the kernel v5.5.
This feature was requested by Mellanox customers that use Ubuntu 20.04,
and it's a very high important to deliver this feature to the customers
in one of ubuntu 20.04 SRU.

[SHORT DESCRIPTION]

RoCE enablement state controls driver support for RoCE traffic.
When RoCE is disabled, there is no gid table, only raw ethernet QPs are
supported and traffic on the well known UDP RoCE port is handled as raw
ethernet traffic.

[Test Case]

To change RoCE enablement state a user must change the driverinit cmode
value and run devlink reload.

User command examples:

- Disable RoCE::

$ devlink dev param set pci/:06:00.0 name enable_roce value false cmode
driverinit
$ devlink dev reload pci/:06:00.0

- Read RoCE enablement state::

$ devlink dev param show pci/:06:00.0 name enable_roce
  pci/:06:00.0:
  name enable_roce type generic
  values:
 cmode driverinit value true

[Regression Potential]

This feature shouldn't affect the regression because it's only adding support
for
RoCE enable/disable.
Also,
This feature was tested internally by Mellanox QA teams
those tests logs/results are private unfortunately i can't share it here

[Other Info]

Feature patchset:

94de879c28d8 IB/mlx5: Load profile according to RoCE enablement state
b5a498baf929 IB/mlx5: Rename profile and init methods
cc9defcbb8fa net/mlx5: Handle "enable_roce" devlink param
e90cde0d76f0 net/mlx5: Document flow_steering_mode devlink param
6c7295e13ffd devlink: Add new "enable_roce" generic device param

patctwork:
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/cover/1192314/

userspace:

No userspace dependency on this. the feature uses the devlink
param functionality which already exists in UB20.04.

[Bug 1851446] Re: Backport MPLS patches from 5.3 to 4.15

2020-04-05 Thread Mohammad Heib
Hi,
I apologize for the delay in responding.

actually we tested the patches and it seems that some functionality of
the features is not working as expected in Bionic/Eoan Kernels.

there is no TSO over MPLS traffic and that because of missing the following
upstream patch:
- e4683f35f8e5 ("net/mlx5e: Move to HW checksumming advertising").

so we need also this patch to be able to use TSO for MPLS traffic.

if you please can backport it that will be great. and please let us know
if you need any assistance.

Regards,
Mohammad

Hi,

The Mstflint accepted into UB proposed repo in both ubuntu 18.04 and 19.10.
So now we have an official UB release that we must run a full QA cycle on it
and once we verify it.
The package will be added to the Update repo in 7 days after our approval.

[Bug 1868624] [NEW] ASAP/MLX5: drop counter not increase with datapath action=drop in SW STEERING

2020-03-23 Thread Mohammad Heib
Public bug reported:

[SHORT DESCRIPTION]:

when we add traffic rules using the SW steering that supported by MLX5
driver in Ubuntu 20.04, we see that the rules added into the kernel and
the packages that stand in those rules are dropped. but the dropped
packets counters don't increase by the driver.

[HOW TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE]

1.configure SW Steering and ovs bridge (on both HV)
2. install one vm on each side
3. create to virtual function and attach it to the vm
4. configure action forward* in one side of HV* (sender side):
ovs-ofctl add-flow ovs-sriov
"tcp,in_port=ens5f0_0,nw_src=13.13.1.2,nw_dst=13.13.1.1,tp_src=8922,tp_dst=8922
action=drop"
5. check that the rulse added:
dump-flows ovs-sriov --color
6. in VM (server side) run: iperf -s -p 9822
7. in VM (client side) run : iperf -c 13.13.1.1 -p 8922 -B 13.13.1.2:8922
8. verify counter

[EXPECTED RESULT]

increase dropped packets counter

[ ACTUAL RESULT ]
dropped packets counter doesn't increase

[ADDITIONAL INFO]

the issue was resolved upstream, I need to verify that the upstream fix really
fixes the issue on UB20.04 and once we verify it I will add the fix here.

[Bug 1867519] Re: qemu 4.2 segfaults on VF detach

2020-03-18 Thread Mohammad Heib
Hi Christian,

yes that exactly what we see in our tests,
so are the logs that you asked for in comment#1 still needed?
also if you fix it can you please provide us a link for a package or even a
workaround until the issue resolved, since this issue stuck our QA from testing
ASAP over Focal.

[Bug 1691678] Re: Scrollbars escape the bottom and right side of the Terminal window by 1px

2020-03-04 Thread Mohammad Anwar Shah
I support the idea in the last para. of @egmont-gmail. If a patch
introduce a regression which is worse than the improvement made by the
patch, the patch should be dropped. I'm getting tired of Ubuntu fixing
something and breaking some other things.

Ubuntu LTS was rock solid once upon a time, but for regular users I
don't see any point using LTS these days.

[Bug 1691678] Re: Scrollbars escape the bottom and right side of the Terminal window by 1px

2020-03-04 Thread Mohammad Anwar Shah
It's not an upstream bug. I checked several other distribution with
different themes, none of them is affected. Only Ubuntu's gnome-terminal
is affected.

I don't understand why this simple bug is still around after realizing
it was reported 3 years ago! I am retrying to home on Ubuntu after
several years of leave, but again annoyed by this bug! The report saying
'fixed released' without any fixes!

Please, try to fix these annoying bugs which preventing us to use themes
other than default Ones!

[Bug 1864475] [NEW] Mstflint package - add RoCE disable support in Ubuntu 18.04

2020-02-24 Thread Mohammad Heib
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

RoCE disable feature was added to the last upstream Mstflint package.
This feature was requested by Mellanox customers that use Ubuntu 18.04,
and it's a very high important to deliver this feature to the customers
in one of ubuntu 18.04 SRU.

[Test Case]

[Regression Potential]

This feature shouldn't affect the regression because it's only adding support
for
RoCE enable/disable.
Also,
This feature was tested internally by Mellanox QA teams
those tests logs/results are private unfortunately i can't share it here

[Other Info]

The feature support added to mstflint by the following Mstflint patch:
