[Bug 31709] Re: Brasero, GNOME's burn:/// and K3b slow dvd burn speed
Can confirm slow burning speeds (since ubuntu 8.04 to 9.10), both on my old pc: Pentium 4 2gb ram with an IDE plextor drive and my new: i7 4gb ram with sata drive SONY OPTIARC AD-5240S. Both have SWAP disabled. In more detail, last night tried to burn an iso to a DL-DVD at x8 using nerolinux. The read buffer was all the time full, but the dvd recorder`s buffer dropped all the time (to 4%). So it seems it is not a low memory or slow file-system problem Have also tried brasero and k3b in the past, getting the same results. Using windows, I have been able to write dvd`s at x24 even on the Pentium 4 machine. hdparm -i /dev/dvd /dev/dvd: HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(identify) failed: Bad address Model=Optiarc, FwRev=1.02, SerialNo= Config={ Fixed Removeable DTR<=5Mbs DTR>10Mbs nonMagnetic } RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0 BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0 (maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:120,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120} PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4 DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2 udma3 udma4 *udma5 AdvancedPM=no Drive conforms to: Unspecified: ATA/ATAPI-3,4,5,6,7 * signifies the current active mode -- Brasero, GNOME's burn:/// and K3b slow dvd burn speed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/31709 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Just adding to the negative reports. [Bug 429036] Re: core i7 i5 (Lynnfield) turbo boost not working
http://code.google.com/p/i7z/ gave me some hight frequencies too (over the standard 2.8 GHz of my i7 860), but i`m not quiet positive about its validity, since from time to time it gave me frequencies like 7 GHz. -- core i7 i5 (Lynnfield) turbo boost not working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 348550] Re: Jaunty Compiz Water Effect not working
I can confirm this too on the final release of jaunty. [Bug 330081] Re: Very low sound (lower than with Windows)
I have the same problem both with 8.04 and 8.10 (waiting for Jaunty...), when using everything that makes sound, from rhyhtmbox and vlc to warcraft and firefox. I have an audigy LS CA0106 (witch i`m using as primary sound card) and an onboard. Have searched the forums for any problem ever bothered me (like pulse audio forgeting the default sound card) and eventually found solutions that worked for me, EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE. Have all the volume meters MAXED (those with and without GUI). On windows I use to set my sound to 3% for everyday use. On ubuntu I have to set it to more than 30% (more likely something between 40-50%). Seems like a driver problem to me. Hope a solution will be found sometime. -- Very low sound (lower than with Windows) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330081 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
