[Bug 162944] ASUS C90S wifi & bluetooth function key inop

2007-11-15 Thread msromike
Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of Gutsy on to my ASUS C90S laptop almost all of
my function keys worked. Except I cannot figure out how to get fn+F2
working.

It should be a circular four way toggle between:

  OFF+OFF
  WIFI+OFF
  WIFI+BT
  OFF+BT

[Bug 162943] ASUS C90S suspend disables bluetooth

2007-11-15 Thread msromike
Public bug reported:

When my ASUS C90S returns from suspend, sometimes the bluetooth service
needs to be restarted manually to get my bluetooth mouse working again.

It seems to be related to the length of time the laptop is in suspend
mode. It happens when it has been suspended for longer periods of time.
If you suspend it and then bring it right back bluetooth will still be
working.

[Bug 162787] ASUS Laptop function key inop

2007-11-14 Thread msromike
Public bug reported:

Problem: After a Live CD install of 7.10 Gutsy on ASUS C90S notebook
most, but not all, function keys work.

1) Inspection of ACPI log shows message "... is SHMConfig installed?"
2) Examining /etc/acpi/asus-touchpad.sh script shows that 'synclient -l' output
is needed to build the shell command to toggle the touchpad.
3) At the command line, 'synclient -l' outputs "Can't access shared memory
area. SHMConfig disabled?"
4) Added 'Option "SHMConfig" "on" into xorg.conf as follows:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
Driver "synaptics"
Option "SendCoreEvents""true"
Option "Device""/dev/psaux"
Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
EndSection
5) Restart X and touchpad function key toggle works.

Conclusion: Have Ubuntu Gutsy setup add necessary line to config on
intial installation.

Thanks, Mike
