[Bug 1313184] [NEW] Medit crashes in unity_gtk_action_group_connect_item
Public bug reported: Medit crashes for no particular reason on Ubuntu 14.04: http://sourceforge.net/p/mooedit/bugs/177/, it happens both with newest medit sources and with medit package shipped with ubuntu. Debugger says that the problem is in unity_gtk_action_group_connect_item(), which tries to add a null string to a hash, call stack below (I couldn't make apport work for me). Relevant medit code is here: https://bitbucket.org/medit/medit/raw/9a939f3f31de867326b3c5904a7ce550e6594024/moo/mooutils/mooencodings.c see update_recent_list_visibility(), which calls gtk_widget_show() on a menu item. #0 g_str_hash (v=0x0) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./glib/ghash.c:1802 #1 0x751eb040 in g_hash_table_lookup_node ( hash_return=, key=0x0, hash_table=0xfd8aa0) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./glib/ghash.c:368 #2 g_hash_table_insert_internal (hash_table=0xfd8aa0, key=0x0, value=0x10ab000, keep_new_key=0) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./glib/ghash.c:1171 #3 0x7fffef064a62 in unity_gtk_action_group_connect_item (group=0xf68830, item=item@entry=0x10ab000) at ../../../lib/unity-gtk-action-group.c:849 #4 0x7fffef05e852 in unity_gtk_menu_shell_show_item ( shell=shell@entry=0x9b74c0, item=item@entry=0x10ab000) at ../../../lib/unity-gtk-menu-shell.c:180 #5 0x7fffef0605f6 in unity_gtk_menu_shell_handle_item_visible ( item=0x10ab000, shell=0x9b74c0) at ../../../lib/unity-gtk-menu-shell.c:416 #6 unity_gtk_menu_shell_handle_item_notify (shell=0x9b74c0, item=0x10ab000, property=) at ../../../lib/unity-gtk-menu-shell.c:1017 #7 0x754cb3b8 in g_closure_invoke (closure=0x10d6720, return_value=0x0, n_param_values=2, param_values=0x7fffd900, invocation_hint=0x7fffd8a0) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./gobject/gclosure.c:768 #8 0x754dcd3d in signal_emit_unlocked_R (node=node@entry=0x8ad420, detail=detail@entry=281, instance=instance@entry=0xea9e40, emission_return=emission_return@entry=0x0, instance_and_params=instance_and_params@entry=0x7fffd900) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./gobject/gsignal.c:3551 #9 0x754e4a29 in g_signal_emit_valist (instance=, signal_id=, detail=, var_args=var_args@entry=0x7fffda98) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./gobject/gsignal.c:3307 #10 0x754e4ce2 in g_signal_emit (instance=, signal_id=, detail=) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./gobject/gsignal.c:3363 #11 0x754cf725 in g_object_dispatch_properties_changed ( object=0xea9e40, n_pspecs=0, pspecs=0x10ab000) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./gobject/gobject.c:1053 #12 0x754d1ceb in g_object_notify_by_spec_internal ( pspec=, object=0xea9e40) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./gobject/gobject.c:1147 #13 g_object_notify (object=object@entry=0xea9e40, property_name=property_name@entry=0x76c56e96 "visible") at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./gobject/gobject.c:1194 #14 0x76b1bdc5 in IA__gtk_widget_show (widget=0xea9e40) at /build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.24.23/gtk/gtkwidget.c:3237 #15 0x004c4228 in update_recent_list_visibility (action=0xd9d420) at ../../moo/mooutils/mooencodings.c:1234 #16 0x751fbce5 in g_main_dispatch (context=0x8ced20) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./glib/gmain.c:3064 #17 g_main_context_dispatch (context=context@entry=0x8ced20) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./glib/gmain.c:3663 #18 0x751fc048 in g_main_context_iterate (context=0x8ced20, block=block@entry=1, dispatch=dispatch@entry=1, self=) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./glib/gmain.c:3734 #19 0x751fc30a in g_main_loop_run (loop=0x8a3030) at /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.40.0/./glib/gmain.c:3928 #20 0x76a04417 in IA__gtk_main () at /build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.24.23/gtk/gtkmain.c:1271 #21 0x00553b15 in moo_app_run (app=app@entry=0x91b6c0) at ../../moo/mooapp/mooapp.c:908 #22 0x0044c172 in medit_main (argv=, argc=) at ../../moo/medit-app/main.c:843 #23 main (argc=, argv=) at ../../moo/medit-app/main.c:854 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: libunity-gtk2-parser0 0.0.0+14.04.20140403-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-generic 3.13.9 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Apr 26 12:30:53 2014 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-04-24 (2 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140417) SourcePackage: unity-gtk-module UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: unity-gtk-module (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313184 Title: Medit crashes in unity_gtk_action_group_connect_item To manage notific

Could someone take a look at gdk_x11_keymap_translate_keyboard_state () in http://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/tree/gdk/x11/gdkkeys-x11.c, and see if they are supposed to be broken? [Bug 764185] [NEW] System locks up randomly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I have a Toshiba laptop with Ubuntu on it, and it will lock up at a random point: picture on the screen freezes, mouse cursor won't move, system doesn't respond to keyboard, etc. Ssh server stops responding, so it's not just X. Sometimes it happens after suspend, sometimes after boot, I can't see anything special that I do when it locks up (once it locked up after it booted and logged into gnome, and double-clicked a folder on desktop). This happens several times a week. Note, information in this report is submitted by the automatic bug reporting thing, whatever that is, it always pops up after I log in. I don't know if it's related or not, but I figured it has lots of useful information about my system. [Bug 757202] [NEW] Tray icon image is missing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager Battery indicator (or tray icon, whatever it is) is missing the battery/power source image. [Bug 752193] [NEW] Completion is too jealous for basic commands
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bash-completion Scenario: go to home directory in terminal, then type "ls Deskto" (without quotes) and press Tab. Result: command line completes to "ls Desktop " (with space after "Desktop"). The problem here is that you may want to continue typing to get to a subdirectory. If I recall correctly, in earlier releases the completion would be "ls Desktop/", where you could press Enter or continue typing. This problem exists with at least 'ls' and 'rm'. It seems more is broken because if in above steps you replace 'ls' with 'tar' then you don't get any completion at all, even though Desktop is a folder and hence can contain some archive file. It looks like completion tries to get a "fully-complete" completion and ignores the possibility of intermediate folders. [Bug 196785] Re: 'sh' syntax highlighting actually for bash, and uses syntax invalid for Bourne shell
We are cheating here, true, we say "sh" when it's really "bash". But I don't think it's a real problem, so I tend to close the upstream bug with WONTFIX. It's similar to highlighting TRUE and FALSE in C code - these aren't standard identifiers, yet they are common enough and we highlight them. "Simple fix" above is not acceptable, there must be a language with id "sh". "Extended fix" is possible but wrong. If there is sh.lang, then it will be used for all sh-like scripts, including bash scripts (at least with our advanced unix technologies). All in all, it's a small issue without a small fix. -- 'sh' syntax highlighting actually for bash, and uses syntax invalid for Bourne shell https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196785 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Ubuntu gtk package is broken. The following change is in fault here: * 042_treeview_single_focus.patch: don't select the focused item for GTK_SELECTION_SINGLE type treeviews. [Bug 212433] Re: can't save config file
It'd be nice if you could run it in valgrind like this: valgrind --leak-check=full --num-callers=50 medit and sent the output to muntyan at tamu.edu. It needs medit to be compiled with debugging symbols though. [Bug 212433] Re: can't save config file
Another Ubuntu user told me about same bug as described by MoMaT. I took his binary and tested it on Suse I have access to, no bug. So, could someone else confirm this? Any ideas on what could be special about fresh ubuntu hardy? I don't have an Ubuntu machine and I don't see the bug on what I have, so I can't do anything. -- can't save config file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212433 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 212433] Re: can't save config file
The first bug is fixed (not sure if it is in 0.9.3). The second one is something that shouldn't happen. It must be much better after fix for http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=494776, which should be in the next version of Gtk. -- gedit consumes 100% processor with paragraphs > 10 lines. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145400 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 145400] Re: gedit consumes 100% processor with paragraphs > 10 lines.
Yes, new engine eats a lot more cpu time here. Some 50-60% in top vs 12% with no highlighting. [Bug 145400] Re: gedit consumes 100% processor with paragraphs > 10 lines.
Good, now the picture is much more clear. I guess the problem is that the engine removes/applies tags and that makes re-wrapping harder (text styles change text width/height, so it's worse than simple text with no styles at all). If anyone feels like playing with it, profiling would be of great help: sysprof will do well here (you need gtksourceview built with debuggin symbols, like described here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces) -- gedit consumes 100% processor with paragraphs > 10 lines. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145400 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 145400] Re: gedit consumes 100% processor with paragraphs > 10 lines.
Does it happen without syntax highlighting? I.e. take the same text, put it into a file which isn't highlighted at all (some plain text document), and see if you have the problem.
Guys, who can reproduce this, could you confirm it happens only with syntax highlighting turned on? Because syntax highlighting may very well be slow reason, but then it should be slow regardless if you use text wrapping or not. E.g. some comments here sound like it's re-wrapping text which is slow, others sound like it's highlighting. -- gedit consumes 100% processor with paragraphs > 10 lines. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/145400 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
